5.Cabinet approves PM Gatishakti National Master Plan (NMP)

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan , which includes multi-modal connectivityThis includes establishing an institutional framework for its initiation, implementation, monitoring and support mechanism. Hon’ble Prime Minister launched PM Gatishakti NMP for multi-modal connectivity on 13th October, 2021. Empowered Group of Secretaries in the Implementation Framework (EGoS), Network Planning Group (NPG) and Technical Support Unit (TSU) equipped with the required technical competencies. The EGOS will be headed by the Cabinet Secretary and will include Secretaries of 18 Ministries as members and Heads of Logistics Department as member conveners. PM Gatishakti will review and monitor the implementation of the NMP to ensure EGOS logistic efficiencies. It is empowered to lay down the framework and criteria for any subsequent amendment to the NMP. eGoS will also lay down the process and final framework for conducting various activities at the same time and ensure that various infrastructure development initiatives are part of this joint integrated digital platform. EGOS various ministries like Steel, Coal, Fertilizers, It will also look after the works required to meet the demand for efficient transportation of bulk goods as and when required. The CCEA has also approved the constitution, composition and jurisdiction of the Network Planning Group (NPG).

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has dedicated a fund of Rs 1000 crore for providing credit guarantee to around 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) . This dedicated fund is under the trusteeship of NABS Protection Trustee Private Limited (NTPL) “ Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for FPO ” ( CGFTFPO).) will be placed under. The CGFTFPO Trust is signed by the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and NABS Protection of NABARD and is registered in Mumbai. NTPL is a subsidiary and is wholly owned by NABARD. The central government had launched a new central sector scheme in February 2021 named “Formulation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs”. The scheme was launched with a clear strategy and committed resources to promote 10,000 new FPOs in India.

Based on the recommendation of Sanjeev Sanyal , Principal Economic Adviser to the Ministry of Finance , the Indian Railways has ordered the dissolution of the Indian Railway Station Development Corporation ( IRSDC ). With this move ‘Indian Railway Station Development Corporation’, Indian Railway Alternative Fuel Organization (IROAF)It is the second organization under the Ministry of Railways to be dissolved after ‘Indian Railway Station Development Corporation’ is a joint venture of IRCON International and ‘Rail Land Development Authority’. Rail Land Development Authority is a statutory authority under the Ministry of Railways. It was incorporated in the Indian Railways on 12 April 2012 under the Companies Act, 1956. The equity stake of IRCON and Rail Land Development Authority is in the ratio of 50:50. Its main objective is to envision the creation of world class railway stations, so that sustainable technologies can be implemented as per the convenience of the users.

India and Russia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the mining and steel sector . The MoU was signed between Union Steel Minister Ram Chandra Prasad and Russia’s Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov . This MoU specifically focuses on coking. The signing of this deal is part of India’s National Steel Policy 2017. Under the National Steel Policy 2017, India aims to reach 300 million tonnes of steel production by 2030. The MoU between the two countries was signed in Moscow. It envisages commercial activities in coking coal and implementation of joint projects. Commercial activities include:
