Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  shared   his thoughts on the 100th episode of  his  monthly radio program  ‘ Mann Ki Baat ‘  on 30 April . The broadcast began at 11 am and was available on various platforms including All India Radio, Doordarshan, All India News website, News on Air mobile app and several YouTube channels. The ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program is a platform used by Prime Minister Modi to engage with people in India and abroad on various issues of national importance.  October 3, 2014 Since its inception, the program has become a popular medium for the Prime Minister to connect with citizens and discuss their concerns. The format of this program is simple; The Prime Minister shares his views on various topics and encourages citizens to share their feedback and views on the same.

4. The Supreme Court ruled that in cases of irreconcilable marriage, it can pass the order of divorce with the consent of both the parties.

The Supreme Court  held that it   can exercise its absolute powers under Article 142 of the Constitution  to grant  divorce in cases of breakdown of marriage despite all possible efforts. This is possible only when all possibilities of reconciliation between husband and wife have been exhausted. A Constitution Bench of Justice  Sanjay Kishan Kaul  and others ruled that  the period of six months  prescribed under  the Hindu Marriage Act  can be waived. Legally binding period  prescribed under  section 12B of the Hindu Marriage Act The judgment was delivered on petitions regarding the exercise of absolute powers of the apex court for divorce without referring the case to the family court for waiting. Article 142 authorizes the Apex Court to pass such orders as may be necessary for providing complete justice in any matter. The matter was referred by a division bench to a five-judge bench on June 29, 2016, almost five years ago. After hearing the arguments, the Constitution Bench had reserved its decision on 29 September 2022.

5 . Supreme Court orders registration of FIR on hate speech

The Supreme Court of India has directed  all states to  register suo motu FIRs on incidents of hate speech  and initiate legal proceedings against perpetrators without waiting for complaints to be filed. The court struck down  Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 153A  (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion),  153B  (accusations, claims prejudicial to national integration),  505  (public mischief),  295A (Deliberate and malicious act with intent to hurt religious feelings) and stressed the need to identify and take action against perpetrators of hate speech under specific penal provisions. The court had passed a similar order in October 2022. However, it was argued that freedom of expression should not be stifled in the guise of dealing with hate speech and the Court observed that the Constitution envisages India as a secular nation with dignity and unity of the individual and the integrity of the nation. Must be sure.

6. Abhilash Tomy finishes second in Golden Globe Race

Commander Abhilash Tomy, a retired Indian Navy  officer   , is the first Indian to   complete the Golden Globe Race .  He has come  second in this race . In this race, sailors go round the world alone on a boat. Last year  on September 4, this race started from France  . The Golden Globe Race is considered the toughest sailing race in the world. This was informed by the official Twitter account of the Golden Globe Race. Kirsten Neuschafer, a  40   -year-old sailor from  South Africa  , took the first place . She  is the first woman in the world  to win this race. It is the longest and slowest race in the world. 16 participants took part in this race. in this game  Races are completed using the technology that existed before 1968 . It does not use state-of-the-art navigation equipment. Commander Abhilash Tomy has served as a Commander in the Indian Navy. He is retired from the Indian Navy. He has served the Indian Navy for 20 years. He has announced his early retirement as he wants to strengthen his preparations for the Golden Globe Race 2022.

7. European Union (EU) introduces Fit for 55 climate action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

The European Union (EU)  has   introduced a comprehensive climate action plan called the Fit for 55 package  to reduce  greenhouse gas emissions  that play a major role in  global warming and climate change . The Fit for 55 package is a collection of proposals that aims to update and enhance existing EU legislation while launching new initiatives to align EU policies with climate objectives agreed by the Council and the European Parliament. It includes a range of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in various sectors. The main objective of the Fit for 55 package is  to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030. The aim of the EU is to align EU law with the This ambitious target is in line with the Paris Agreement’s long-term goal of limiting global warming.

8. The 22nd session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) was held

The 22nd session  of  the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) was  held from 17 to 28 April this year.  It focused on full inclusion of indigenous peoples  in realizing their socio-economic development and preservation of their culture, languages ​​and environment. During this session a report was given on the themes of “ Truth, Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Processes ”. The report highlighted the need to address historical injustices against indigenous peoples and promote transitional justice and reconciliation processes to ensure their rights are respected. United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues – UNPFII  July 28, 2000 It is a high-level advisory body established to provide expert advice and recommendations on indigenous issues related to economic and social development, culture, environment, education, health, and human rights. 9. NITI Aayog in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program released Best Practices in the Social Sector: Summary 2023

NITI Aayog  in   association with  the United Nations Development Program  released Best Practices in the Social Sector: Summary 2023 . To commemorate 75 years of the country’s independence and   to highlight  the efforts of Union Ministers and State Governments, this compendium  covers studies of 14 key social sectors . Information about this was collected from all the states and union territories and 30 ministries and departments of the central government. The aim is to take lessons for the future so that improvements can be made at the grassroots level.

10. First test launch of new low-cost STAR sensor developed from off-the-shelf components successfully conducted

 A new  low-cost star sensor developed by astronomers from off-the-shelf components was  recently   launched  by  ISRO on PSLV C-55 . In its maiden space test, the sensor mounted on  the PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM)  is performing well and the initial data has now verified its configuration as well as its function. The StarberySense payload  developed by  the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) , an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST)  Was launched on 22 April. This innovative low-cost sensor, designed to quickly calculate where a satellite is pointing, is being tested in space for the first time. Astronomers from the Institute’s Space Payloads Group have announced that the star Berry Sense has not only withstood the harsh conditions in space but is performing as expected, with preliminary data also indicating that it (Pointing Direction) able to calculate. It is important for any space mission to know where the satellite is being pointed at any given moment. While there are many ways to do this, a star sensor provides the most accurate information about a spacecraft’s orientation.

11. ASEAN India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2023) held

Indian Naval  Ships  INS Satpura  and  INS Delhi ,  commanded by  RADM Gurcharan Singh , Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet,   have arrived in Singapore on 01 May 2023. These naval ships   will participate in the first ASEAN India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2023) to be held from 2 to 8 May 2023. The ‘ Harbour Phase ‘ of the exercise will be conducted at  Changi Naval Base from 2 to 4 May 2023  and the ‘ Sea Phase ‘  from 7 to 8 May 2023 in the South China Sea  . AIME-2023 will provide an opportunity for Indian Navy and ASEAN Navies to work together and conduct seamless operations in the maritime domain.

12. Air Marshal Narmadeshwar Tiwari takes over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command

Air Marshal Narmadeshwar Tiwari  took over as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the South Western Air Command (SWAC)  at  Gandhinagar  on 01 May 2023  . He succeeds Air Marshal Vikram Singh, who retires on April 30, 2023.

13. NPCI’s new initiative: NBBL launches NOCS platform for ONDC

NPCI Bharat Billpay Limited (NBBL)  , a subsidiary of  National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI),  has   launched NOCS platform  to provide reconciliation and settlement services for transactions done on the  Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) network. The platform will serve as the foundation for the ONDC network and enable secure and timely transfer of funds to network participants. The NOCS platform is integrated with banks, fintex and e-commerce players, and will soon go live on ONDC with the first five banks – AU Small Finance Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, IDFC First Bank and Yes Bank.

14. Indian-American Neeli Bendapudi Immigrant Achievement Award 2023

Indian-American citizen ‘Neeli Bendapudi’ (59) was   on 28 April conferred with the prestigious ‘ Immigrant Achievement Award ‘ 2023 for her contribution in the field of higher education in the US. Neeli Bendapudi is the president of ‘Penn State University’. The award is given each year to an individual or organization for their commitment and dedication to American heritage. For nearly 30 years, Penn State University President Dr. Bendapudi has been working to foster student success, inclusive excellence in higher education, and create opportunities for students, faculty and staff. She is the first black woman to serve as the president of Penn State University.

15. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and RIYA signed MoU

Secretary , Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs,  Shri Manoj Joshi and Joint Secretary, Smt. Rupa Mishra,  focusing on expediting  solid waste and used water management ; Urban Infra Executive Director Mr. R.K. Dayal and  RITES CMD Mr. Rahul Mittal signed an MoU on technical support for SWM and UWM   under  SBM-U 2.0  with RITES. Technical Support Unit (TSU) of RITES will support SBM-U for a period of three years. The objective of the MoU is to enable technical assistance in the area of ​​solid waste management.

16. National Thermal Power Corporation and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited sign agreement for joint development of nuclear power plants

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited  signed   a complementary joint venture agreement with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL)  in  New Delhi  for development of  nuclear power projects . The JV Company will initially   develop  two Pressurized Heavy-Water Reactor (PHWR) projects  namely   2×700  MW Chutka Madhya Pradesh Nuclear Power Project  and  4×700 MW Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Nuclear Power Project  , which will be referred to  as Fleet Mode Nuclear Projects. Identified as a part of Ministry of Power This complementary joint venture agreement is an important step for National Thermal Power Corporation Limited and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited to cooperate and assist in the development of nuclear power projects that will help the country achieve the goal of zero carbon emissions by the year 2070. to meet its clean energy commitments.

17. Ravi Varma’s last unfinished work ‘Parsi Lady’ to be made public soon

An unfinished painting by Raja Ravi Varma,  the great Indian artist who revolutionized traditional Indian art during  the colonial period  , will soon be made public. The painting named ‘ Parsi Lady ‘  by Ravi Varma before his death in the year 1906 is his last work. The painting is unique as it   captures a glimpse of Ravi Varma’s association with Dadasaheb Phalke , who worked for him at that time. Ravi Varma gave a large sum to Phalke, who later made the first intense Indian feature film,  Raja Harishchandra. Attained fame by making The Kilimanoor Palace Trust owns the painting and has decided to unveil it on the occasion of Ravi Varma’s 175th birth anniversary along with another painting which has not been displayed so far. The palace was built by an art restorer S.K. With the help of Madhan, the painting has been restored to its original form by removing the layers of old varnish and dirt that had accumulated on the painting. Raja Ravi Varma (born April 29, 1848) was an Indian painter known for his Western, classical representations of Hindu deities. He received training in water colors from the royal painter Ramaswamy Naidu and produced about 7,000 paintings in his lifetime. Varma’s mastery of the lithographic press helped spread his work far and wide, Also he was awarded the Kaiser-i-Hind gold medal by the British colonial government in the year 1904. In 2013, a crater on the planet Mercury was named in his honour.

18. Star Rating System for Water Fixtures

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)  and   Mission Director of  AMRUT 2.0  announced at  Plumbex India 2023 that the Government of India  is in the process of introducing  a star rating system for water fixtures  to  promote water efficiency . Like electrical appliances , these water fixtures under the umbrella of Bharat Tap will be given a rating of 3, 4 or 5 stars based on their efficiency. Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) to adopt and promote these standards  and manufacturers have been included. The initiative has already seen that on an average more than 30% water can be saved. IPA has committed to save 10,000 crore liters of water this year alone, urging the government to give priority to low-flow fixtures while awarding tenders in future.

19. Delhi records best air quality since 2016

The Commission for Air Quality Management  (CAQM) has announced that  from January to April 2023 Delhi’s air quality has been the best since 2016 for the same period, except in 2020, which saw strict lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CAQM reported that Delhi recorded an average PM2.5 concentration of 109 micrograms per cubic meter and an average PM10 concentration of 221 micrograms per cubic meter from January to April, the lowest for the same period since 2016. The improvement in Delhi’s air quality can be attributed to several factors, including reduction in industrial activity, reduction in vehicular movement, etc. Additionally, the implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), a series of measures taken by the government to curb pollution during the winter months, has also had a positive impact on air quality.

20. Government of India banned 14 messaging apps

In a major move aimed at cracking down on terrorist activities in India, the Center  has banned 14 mobile messaging applications  , which are being used  by terrorists to communicate with their supporters and Over Ground Workers (OGWs)  in  Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan.  was being used by terrorist groups to receive instructions from The banned apps include Crypviser, Enigma, Safeswiss, Wickrme, Mediafire, Briar, BChat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second Line, Zangi and Threema. This action has been taken on the recommendation of security and intelligence agencies.
