1.PM Modi to top CEOs: ‘India’s growth presents a win-win partnership with US’ :-

In a bid to promote the soon to be implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST), Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked top american CEOs to invest in India as it is emerging as a “business-friendly destination” and that things will only get better once the game-changing tax reform is implemented.

Modi was interacting with the CEOs of top 20 American firms at a round table meeting which was attended by CEOs including Apple’s Tim Cook Google Sundar Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and John Chambers from Cisco among others.

 2.PSLV-C38 Successfully Launches 31 Satellites in a Single Flight :-

ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C38 successfully launched the 712 kg Cartosat-2 Series Satellite along with 30 co-passenger satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota.

This is the thirty ninth consecutively successful mission of PSLV. The total number of Indian satellites launched by PSLV now stands at 48.

One of the 30 co-passenger satellites carried by PSLV-C38 was the 15 kg NIUSAT, a University/Academic Institute satellite from Nurul Islam University, Tamil Nadu, India.

The remaining 29 co-passenger satellites carried were 14 international customer satellites from USA (10), United Kingdom (3), Belgium (3), Italy (3), Austria (1), Chile (1), Czech Republic (1), Finland (1), France (1), Germany (1), Japan (1), Latvia (1), Lithuania (1) and Slovakia (1).

3.Karnataka to provide training to 10,000 domestic workers :-

The State government’s Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood (SDEL) has decided to provide training to 10,000 domestic workers this year in different cities.

Depending on the availability of domestic workers, training would be given for 30 hours with a honorarium of ₹ 2700.

It was also decided to set up a Karnataka Domestic Welfare Board for safeguarding the interests of domestic workers.

4.West Bengal Honoured with UN Public Service Award :-

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has received the highest prize in United Nations Public Service Award for the state government’s Kanyashree Prakalpa (Girl Child) scheme in The Hague, Netherlands.

Kanyashree Prakalpa scheme of West Bengal came first among the 552 project nominations received by the UN from 62 countries.

 5.Federer demolishes Zverev to win ninth Halle title :-

World number five Roger Federer clinched a record ninth Halle Open title on Sunday, crushing last year’s finalist Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-3 to lay down a marker in the lead-up to Wimbledon.

The 18-time Grand Slam champion, who skipped the claycourt season after winning the Australian Open and titles in Indian Wells and Miami, to prepare for the grass, is in ominous form and won in Halle without dropping a single set all week.

 6.Union Government launches VAJRA scheme to attract Indian scientists abroad :-

In a bid to bring together the Indian scientists abroad and India based researchers for conducting joint researches in India, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) launched a scheme named ‘Visiting Advanced Joint Research Faculty’ (VAJRA).

Under this scheme, scientists or senior researchers abroad – of Indian origin or otherwise – can collaborate with faculties here.

The broad areas of research like energy, health, advance material and others would be promoted under the scheme.

 7.India v West Indies second ODI: Rahane’s 103 helps India beat West Indies :-

Ajinkya Rahane hit 103 off 104 balls as India comfortably defeated West Indies by 105 runs on Sunday in the second one-day international at Queen’s Park Oval to lead the five-match series 1-0.

Rain reduced the match to 43 overs per side but India still reached 310—5 after being put in to bat by West Indies, with Virat Kohli (87 off 66) and Shikhar Dhawan (63 off 59) performing strongly.

Paceman Alzarri Joseph took 2-73.

8.Maharashtra government to launch ‘My Plant’ mobile app on tree plantation :-

Maharashtra forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar announced that a mobile app named ‘My Plant’, which would help in recording data about tree plantations in the state, would be launched on July 1.

Using this app, people and organisations can feed the data about the saplings they have planted with the forest department, which would help it in creating a database of trees.

The forest department has set a target of planting four crore saplings through public participation between July 1 and 7.

 9.SpaceX launches 10 satellites from California air base :-

A SpaceX rocket carried 10 communications satellites into orbit from California on Sunday, two days after the company successfully launched a satellite from Florida.

The Falcon 9 rocket blasted off through low=lying fog at 1-25 p.m. PDT from Vandenberg Air Force Base northwest of Los Angeles.

It carried a second batch of new satellites for Iridium Communications, which is replacing its orbiting fleet with a next—generation constellation of satellites.

 10.Government launches Liveability Index for 116 cities to measure quality of life :-

The central government has launched the “City Liveability Index” – a first of its kind initiative introduced by the Urban Development Ministry – to measure the quality of life in 116 major cities including capital cities and those with population over one million.

The cities will be assessed on a comprehensive set of 79 parameters to capture the extent and quality of infrastructure including availability of roads, education and health care, mobility, employment opportunities, emergency response, grievance redressal, pollution, availability of open, green spaces, and culture.

 11.Donald Trump meets PM Modi today, says will discuss strategic issues :-

US President Donald Trump had set the optics for the visit by tweeting, “Look forward to welcoming India’s PM Modi to @WhiteHouse on Monday.

Important strategic issues to discuss with a true friend!”

With Modi airborne, on his way from Lisbon to Washington DC, Indian diplomats waiting in the Nest lounge of the hotel, where Modi is staying, caught on to the “positive vibes” tweet, and within minutes, the Indian embassy tweeted, “And @POTUS has spoken! All set for a Historic Summit Engagement”.

 12.Price Waterhouse verdict to miss SC date :-

The final order by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) against Price Waterhouse in the Satyam matter may be delayed as both the capital market regulator and the audit firm want to seek an extension of the July deadline set by the Supreme Court in January.

While the SEBI wants the apex court to extend the July deadline by three months to complete the probe, Price Waterhouse favours an extension by more than three months, according to persons directly involved in the matter.

The case will come up for hearing on July 5.
