1 National Education Policy 2020 completes 5 years

The National Education Policy 2020 has completed five years of implementation in the country . It was implemented on 29 July 2020 after getting the approval of the Union Cabinet , which was a major reform in the Indian education system after 34 years . In the last five years, this policy has become a symbol of change for millions of children, teachers and schools in India. The aim of NEP 2020 is not just to change the curriculum, but to create an education system that is flexible and child-friendly, which includes curiosity, creativity and diversity. The biggest change in this new education system is 5+3+3+4 is 5+3+3+4, which left behind the traditional 10+2 system . Under this , play-based, experiential and multidisciplinary learning has been promoted. Curriculum structures such as NCF-FS (from three years to eight years of age i.e. pre-primary and classes 1 and 2 are included in it.) Along with this, NCF-SE 2023 (from eight years to eighteen years of age i.e. from the preparatory stage to the secondary stage in which children from class 3 to class 12 are included.) are guiding this change. Prioritizing basic literacy and numeracy (FLN) in this system, ‘NIPUN Bharat Mission’ was launched in 2021 with the goal of teaching reading and basic mathematics to all children by class three. At the same time, 4.2 crore children completed a 12-week play-based school readiness course through the ‘Vidya Pravesh’ program. While 1.1 crore children were enrolled in Balvatika and 496 model centers were opened. Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the National Education Policy.
2 DRDO conducted two successful tests of Pralay missile from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted two consecutive successful flight-tests of Pralay missile from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on July 28 and 29. Pralay is an indigenously developed solid propellant quasi-ballistic missile that employs state-of-the-art guidance and navigation to ensure high precision. The missile is capable of carrying a variety of warheads with different targets. It has been developed by DRDO, which is powered by state-of-the-art systems and navigation to carry out precision strikes with high precision. During the test, this missile has demonstrated its maximum and minimum strike capability.

Yogi Adityanath has broken Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant ‘s record of the longest continuous tenure as the Chief Minister of the state . Govind Ballabh Pant served as the Chief Minister of the state continuously for a period of eight years and 127 days (including his tenure as Prime Minister before Independence). As of 29 July 2025 , Yogi Adityanath has been in office for 8 years and 133 days . Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 19 March 2017. He returned to power in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election, leading his party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, to a landslide majority. Yogi Adityanath, whose birth name is Ajay Mohan Singh Bisht, was born in Panchur, Garhwal, present-day Uttarakhand.
4 Uttarakhand Chief Minister released the book ‘Sustainable Wellness of Students’

Taking a significant step towards promoting student welfare and mental health , Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released a book titled ‘ Sustainable Wellness of Students: A Collective Responsibility in Higher Education ‘ at a special event held in the auditorium of the Chief Minister’s residence in Dehradun on 26 July 2025. This initiative underlines the need to understand and address the mental and social challenges faced by students studying in higher education institutions .
5 Trade deal reached between US and EU, 15 percent tariff agreed upon

The United States and the European Union (EU) have agreed on a historic trade deal after months of tense negotiations , ending the long-running tariff dispute between the world’s two largest economic powers. The agreement was announced after high-level talks between US President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland . Under the agreement , EU exports to the US will now be subjected to a 15% duty, half the 30% rate proposed by Trump earlier. The deal is being considered the biggest trade agreement in history.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced the establishment of Bihar Rajya Safai Karmachari Ayog. This move has been a long-standing demand of the Safai Karmachari unions and aims to protect the rights, welfare and social upliftment of the sanitation workers. The Chief Minister shared this announcement through social media, making it clear that the state government is serious and committed to the interests of the sanitation workers.
7 International Monetary Fund raised India’s GDP growth forecast to 6.4% for the years 2025 and 2026

The International Monetary Fund has revised India’s economic growth forecasts to 6.4% for 2025 and 2026. GDP growth was previously expected to be 6.2% in 2025 and 6.3% in 2026. Reaffirming India’s status as the world’s fastest growing economy, the IMF cited favourable external conditions as the reason for the revision in the forecasts. Global economic growth is projected to be 3% in 2025 and 3.1% in 2026.
8 Army’s show of power with AI and ‘sensor-to-shooter’ system, ‘Divya Drishti’ exercise completely successful

Keeping in mind the future war scenarios, the Indian Army conducted an advanced technical exercise called ‘Divya Drishti’ in the high altitude area of East Sikkim . In this ‘Divya Drishti’ military exercise , advanced technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), drones and ‘sensor-to-shooter’ capabilities were successfully tested . During this exercise, the army evaluated the effectiveness of modern systems in real war-like conditions. The ‘Divya Drishti’ exercise reflects the technical capability, combat skills and strategic readiness of the Indian Army, which is considered to be a step giving a new direction to future war strategies.
9 International Tiger Day

International Tiger Day is celebrated globally every year on 29th July to raise awareness about the protection of natural habitats of tigers and their conservation efforts across the world . The celebration of International Tiger Day was announced on 29th July, 2010 in St. Petersburg with the aim to promote tiger conservation and management across the world. The number of tiger reserves in India has increased from 46 in 2014 to 58 now . This increase reflects the unwavering commitment of the Prime Minister towards the protection of our national animal. The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) launched by India aims to conserve the seven big cats found across the world.
