1.Modi’s big step towards opening the old age home, will not leave the elderly anymore:-

Given the growing number of elderly people in the country, the government has stepped up a major step towards opening of old age homes in all the districts. Under this, the government has approved a new policy. Under the new policy, the government’s focus will now be on such districts, where there is no old age home. In these also, priority will be given to the government or its affiliated institutions. Where there are already old age homes, new will not be accepted.

According to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, this policy has been prepared to eliminate the random distribution of old age homes and help the needy of all the elderly. At present, the government had no clear policy about it. The districts from which it received the proposal were openly sanctioned. In many states and districts where it has a large number, a large number of districts are still deprived of it. According to a report of the ministry, out of the total 718 districts of the country, there are 488 districts where there is still no old age homes. At the same time, the states which have the highest number of old age homes open, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are ahead. At present around 4 hundred old age homes are operated in around 230 districts of the country. Proposals coming from government institutions will be preferred. The government has taken this initiative about it when the number of elderly people in the country is increasing rapidly. At present, their number is 12 percent of the country’s total population (in the year 2018). That was just 8.6 percent in 2011. According to the report, by 2020, their number can be up to 14 to 16 percent of the total population.

Aim to open Ashram in 100 new districts till March

According to officials attached to the ministry, till March 2019, there is a plan to open the old age home in hundred districts of the country, where there is no one yet. Proposals have been sought from the states for this. This approval will be given as soon as the proposal comes from the states.

On the occasion of laying foundation stone, Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma said that the new museum building will cost Rs. 271 crores and it will be ready within a year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi  met the heads of oil companies to gather information on the status of energy at the global level. This gift has happened at a time when the prices of fuel are constantly increasing in the four major metros of the country. Due to the constant increase in the prices of mineral oil across the world, the cost of fuel used for transport is increasing.

Earlier this month, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had announced a reduction in excise duty of 50 rupees per liter in oil prices. Along with this, government companies, which sell oil, also reduced the cost of petrol and diesel by one rupee per liter.

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Deputy Chairman of the Policy Commission Dr. Rajiv Kumar and Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Kant attended the meeting.

5.India wants Afghanistan to emerge as an organized, peaceful, safe, inclusive and economically important country: Sushma Swaraj:-

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that India wants Afghanistan to emerge as an organized, peaceful, safe, inclusive and economically important country and for this India is committed to partnership with Afghanistan.

Mrs Swaraj said this in a message on the occasion of the inauguration of joint training program of China and Afghan diplomats. External Affairs Minister said that India and Afghanistan are neighbors and strategic partners nearby.

6.In order to get control over air pollution in Delhi, advance information system (REV) was started:-

Dr. Harshvardhan, Minister of Earth Sciences, today inaugurated Air Quality Warning System for Delhi Area in New Delhi. This system has been developed with the help of USA and Finland model, which will predict the impact of high air pollution levels.

It will also give warning for necessary action. On this occasion Dr. Harshvardhan said that if the poor condition of the air is already reported, people can be educated to be alert.

Referring to the issues of burning fire, he said that instructions have been issued for burning of fire in Haryana and Punjab on priority basis. Secretary CK Mishra in the Ministry told AIR to know that several steps have been taken to reduce the pollution of vehicles in Delhi.

7.The Election Commission will launch the mobile app C-Wijel (REV) to monitor any disturbances in view of upcoming assembly elections:-

The Election Commission is launching an internet-based mobile app, C-Visil, in the forthcoming assembly elections. Citizen Vigil will be started for the first time as an experimental project in assembly elections. This app will be used only during the implementation of the Code of Conduct in the electoral states.

With the help of this app, images of incidents of violation of the Code of Conduct and video can be forwarded to the concerned election officer. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Electoral Officer Subrata Sahu told Akashwani that this would help in ensuring free, fair and transparent elections.

8.The bye-election ended in the 11th and 11th provincial assembly seats in the National Assembly in Pakistan:-

National Assembly in Pakistan’s  11  provincial assembly of  24  ended election for seats. According to Dawn News TV news, counting of votes has started on some polling stations. This time around 80  percent of Pakistani nationals  living abroad have  registered with I-voting  and used the franchise.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khakon Abbasi is contesting again this time from the National Assembly seat. They lost in the parliamentary elections held on July 25  .

Turnout for  seats ,  most of them are seats ,  which had been vacated by candidates who won parliamentary elections. These candidates had contested more than one seat.

9.India got silver medal in men’s and women’s hockey tournaments in Argentina’s Youth Olympic Games in Argentina:-

Men’s and women’s teams have won silver medals in the Youth Olympic Games Hockey tournament in Buenos Aires. The men’s hockey team took the lead 2-1 in the first half , but two minutes before Malaysia’s Anwar gave Malaysia the second and fourth goals. The women’s team also lost to hosts Argentina 1-3.

10.Leander Paes of India and Miguel Varela of Mexico won the Santo Domingo Open Trophy (REV):-

India’s Leander Paes and United’s Miguel Angel Reese Varela have won the Santo Domingo Open Trophy. The pair defeated Ariel Behr and Roberto Quiroz in the final.

Meanwhile, in the Shanghai Masters Tournament, Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the title by defeating Croatia’s Borna Soriech. Second seed Djokovic won the title for the fourth time. With this win, Djokovic has become the world’s number two player.

11.BBNL has played an important role in successfully implementing the India Net project to connect Gram Panchayats through digital system: Manoj Sinha:-

Communication Minister Manoj Sinha has said that Bharat Broad Band Network Limited – BBNL has played an important role in successfully implementing India Net Project for connecting all the 2.5 million gram panchayats through digital system in the country.

Shri Sinha said that the aim of this major project is to help citizens in e-governance, e-health, e-banking and other services without any discrimination.

The Communication Minister was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the new office of BBNL in New Delhi . He said that almost 50 percent of the project has been completed and the target is to complete the remaining by March next year.

Our correspondent has reported that the goal of connecting one lakh gram panchayats with digital system under the first phase of Net NET was obtained in December last year.

12.Women’s Farmer Day is being celebrated  to increase the active participation of women in agriculture:-

Women’s Farmers’ Day is being celebrated today to increase the active participation of women in agriculture. Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh will address the event in New Delhi.

Women farmers, women entrepreneurs, agricultural organizations, agricultural scientists and researchers from different states will participate in the event. In 2016, the Ministry of Agriculture decided to celebrate October 15 as the National Women’s Farmer’s Day every year.
