1.Attorney General K.K. Venugopal’s term extended again for three months
Senior Advocate K.K. Venugopal has agreed to continue as the Attorney General of India for three more months . His current term was to end on June 30. Venugopal (91) was appointed by the President of India to the post of Attorney General of the country in July 2017. He was later re-appointed to this post. He had replaced Mukul Rohatgi. Venugopal, an eminent advocate of the Supreme Court, has served on a large number of matters relating to important issues of constitutional and corporate law. He was also the Additional Solicitor General of India between 1979 and 1980. He has been honored with Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
2.Sandeep Kumar Gupta will be the new chairman of GAIL
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Finance Director Sandeep Kumar Gupta will head India’s largest gas company GAIL (India) Limited . The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has selected 56-year-old Gupta for the post of Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (GAIL) after interviewing 10 candidates. 4.The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has announced that the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme will be a part of the DBT scheme.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has announced that the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) will be a part of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programme , which will provide direct government funding to all trainees. Earlier the companies used to pay the full amount to the trainees and then demanded reimbursement for the same from the government. With the launch of the DBT scheme, the government will directly transfer its contribution to the bank accounts of trainees through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), which will pay 25% of the scholarship i.e. up to Rs.1500 per month. August 19, 2016 to promote apprenticeship and training programs in the country and provide financial assistance to training establishmentsNational Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was launched on The program aims to motivate employers to hire apprentices and help them find the right job role while maximizing their capabilities through intensive skill development. The campaign will see massive public participation, both physical and virtual, primarily to spread awareness about reducing marine waste, minimal use of plastic, at-source segregation and waste management. This will be the first and longest running seaside cleanliness drive of its kind in the world, in which maximum number of people will participate. The participation of common man in this will give the message of “Clean Sagar, Safe Sagar” for the prosperity of not only the coastal areas but also other parts of the country. This year’s event also coincides with the celebration of Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi in the 75th year of independence of the country; Through this Coastal Cleanup Drive on 75 beaches across the country.will be run. 8.NASA launches CAPSTONE mission to the Moon
