2 Six-time MP KP Unnikrishnan passes away at 89

Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister KP Unnikrishnan passed away at the age of 89 in Kozhikode, Kerala. He was a six-time Member of Parliament from Vadakara. He was a prominent political figure in the 1980s and 1990s . Unnikrishnan played a key role in national politics, including serving in the VP Singh cabinet. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Vadakara for six consecutive terms . He was first elected in 1971 as a Congress candidate. He was re-elected in 1977, 1980, 1984, 1989, and 1991. He served on the Public Accounts Committee (1980-82). He served as Union Minister of Surface Transport and Communications in 1989-90.
3 Japanese graphic designer Kazumasa Nagai passes away

On February 23rd , Japan’s most renowned graphic designer and visual artist, Kazumasa Nagai, passed away. Nagai was 96 years old. He championed modern Japanese visual culture through graphic design for 70 years. Nagai portrayed Japan’s position in the post-WWII and contemporary eras through visual art. Nagai designed the official graphic design for the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, which is considered a modern landmark in Japanese design history. Nagai created logos for major Japanese brands and institutions such as Asahi Breweries, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Japan Railways, Tokyo Electric Power , and others. Nagai was among the founding members of the Nippon Design Center (NDC) in 1960. Nagai served as president of the Nippon Design Center and made significant contributions to the development and advancement of graphic design as a professional art in Japan.

13 RBI reports sharp decline in India’s current account deficit by 2025

The RBI’s latest report on India’s balance of payments highlights rising FDI inflows, services export growth, and changes in foreign exchange reserves. The lower current account deficit means that pressure on foreign borrowing has eased and the balance of payments position has strengthened. This improvement reflects better performance in goods and services exports. These figures were released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). This decline in CAD reflects the robust position of balance of payments management and the strength of the external sector in 2025.
