The textile exports of the country registered a growth of 31 percent from April to December last year as compared to the year-2020 . The Textiles Ministry said that the trade in the textile sector continues to be profitable and exports have been many times higher than imports. The financial year 2020-21 saw a slowdown in garment exports as the supply chain and demand were affected due to the pandemic. According to the ministry, the total exports of the textile and apparel sector, including handicrafts, stood at $29 billion 80 crore in the April-December period last year as compared to $21 billion 20 crore in the corresponding period of 2020. This increase reflects the economic recovery. The Ministry has informed that the export of Textiles and Apparel including Handicrafts has increased by 14.6 percent during April to December last year as compared to the year 2020.
