1. Justice Arun Mishra will be the new chairman of NHRC
Retired Supreme Court Justice Arun Kumar Mishra will be the new chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) . The High Level Appointments Committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of the new Chairman of NHRC. Along with this, approval was also given to appoint Mahesh Kumar Mittal and Dr. Rajiv Jain as members of the commission.
2. Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair takes over as the 21st Director General of the Assam Rifles
Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair, the Assam Rifles, the 21th General assumed office as. Assam Rifles is known as the watchdog of the Northeast. Shri Pradeep Chandran has vast experience of Assam Rifles and North Eastern Region. He had earlier served as Inspector General and Company Commander in the Assam Rifles. Gen Nair has also commanded the Assam Rifles Battalion as a Brigade Commander. General Officer Shri Nair was commissioned into the Sikh Regiment in the year 1985. He is an alumnus of Sainik School Satara. During his command as Inspector General of the Assam Rifles (North) in Nagaland, he was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. Lt Gen Pradeep has also been decorated with the Yudh Seva Medal and thrice the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card while commanding a brigade in Manipur.
3. Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh takes over as Vice Chief of Navy
Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh took over as the Vice Chief of the Navy . Vice Admiral Singh was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 1 July 1983. He has expertise in aeronautics. Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh was awarded the Navy Medal for Gallantry in 2004 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2017. The current Navy Chief of India is Admiral Karambir Singh.
4. Tata Steel’s TV Narendran takes over as CII chairman
TV Narendran , the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Steel Limited , has taken over as the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2021-22 . He has taken over the leadership of the industry body from Uday Kotak, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., who has completed his tenure. Narendran, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, has been associated with CII for many years. He was the President of CII Eastern Zone during 2016-17 and besides being the President of CII Jharkhand, he has headed the industry body’s National Committees on Leadership and Human Resources.
5. CBDT member JB Mahapatra gets additional charge of Chairman
Jagannath Vidyadhar Mohapatra , a member of the CBDT , Ministry of Finance, has been given the additional charge of Chairman , Board of Direct Taxes for three months . The extended tenure of the current President Pramod Chandra Modi ended on May 31. In February, he was given a third extension till May 31. Last week, the government appointed three new members to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the administrative and policy-making body for the Income Tax Department.

Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha . He is the son of famous lawyer and member of Rajya Sabha Ram Jethmalani . Apart from Mahesh Jethmalani, President Ram Nath Kovind has also nominated Swapna Das Gupta to the Rajya Sabha. Swapna Das Gupta had resigned from the Upper House in March this year after being made the BJP candidate in the West Bengal Assembly elections .
8. WHO Approves Emergency Use of Synovac Biotech Vaccine
The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved China ‘s second corona vaccine for emergency use. WHO has approved Sinovac Biotech ‘s vaccine for emergency use in the corona epidemic. According to experts, this vaccine can be administered to people above 18 years of age. The difference between the first and second doses will be between 2 and 4 weeks. India has also sent vaccines to more than 70 countries of COVAX , but the supply has been stopped after the second wave of Corona. WHO now wants to fill this shortfall with vaccines from countries like China. Earlier, WHO has given permission for emergency use of Sinopharm ‘s Kovid-19 vaccine BBIBP-CorV made in China . This vaccine is a subsidiary of China National Biotech Group (CNBG) .Developed by Beijing Bio-Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd. Sinopharm’s vaccine is similar to ‘ Covaxin ‘ being made in India . Both these vaccines are made on the inactivated platform.
9. RBI canceled the license of Shivajirao Bhosale Co-operative Bank
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has canceled the license of Shivajirao Bhosale Sahakari Bank based in Pune . The Bank has ceased to do banking business from the close of business on 31st May. The bank does not have sufficient capital and earning potential. Thus, it does not comply with the provision of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. RBI found that the bank with its current financial position would be unable to make full payments to its existing depositors. The bank was placed under the RBI guidelines with effect from the close of business on May 4, 2019.

Awarded historian and writer Vikram Sampath wrote the second and concluding volume of the book Savarkar: A Contested Legacy (1924–1966) on the life and works of Veer Savarkar . The book will be launched on July 26, 2021 under the publication of Penguin Random House India . The first volume, “Savarkar: Echoes from a Forgotten Past” was released in 2019 and covered Savarkar’s life from his birth in 1883 to his conditional release from prison in 1924. . The second volume will throw light on the life and works of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar from 1924 to 1966, the year he died.

12. Madhya Pradesh government launched ‘Ankur’ scheme
The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh has launched a scheme named ‘ Ankur ‘, under which citizens will be honored for planting trees during monsoon . Citizens participating in this initiative will be given Pranavayu Puraskar for ensuring public participation in the programme . The participants will have to upload a photograph while planting the sapling and then upload another photograph after taking care of the plant for 30 days. Then the winners from each district will be selected, after verification, to receive the Pranavayu Puraskar. Citizens can participate in the tree plantation drive by registering themselves on the Vayudoot App launched by the state to manage the activities of the “Ankur” programme.

Pharmeasy has announced the acquisition of rival Medlife , making it India’s largest online pharmacy . The deal will make FarmEasy the largest player in the domestic online pharmacy space, with the combined entity serving 2 million customers a month. The deal values ​​Medlife shareholders’ stake at $250 million. Medlife customers need to log in to the FarmEasy app to start using their Medlife account through the same mobile number. All their digital prescriptions and one year old saved addresses will be available on the FarmEasy app.
