  1. Navjot Kaur wins gold in Asian Wrestling Championship :- Navjot Kaur has clinched first gold medal for India in the Asian Wrestling championship in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. She defeated Imai Miyu of Japan 9-1 in the final of women’s 65 kg freestyle. With one gold, two silver and one bronze medal, India were at the second spot in the medals tally. Vinesh Phogat and Pinki of Indian Railways claimed silver medals while Sakshi Malik won a bronze in the 62 kilogram category. China were leading the table with four gold and one bronze medal while Japan were at the third place with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

 

  1. ‘India by the Nile’ festival to begin next week in Egypt :- The mega annual cultural festival ‘India by the Nile’, organised to celebrate Indian culture and its diversity, will begin in Cairo next week with the main focus on classical culture this year. The 12-day event, the biggest foreign festival in Egypt, will host a wide range of events and starts on March 6. The festival which provides audiences an Indian cultural experience and encourages artistic collaborations between India and Egypt will be held in several cities such as Cairo, Alexandria and Port Said. The festival, which is organised by the Embassy of India in Egypt and the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture in collaboration with entertainment company, Teamwork Arts, is a celebration of contemporary and classical music, dance, theatre, visual arts, film, food and literature.

India, Bangladesh, Russia sign pact for Rooppur atomic plant :- Indian companies can now participate in construction and installation works in the “non-critical” category for the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Bangladesh, Russian atomic energy agency Rosatom said. The Rooppur project is the first initiative under an Indo-Russian deal to undertake atomic energy projects in third countries. This will also be the first time Indian companies will be able to participate in a nuclear power project abroad.
