  • The National Commission for Women launched She is a Changemaker , a pan-India capacity building program for women in politics . The capacity building program will be conducted in collaboration with region wise training institutes and aims to build capacity of women political leaders and improve their decision making and communication skills. The training program has been officially launched in association with Rahmabhau Mhalgi Prabodhan in Thane, Maharashtra under the series – She is Change Maker. Chairperson, National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma inaugurated the training programme.

  • Former Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has joined the Board of Advisors for International Institute for Democracy and Electrical Assistance-IDEA . Mr. Arora has vast experience in leadership, knowledge and skills to work with international institutions. IDEA consists of fifteen members in total. IDEA, based in Stockholm, Sweden, aims to support a global democratic order. India is a founding member of IDEA.

  • PANEX-21 is humanitarian aid and disaster relief exercise . It will be conducted for BIMSTEC countries . It is a multinational disaster relief exercise. This exercise will be conducted between BIMSTEC countries, these countries include: Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand. The main objective of this exercise is to build regional cooperation in response to natural disasters. It will be organized in Pune from December 20 to December 22. It will analyze the capabilities of member countries in response to natural disaster. Countries will share their best practices. The exercise will review the preparedness and response processes. It will then recommend the development of an organized framework. During this exercise, the countries will discuss military-to-military cooperation protocols.

  • India Orissa‘s Chandipur integrated test range firepower missile air-to-surface short-range ability successfully tested. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said that the missile was fired from a vertical launcher against a very low altitude electronic target . The flight trajectory of the missile was monitored using several tracking devices. Integrated procedures for the Controller and all Armed Control Systems including the Vertical Launcher Unit required for future missiles from Indian Naval ships were included in the launch programme.

  • MtuaOkhotsk Sea (Sea of Okhotsk) in the Kuril Island chain is an uninhabited volcanic island located. It is in the northwest Pacific Ocean . In addition, Matua Island is 16 km from the Golovin Strait . These islands are located on the Ring of Fire . Recently the Russian army deployed its defense missile system called Bastion Systems on Matua Island . Japan on the Kuril Islandsalso claims. Japan claims four islands in the chain. The islands were occupied by the Soviet Union in the last days of World War II. During World War II, Japan established a military base in the island. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, this Soviet military base was closed due to lack of funds. The Bastion System is a coastal defense missile system. Bastion systems are capable of hitting maritime targets up to a range of 500 km. The main role of this system is to engage convoys, ships and carrier battle groups. P-800 Onyx has been used in this. Onyx is a supersonic anti-ship missile. These missiles have a warhead of 250 kg.

In this scheme 30% seats are reserved for minority girls. The objective of this scheme is to provide skills to the youth of the country. It aims to establish employment linkages for minority youth and school dropouts. Its main goal is to contribute in increasing the human resource capacity in the country. By achieving the above objectives, the scheme aims to realize the national aspirations of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.

  • Mamballaikalathil Sarada Menon, India’s first female psychiatrist and the longest-serving head of the Institute of Mental Health Padma Bhushan has passed away. He was born in Mangaluru, Karnataka in a Malayali family. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1992 for social work. Dr M Sharada Menon began his career as a psychiatrist in 1959 at the Institute of Mental Health (then known as Government Mental Hospital) at Kilpauk, Chennai. She became the first female superintendent of the Institute of Mental Health in 1961. He founded the Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF India) in 1984 with psychiatrist R Thara. He also founded ASHA, a community-based platform that supports families of people affected by mental illnesses.

  • To ensure smooth travel of international passengers arriving in India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have made contactless self-declaration mandatory on the Air Suvidha portal . The Air Suvidha Portal was launched in August 2020 and has now been strengthened to accommodate the new travel guidelines issued on 30 November 2021. Air Suvidha is the first of its kind digital portal to facilitate the arrival of international passengers in India. Developed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), this portal helps passengers to provide travel and last stay details along with RTPCR, vaccination status, etc.
