1.Government approves use of Corbevax, Covovax vaccines and anti-infection drug Molnupiravir in emergency

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization has approved the use of Corbevax, Kovovax vaccines and the anti-infection drug mollupiravir in emergency situations with certain precautionary restrictions . In tweet messages, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the first indigenously manufactured Corbevax vaccine has been developed by RBD and it is a protein-rich vaccine. It is made by Hyderabad-based firm Biological-E . The Kovovax vaccine will be manufactured by Serum Institute , Pune . Mr Mandaviya said that Molnupiravir will be manufactured by 13 companies in the country, which will be used in emergency situations to treat adult patients.

2.Government approves Production Linked Incentives-PLI Scheme for Textile Industry

The government has approved the Production Linked Incentive-PLI Scheme for the textile industry . Under this , an expenditure of Rs 10 thousand 683 crore will be made by the government over a period of five years . The decision has been taken to promote the production of man-made fiber apparel, man-made fabrics and technical textile products in the country. In this regard, the operational guidelines for the PLI scheme have been finalised.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has introduced Flex-Fuel Vehicles and Flex-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (Flex-Fuel Strong Hybrid EVs).issued guidelines for According to these guidelines, Manufacturers in India have been asked to start manufacturing Flex Fuel Vehicles (FFV) and Flex Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FFV-SHEV). This will help in reducing India’s petroleum imports as a fuel and at the same time will directly benefit the farmers. Automobile manufacturers have been advised to start manufacturing such vehicles in a time bound manner as per BS-6 norms within 6 months. In line with the government’s policy to promote ethanol as a transport fuel, flex fuel vehicles have the capability to run on 100% petrol or a combination of 100% bio-ethanol as well as a mixture thereof. The FFV-SHEVs are powered by robust hybrid electric technology. The move will thus lead to a drastic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles and help India follow through on its commitment in COP26 to reduce carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030.
