1. Ajay Mathur becomes new director general in special meeting of ISA

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) has announced Dr. Ajay Mathur as its new Director General after his election to the first Special Assembly of ISA members. Dr. Mathur will replace Mr. Upendra Tripathi , who was serving as Director General since the founding of ISA in 2015. ISA accelerates the use of safe, sustainable and affordable solar energy for all. It aims to invest more than $ 1 trillion USD in solar projects by 2030 through focused advocacy, policy and regulatory support, capacity building, and overcoming perceived investment barriers.

2. Prime Minister Narendra laid the foundation stone for the development of Maharaja Suheldev Memorial and Chittaura Lake in Uttar Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi video via conference on February 16 at the UP in Bahraich district in King Suheldev monument and Cittura lake laid the foundations of development construction work. Mr. Modi also inaugurated a medical college named after Maharaja Suheldev . The event was organized on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Suheldev. It was also attended by Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath . In the project, apart from the construction of Maharaja Suheldev’s horse-riding statue, the cafeteria, guest house and children’s park will also be constructed.

3. The first route of the Kochi Water Metro Project was inaugurated.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has inaugurated the first route and terminal buildings of the Kochi Water Metro . The project connects islands across the city with the help of state-of-the-art boats. The Metro route is from Vyattila to Kakkanad. Vyattila is one of the busiest traffic hubs in Kerala, while Kakkanad is an IT hub. The commercial operation of the metro will start in March 2021 after getting the statutory clearance certificate. The first phase of the Kochi Water Metro Project is 520 km long. Apart from Metro, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Panamakutty Bridge . It Petta BridgeAlso known as K was launched for traffic. This is Peta Junction and S.N. Will enable traffic free travel between junctions. The length of this bridge is 250 meters. He also started the Integrated Urban Regeneration and Water Transport System (IURWT) project . The IURWT project will refurbish and revive six major canals of 34 km in Kochi.

4. Tata Electronics signs MoU with Tamil Nadu to set up mobile component unit

Tata Electronics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish the facility for manufacturing mobile components . 4684 crore rupees will be spent on the project of Tata Electronics . It will be installed in Krishnagiri for manufacturing mechanical enclosures of mobile phones . This project can help generate employment for 18,250 people. Tamil Nadu has signed a memorandum of understanding with Grasim Industries to set up a paint manufacturing unit in Cheyyar. It will be set up with an investment of Rs 750 crore. In total, Tamil Nadu has signed 28 MoUs for the projects, with a budget outlay of Rs 28,000 crore.

5. The Prime Minister will address NTLF on 18 February.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Forum – NTLF through a video conference on 18 February. This is the third edition of NTLF which will run till 19 February. It is the flagship event of NASSCOM. The theme of the event this year is Shaping the Future Towards a Better Normal . The event will be attended by 16,000 delegates from over 30 countries. Over 30 products will be displayed during the talk.

6. Government to set up intelligence unit to deal with fraud

The Union Telecom Ministry has decided to set up an Intelligence Unit and a Consumer Protection System . The system is being installed in an effort to deal with the threats associated with disturbing calls. It will also help in taking strict action against financial fraud utilizing telecom resources. The Union Telecom Ministry decided to put in place such a system following the instruction of Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The minister chaired a high-level meeting to address the growing concerns of consumers about unsolicited messages on mobile phones. The government’s move aims to make digital transactions more secure.

7. Theodore Baskaran wins the Sanctuary Lifetime Service Award 2020

Theodore Baskaran , a writer, historian, naturalist and an activist, has won the Sanctuary Lifetime Service Award, 2020 . The award was instituted by the Sanctuary Nature Foundation . Theodore Baskaran has been selected for this award in view of his dedication to wildlife conservation. He has chosen to write about environmental protection in English and Tamil. s. Theodore Baskaran was born in Tamil Nadu in 1940. He is an Indian film historian and a wildlife conservationist.

8. Initial selection of four banks for privatization
