1 PM Modi inaugurates International Sports Stadium in Odisha

 On  June 24 , PM Narendra Modi  inaugurated  the International Sports Stadium in Odisha  . The stadium  is located in Mayurbhanj district, the hometown of President Draupadi Murmu  . Great Sports Tech , a leading sports infrastructure company in South Asia, designed the stadium. The stadium aims to provide opportunities for youth in rural areas to pursue sports. The stadium features  a FIFA-standard football fielda World Athletics-certified running track  , and  tennis and pickleball  courts  . The stadium will also host night matches and features modern lighting for hosting events.

2 Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released the book ‘VIP Culture in India: Power, Privilege and Distance from Democracy’

Vice President Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan  released  the book ”  VIP Culture in India: Power, Privilege and the Distance from Democracy ” at Upa-Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi  and said that  the subject matter raised in the book by   Shri Nabam Rebia, former Rajya Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh  , and  co-author Shri Sandeep Kumar touches the core of democratic governance and public life in India  . The Vice President appreciated the book’s mention of the simplicity and spirit of public service of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and other eminent personalities. He said that the authors have enriched their analysis through references to India’s civilizational and intellectual traditions, including the Upanishads, Ramcharitmanas, the teachings of Lord Buddha, and the Panchatantra.

3 Binoy George appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Uruguay

 

Binoy George will be  the new Ambassador to  Uruguay ,  located in   the southeastern part  of South America  . The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement informing about this. The Ministry of External Affairs said that George, a 2006 batch IFS officer, currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, has been appointed as Ambassador to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. He will take up his new assignment shortly. Before the appointment, Ajneesh Kumar, India’s Ambassador to Argentina, was holding additional charge (concurrent accreditation) as Ambassador.

4 Bharat Dynamics bags order worth Rs 1,348 crore from Hindustan Aeronautics

 

Bharat Dynamics  has  received a military order worth Rs 1,347.71 crore from  Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)   , which  includes helicopter-mounted missile launchers  . This information was given by the state-owned company to the exchanges on Wednesday. The order includes  Helina launchers and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) worth Rs 1,109.37 crore and Counter Measures Dispensing System LRUs worth  Rs 238.34 crore  . Bharat Dynamics said in a stock exchange filing that the contract will be completed in 24 to 60 months. Helina (Helicopter Launched NAG) is an indigenous, third-generation “fire-and-forget” anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Helina launchers are specialized twin-tube stub-wing mounts fitted to Indian military helicopters (such as the HAL Rudra and HAL Prachand) to use these missiles against heavily armored enemy targets. Counter Measures Dispensing Systems (LRUs) (Line Replaceable Units) are modular, standard hardware components that form part of an aircraft’s defensive self-protection suite. Their primary function is to automatically or manually release chaff and flares to confuse and disrupt radar-guided or infrared-seeking missiles approaching the helicopter.

5 Nirbhay Chetna, the world’s largest initiative for women’s safety and gender sensitization

 The Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched a Training of Trainers (ToT) program on ” Nirbhaya Chetna ” (Nirbhaya Chetna)  in New Delhi  from  June 17-19, 2026  , under   the Nirbhaya Fund . This first-of-its-kind national initiative aims to raise awareness among over 1.75 million male elected representatives at the grassroots level about women’s safety, gender equality, and women’s rights. A group of 28,500 master trainers will be created at the state, district, and block levels to scale up this training across all states and union territories. Nirbhaya Chetna is one of three components under the Nirbhaya Raho initiative, launched by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj on March 11, 2026. The other two components are: Nirbhaya Netri  —capacity-building and legal awareness for women elected representatives. Nirbhaya Drishti  —installation of CCTV cameras at key rural locations for technology-enabled security in panchayats. The training module for Nirbhay Chetna was developed by Transform Rural India. The pilot batch included approximately 40 master trainers from six states—Assam, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Uttarakhand. The program adopted a participatory approach, utilizing group discussions, case studies, and experiential learning.

6 India and Israel sign an MoU on auditing

This MoU was signed on June 22nd between  the Comptroller and Auditor General   of India  (CAG) and  Israel  ‘s  highest audit body (State Comptroller and Ombudsman)  . Public sector auditing between India and Israel will involve independent scrutiny of the financial transactions and operations of government ministries, departments,  and  agencies  . The agreement aims to share advanced audit technology between the two countries to ensure transparency and accountability in government expenditure. Training programs will also be organized for audit officers from both countries. This MoU will enhance cooperation in the areas of digital audit, IT audit, and data analytics. This MoU coincided with the visit of Israel’s State Comptroller and Ombudsman and EUROSI Chairman Matanyahu Engelman to India. On this occasion, Comptroller and Auditor General of India K. Sanjay Murthy also held a bilateral meeting with Matanyahu Engelman. The meeting was attended by K.S., Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (HR, IR, Legal, and Coordination) from the CAG’s office. Subramanian, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) B.K. Mohanty, Director General (International Relations) Vimlendra Patwardhan, Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar, and Miri Weiss, Head of the Israeli State Comptroller’s International Department, were present.

7 India to become world’s leading ship recycling nation by 2025

On June 22, 2026  , India   was ranked as  the world’s number one ship recycling country for the year 2025. According to  UNCTAD  , India’s share in global ship recycling increased from 30.1% in 2024  to 35.4% in 2025. India recycled 2.99 million gross tons (GT) of ships in 2025, an increase of nearly 60% from the 1.86 million GT recorded in 2024. This also means that India achieved its   Maritime  India Vision (MIV) 2030  ship  recycling target five years ahead of the deadline .  The Alang Ship Recycling Yard   in Gujarat is India’s main ship-breaking hub. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attributed this success to policy reforms undertaken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The government is going to launch a monthly production index in July to monitor the growth of 8 service sectors.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI)  on Wednesday announced that it  will launch the Index of Services Production (ISP)  in  July 2026 to measure   short-term changes in  formal services sector growth on a monthly basis   . The ministry has also released a detailed FAQ to assist users. The FAQ states that the Index of Services Production (ISP) is a short-term indicator designed to measure changes in services sector output over time compared to a specified base period. It reflects changes in real output of service sector industries over time. The ISP will function similarly to the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), but will cover the formal services sector on a monthly basis.

9 Tamil Nadu government approves ‘Vetri Tamilagam’ document

The Tamil Nadu government  has   approved  the Vetri Tamilagam document , which provides for the gift  of a gold ring by the maternal uncle  . Under the scheme, newborns born in government hospitals to permanent residents  of the state  will receive a one-gram gold ring  . The state government has issued orders in this regard. An annual budget of ₹755.83 billion has been allocated for this purpose.

10 Hemis Festival begins with enthusiasm and devotion at Hemis Monastery in Leh

 The Hemis Festival  began   with enthusiasm and devotion at the historic Hemis Monastery  in  Leh , Union Territory  of  Ladakh. Thousands of devotees, tourists, culture lovers, and Buddhist scholars from India and abroad are participating in the two-day festival. Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor , V.K. Saxena,  attended the inaugural function. The festival began with traditional religious rituals, prayers, and the sacred  ‘Cham’ mask dance performed by the monks of the Hemis Monastery  . Dressed in colorful costumes and special masks, the monks presented spiritual performances symbolizing the victory of good over evil and peace, compassion, and harmony.
