7 World Wildlife Day

World Wildlife Day is celebrated  every year on  March 3rd  . This day is celebrated to highlight the importance of conserving wildlife and its natural habitats. World Wildlife Day reminds us that the Earth has limits, but humanity’s responsibilities are limitless. If we do not adopt sustainable development, green energy, responsible consumption, and conservation-based policies today, future generations will not forgive us.  India is among  the world’s  17 “mega-biodiverse” countries  . It  is home to approximately 8% of the world’s known biodiversity  , despite covering  only 2.4% of the geographical area  . The Himalayas, the Western Ghats, the Sundarbans, the Thar Desert, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are all examples of unique ecosystems. India has made significant progress in forest and wildlife conservation. The Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, the establishment of national parks and sanctuaries, Project Tiger, Project Elephant, and the Green India Mission all reflect a serious commitment to conservation. Theme of World Wildlife Day 2026: “ Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods”
