  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on August 25, 2021 approved Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for investment of up to Rs 15,000 crore in Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding (AIIH) Ltd.Proposal approved. Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding is a firm created to invest in India’s infrastructure and construction development sectors. This investment will be a significant boost to the National Monetization Pipeline (NMP) as AIIH proposed downstream investments in the areas covered under the NMP. It also includes investments in leasing out several state-owned infrastructure facilities such as railways, roads, airports, sports stadiums, gas pipelines and power transmission lines to private operators. It will also generate direct employment as the sector in which AIIH is proposing to invest downstream is capital as well as employment intensive sector. It will also generate indirect employment during construction and allied activities.

  • The Reserve Bank has permitted the authorized card network to provide card token services to any token requester to make card transactions more secure and convenient. In the notification, the bank said that it has provided this facility to the interested card holders only for their mobile phones and tablets. The bank found that tokenized card transactions have increased significantly in recent months. Taking into account the feedback from the stakeholders, RBI has decided to extend this facility to consumer devices – laptops, desktops, wrist watches, wrist bands and Internet of Things devices as well.

  • In order to provide relief to the families of bank employees , the government has increased the family pension of the Indian Banking Association up to 30% of the last drawn salary.The proposal to increase has been approved. With this move of the government, the family pension per family of bank employees will increase from Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000. This was announced by the Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance at a press conference addressed by the Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in Mumbai. Earlier in this scheme there was a slab of 15, 20 and 30 percent of the last drawn salary of the pensioner. Its maximum limit was Rs 9,284/-. The government has also approved the proposal to increase the contribution of employers under the New Pension Scheme to 14% from the existing 10%. The enhanced family pension would benefit thousands of families of public sector bank employees, while increased employers’ contribution would enhance the financial security of bank employees under the new pension scheme.
