1 Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds talks with James Marpe, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, in Port Moresby

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  held  a meeting with James Marape,  Prime Minister of  Papua New Guinea  and discussed wide-ranging bilateral ties. Mr. Modi said in a tweet that he and Mr. Marape had a productive conversation that covered the entire bilateral relationship between the two countries. After the meeting, Shri Modi   reached the APEC House . The house has   been designed to  host the meeting of world leaders for Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation and  is located on Ella Beach in Port Moresby . The Prime Minister   is co-chairing the 3rd Summit of the Indo-Pacific Islands – FIPIC . Leaders of 14 countries are participating in this summit.  Mr. Modi  in the year  2014 FIPIC was launched during the visit to Fiji . Shri Modi’s  visit to Papua New Guinea  is the first by an Indian Prime Minister . The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, received Shri Modi at the airport and touched his feet as a mark of respect.

 Virtually addressing the 76th World Health Assembly  in  Geneva , Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  said  that the ancient scriptures of India teach to see the whole world as one family. He said that   during  the presidency of G-20, India  is working with the idea of ​​One Earth, One Family, One Future . The Prime Minister said that India’s approach to good health is One Earth, One Health. He expressed appreciation for the establishment of the World Health Organisation’s first Global Center for Traditional Medicine in India. 4 Union Health Ministry signed an agreement between six AIIMS institutes including Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, in New Delhi

The Union Health Ministry  signed  an agreement  in   New Delhi between the six AIIMS institutes  and the Central Government’s  healthcare scheme . This will enable the beneficiaries of the Central Health Services Scheme to avail  cashless treatment  at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in  Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh, said the Health Ministry. will be available. The ministry said that this would also benefit retired central employees. Beneficiaries will get the benefit of state-of-the-art treatment facilities available in these institutions without the hassle of making upfront payments and claiming reimbursement. This initiative will save time, paperwork and also reduce delay in settlement of individual claims. The ministry said that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences will set up a separate help desk and accounting system for the beneficiaries of the Central Health Service Scheme.

5 High Court of Madhya Pradesh directs to stop cutting of Baobab trees

The High Court  of  Madhya Pradesh  has directed  the state government  to stop the cutting of Baobab trees  in  Dhar district . The decision  came after tribal communities  protested against the removal of these trees. The Court ordered the State to ensure that “not a single Baobab tree shall be cut by any authority for any purpose whatsoever until further orders of this Court”. There are about  1,000 baobab trees in the district  , some of which are centuries old and are of heritage and historical value. Trees  Biological Diversity Act, 2002 This means that commercial use requires permission from the State Biodiversity Board. Baobabs are deciduous trees whose height ranges from 5 to 20 meters. It  is of African origin  , but was probably brought here by African soldiers between the 10th and 17th centuries. It is known as the world tree in Africa ‘. Baobab trees can live for over a thousand years and provide food, livestock feed, medicinal compounds and raw materials.

6 UNEP introduces roadmap to reduce plastic pollution

8 Rudraprayag’s Tungnath temple tilted 5-6 degrees

The Tungnath temple,  located in  the picturesque Rudraprayag district  of  the Garhwal Himalayas,  has recently   attracted the attention of researchers from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) . ASI studied this temple and found that it is tilted. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conducted a comprehensive study to assess the condition of the Tungnath Temple. 9 NIA launched a nationwide campaign called Operation Demolish

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has  recently  launched a nationwide operation named  ‘ Operation Demolish ‘  targeting the interconnected network of terrorists, gangsters and drug smugglers . The NIA was formed in response to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and functions under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act, 2008. 12 Visakhapatnam police stations got e-malkhana facility

Visakhapatnam Police Commissionerate, Andhra Pradesh  is all set to launch e-Malkhana, a scientific storage system for assets and evidence,  in  all 23 police stations  by June 2023  . The aim of the initiative is to increase efficiency in the storage of recovered items. Previously assets and evidence were stored in traditional storehouses, which made retrieval difficult. With e-Malkhana the seized property and evidence will be stored in standardized cardboard boxes, each labeled with a unique number and additional details. dynamic QR code  will be generated and pasted in the box, allowing easy access to case related information through scanning. This technological upgrade streamlines the storage and retrieval process, ensuring greater transparency and convenience for law enforcement officials.

13 A Greater Flamingo was rescued from the Najafgarh wetland

17 India’s largest skywalk bridge inaugurated in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu  Chief Minister  MK Stalin  inaugurated one of  India’s largest skywalk bridges  on May 16, 2023  . This 570 m long and 4.2 m wide  skywalk bridge   connects Mambalam Railway Station and T Nagar Bus Terminus . Through this skywalk bridge project, there is a possibility of use by about one lakh people daily. The multi-modal project connects the railway station and the bus stand. The project is part of a larger multi-modal initiative aimed at facilitating pedestrian movement. The skywalk, constructed by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) at a cost of Rs 28.45 crore under the Smart City Fund, aims to decongest traffic on Ranganathan Street, Madeli Road, Market Street.
