1 PM Modi flagged off six Vande Bharat trains in Tatanagar, Jharkhand, inaugurated several railway projects worth Rs 660 crore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also flagged off six Vande Bharat trains to boost connectivity and development in Tatanagar , Jharkhand . Along with this, the PM also inaugurated various railway projects worth more than 660 crores through video conferencing. This includes the Madhupur bypass line in Deoghar district, which will reduce congestion on the Howrah-Delhi mainline and reduce travel time between Giridih and Jasidih. Another important project is the Hazaribagh Town Coaching Depot, which will facilitate maintenance of coaching stock and improve overall rail operations in the region. The doubling of the Kurkura-Kanaron rail line will also play an important role in increasing connectivity to the steel industries of Jharkhand, further strengthening the industrial base of the state.

According to the Official Airline Guide (OAG) report, Delhi ‘s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has secured 24th position ( among the top 50 best connected airports in the world ), reflecting its growing importance as a global aviation hub. OAG is the world’s leading data platform for the global travel industry. According to the report, London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) has been ranked first and Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) has been ranked second. IGI Airport has been rated as the first Net-Zero Carbon Emission compliant airport in India. It is the only airport in the country to have four runways. It also inaugurated the country’s first elevated cross taxi-way in the year 2023. India has emerged as the third largest domestic aviation market in the world after the US and China.
3 India launched Operation Sadbhav to provide humanitarian assistance to countries affected by Cyclone Yagi
India has launched Operation Sadbhav to provide humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam, the countries affected by Typhoon Yagi . The Government of India has sent immediate relief material to these countries trying to deal with the impact of the storm. These countries are facing severe floods after the most powerful storm to hit Asia this year. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said that ten tonnes of relief material including food items, clothes and medicines have been sent to Myanmar by Indian Naval Ship INS Satpura. At the same time, 35 tonnes of relief material was sent to Vietnam and ten tonnes of goods to Laos by Indian Air Force cargo aircraft. These include generator sets, water purification material, cleaning items, mosquito nets, blankets and sleeping bags.
4th Eastern Bridge military exercise between Oman and India
The 7th edition of bilateral exercise ‘ Eastern Bridge ‘ between Indian Air Force (IAF) and Royal Oman Air Force is being held at Masirah Air Base, Oman . It will involve complex aerial manoeuvres, air-to-air and air-to-ground operations and logistic coordination. Its first edition was conducted between the two air forces at Thumrait, Oman in 2009. Other military exercises of India with Oman: Naseem Al-Bahr : Between Indian Navy and Royal Oman Air Force. Al Najah : Between Indian Army and Royal Oman Air Force.
5 Global Bio-India concludes successfully, Indian biotech startups launch 11 new products
The 4th edition of Global Bio-India concluded successfully on 14 September at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi , showcasing India’s growing biotech capabilities. The event was organised by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, in partnership with Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) from 12-14 September. Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology inaugurated the three-day event which highlighted India’s strengths in biotech innovation and biomanufacturing, the key areas driving the country’s bioeconomy. The event was attended by biotech delegates from India and across the world. The main theme of Global Bio-India was “ Biotech Innovation ” and “ Biomanufacturing ”.

7 Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances Department receives Rajbhasha Kirti Award
Secretary, Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Shri V. Srinivas ji was awarded the Rajbhasha Kirti Award on behalf of the Hon’ble Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, during the Hindi Diwas Celebration and All India Official Language Conference organized at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on the occasion of Hindi Diwas on 14 September 2024. This award has been given to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances for the best performance in Official Language Hindi in the category of Ministries / Departments with less than 300 personnel for the year 2023-2024 on behalf of the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs .
8 Indian Council of Medical Research signs MoUs with industry and academic partners to advance first phase of clinical trials on humans
Taking a significant step towards strengthening India’s clinical research ecosystem , the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has formalised MoUs with several sponsors under the first phase of its clinical trials network. These agreements are the first step towards initiating clinical trials on humans of promising molecules. These include collaborative research on a small molecule for multiple myeloma with Aurigen Oncology Ltd , partnership for Zika vaccine development with Indian Immunologicals Ltd , coordination of seasonal influenza virus vaccine trials with Mynvax Pvt Ltd and CAR-T cell therapy advancement studies for a new indication of chronic lymphocytic leukemia with ImmunoAct . This initiative is a significant step towards establishing India as a leader in the clinical development of pharmaceutical agents.
9 Submarine Escape Training Facility at Visakhapatnam- Vinetra inducted into Navy
Kalvari Submarine Escape Training Facility (VINETRA) was commissioned at INS Satavahana, Visakhapatnam on 13 September 2024 by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command . It is aimed at enhancing the crew escape capabilities from a distressed Kalvari-class submarine. It has been indigenously designed and developed, in line with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. It highlights India’s commitment on self-reliance in defence capabilities. It has been constructed by M/s L&T Defence as a turnkey project. Kalvari Submarine Escape Training Facility is equipped with a five-metre escape tower. This state-of-the-art training facility will be used to impart both basic and refresher training to the crew of Kalvari class submarines to ensure that they become proficient in the art of escape in case of a submarine distress.

The nation is celebrating Bharat Hindi Diwas on September 14, 2024 , which marks the 75th anniversary of the adoption of Hindi language as the official language of the country . The occasion, celebrated as the Diamond Jubilee of the Official Language, commemorates the historic decision taken by the Constituent Assembly on September 14, 1949 , when Hindi language in Devanagari script was designated as the official language of the Union of India. The Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs has played a key role in promoting the use of Hindi in official matters since its inception in 1975. Honoring this important milestone, Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah released a commemorative postage stamp to mark 75 years of Hindi as an official language at a grand function held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on September 14, 2024.

Every year 15 September is celebrated as Engineers Day in India . This day is the birthday of India’s great engineer and Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya . He was born on 15 September in the year 1861 in Karnataka . He is also called the Father of Engineering . One of the famous contributions of M. Visvesvaraya is the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam (KRS) built on the Kaveri River . This dam was one of the largest reservoirs of that time and played a major role in the development of South India. This project is still important for agriculture and water supply in the region. Apart from this, Sir M. Visvesvaraya also did a lot of work in the field of irrigation and flood control. He designed many dams, bridges and water distribution projects, which accelerated agricultural and industrial development in India. He designed a drainage system to deal with floods in the port area of Mumbai.
