1 Patratu project changed the picture, Jharkhand became a state with surplus electricity.
Jharkhand has achieved a significant milestone in the energy sector. The second 800 MW unit of the Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) in Ramgarh district began commercial operation Wednesday-Thursday night. With this, Jharkhand has not only become self-sufficient in terms of power generation and availability, but has also joined the ranks of states with surplus power. Jharkhand will receive 680 MW, or 85%, of the power generated by PVUNL’s new 800 MW unit. Previously, the state was already receiving 680 MW of power from the first 800 MW unit, which began operation in November 2025. Once both units are operational, Jharkhand will have access to 1,360 MW of power from the Patratu project alone.
2 Chief of Air Staff releases book ‘The Second Orbit’ by Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla
Chief of the Air Staff, Marshal Amar Preet Singh, released Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla ‘s autobiography, ” The Second Orbit – Belief of a Man… Dreams of 1.4 Billion Hearts, ” in New Delhi . The book narrates Group Captain Shukla’s journey from a fighter pilot to an astronaut and his historic mission to the International Space Station as part of the Axiom-4 mission. It provides detailed information about astronaut selection, intensive training, mission preparation, and life in space. The event also commemorated the first anniversary of Group Captain Shukla’s historic Axiom-4 mission , which was launched on June 25 last year .
The Indian Air Force has been granted Full Operational Clearance (FOC) for the Airborne Early Warning and Control system, “Netra.” This will further strengthen the IAF’s capabilities for aerial surveillance, battlefield management, and enemy activity monitoring. It is noteworthy that the Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system was indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) . The Ministry of Defence stated that the certification was handed over at a ceremony held in Bengaluru on June 25th in the presence of Air Marshal Avdesh Kumar Bharti, Vice Chief of the Air Staff . Previously, the system received Initial Operational Clearance (IOC) in 2017.

is installed on a specialized aircraft
. It can monitor air, sea, and ground activities over hundreds of kilometers during flight.
It can detect enemy fighter aircraft, drones, and other threats in a timely manner.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation , in collaboration with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) , on Thursday launched ‘ Air Suvidha 2.0 ‘. It is a completely contactless and advanced passenger health self-declaration portal aimed at further strengthening public health surveillance at international airports . The move has been taken in view of the ongoing Ebola disease outbreak. According to officials, this new platform has been launched after the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the Ebola/Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on May 17.
5 Venezuela declares emergency due to earthquake
On June 24 , two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 struck the South American country of Venezuela within 39 seconds . The epicenters were in Yaracuy and Carabobo, west of the capital, Caracas . The hardest-hit areas included the states of Caracas, La Guaira, Miranda, Aragua, Carabobo, and Falcón. This is the largest earthquake in Venezuela in 126 years. The previous previous earthquake was a 7.7 magnitude quake in 1900. The earthquake has so far claimed 32 lives and injured more than 700. Acting President Delcy Rodriguez declared a national emergency. Metro and train services have also been suspended in Caracas and the neighboring state of Miranda. The main airport was damaged and had to be temporarily closed.
The 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting will be held in Gurugram from Thursday , under India’s BRICS Chairmanship 2026. Energy ministers and senior officials from BRICS member countries will gather on a single platform to strengthen cooperation on issues related to energy security, sustainability, and innovation. The theme for India’s BRICS Chairmanship 2026 is ” Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability (BRICS) .” For the energy sector, India has adopted the theme “Energy for All ,” reflecting the BRICS countries’ shared commitment to ensuring equitable access to energy globally. Currently, the BRICS grouping comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia. Together, these countries represent nearly half the world’s population and contribute approximately 40% to global GDP.
7 FIFA suspends All Nepal Football Association with immediate effect
FIFA has suspended the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) with immediate effect . The suspension was imposed for violations of FIFA regulations and third-party interference in its operations. Effective June 24, the suspension means Nepal’s national teams and clubs will be barred from participating in all FIFA and AFC competitions until further notice. ANFA, its officials, and member bodies will also be deprived of FIFA and AFC funding, development programs, and training opportunities. FIFA stated that the suspension will remain in effect until the matters are resolved and may be lifted before the next FIFA Congress if conditions are met.
India-China border trade is set to resume after six years through the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district . The first group of 26 Indian traders will enter the Tibet region. This group includes 17 traders and 9 assistants. India-China border trade resumed in 1991 but was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The resumption of trade after six years is expected to give a new impetus to the economy of the border areas.
9 International Day of the Seafarer 2026
International Day of the Seafarer is celebrated every year on June 25th to honor the millions of seafarers employed in the maritime transport sector that drives the world’s economy . This day highlights the contributions of seafarers who maintain the uninterrupted flow of global trade through oceans and sea lanes. Most of the world’s goods, fuel, food, and industrial products are transported from one country to another by sea by ships. International Day of the Seafarer was established in 2010. That year, the decision to celebrate it was made at a conference of member states of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The conference adopted important amendments related to maritime training, certification, and working conditions for seafarers, known as the “Manila Amendments.” It was on this occasion that it was decided to celebrate June 25th each year as a special day to honor the contributions of seafarers around the world.
10 Constitution Assassination Day
The Government of India has declared June 25th as ” Constitution Murder Day .” This day commemorates the Emergency imposed on June 25, 1975 , when constitutional rights and democratic values were severely affected in the country. It is also an occasion to pay tribute to all those who suffered repression, persecution, and difficult conditions during the Emergency.

International Drug Abuse Day is celebrated every year on June 26th . It was first celebrated in 1987. Its main objective is to raise awareness about drug abuse and its ill effects. In 1987, the United Nations introduced a resolution calling for a drug-free society. It was passed unanimously by all countries. Following this, International Drug Abuse Day was celebrated for the first time on June 26th, 1987, and has since been celebrated every year on June 26th.
12 14th Passport Seva Diwas celebrated in countries
The 14th Passport Seva Diwas was celebrated across the country on June 24. This day is celebrated annually to commemorate the enactment of the Passport Act, 1967 on June 24, 1967. This year’s theme was “Passport to Trust, Technology, and Transformation .” On this occasion, the government reiterated its commitment to the early implementation of e-passport technology. The Ministry of External Affairs, under the vision “Safe Passport, Smooth Service, Empowered Citizen,” emphasized making services more transparent and accessible to citizens. The Ministry of External Affairs also expanded services through the “Passport Seva Mobile App.”
