PM Modi  dedicated   three  revolutionary indigenous innovations to the nation at  the ” Emerging Strategic Technologies and Innovations Conference (ESTIC) 2025, ” organized in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST)  . The three innovations  include the QSIP (Quantum Secure Integrated Processor)the 25-qubit QPU (Quantum Processing Unit)  , and  CAR-T cell therapy .  The QSIP is India’s first indigenous quantum security chip  ,  developed jointly by scientists from DRDO and IIT Madras  . This chip is based on  quantum key-distribution technology  , ensuring completely secure communications against hacking. It will be used in defense, banking, and government data centers. The  25-qubit Quantum Processing Unit (QPU)  is   India’s first fully indigenous quantum computing chip . Developed by scientists from IIST Bengaluru  and  TIFR Mumbai  , this chip is based on superconducting qubit technology and can perform calculations millions of times faster than existing supercomputers. It will revolutionize drug discovery, weather forecasting, financial modeling, and AI training. India  has now joined   the select group of countries producing quantum chips, following the US, China, and Canada . CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell) therapy  is India’s first indigenous gene-based cancer therapy  , developed jointly by  IIT Bombay  and  Tata Memorial Hospital . This therapy will prove to be a boon for patients with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. The patient’s T-cells are extracted and genetically modified, which recognize and destroy cancer cells. While this treatment costs ₹4-5 crore (40-50 million rupees) abroad, it will be available in India for just ₹40-50 lakh (40-50 lakh rupees). Clinical trials will soon be completed and it will be brought to market.

8 China achieved the first success in thorium-uranium fuel conversion at TMSR

Achieving a historic breakthrough in nuclear energy , China  has successfully completed  the first  thorium-to-uranium fuel conversion within  a  thorium molten salt reactor (TMSR) —the world’s only operational reactor  . This success, announced on November 3, 2025,  marks a significant milestone in the development of fourth-generation nuclear technology  , paving the way for a safer, more efficient, and cleaner energy generation future. The thorium molten salt reactor is an advanced nuclear power system that uses molten salt instead of water as a coolant and thorium as a fuel. This system can extract more energy from thorium than conventional reactors can from uranium, and produces less nuclear waste.  Thorium-232 (Th-232)  is naturally abundant but is not directly fissile. It must be converted into uranium-233 (U-233)  through neutron absorption  . China’s achievement successfully achieved this conversion within the TMSR, representing a proof-of-concept (POI) of the thorium fuel cycle. This achievement is significant because it validates thorium as a next-generation nuclear fuel and enables the breeding of U-233 within the reactor, paving the way for sustainable, clean, and long-term nuclear energy systems.
