1 PM to attend Bharat Tex 2025 in Delhi on February 16
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend Bharat Tex 2025 in New Delhi . Shri Modi will also address the gathering on the occasion. Bharat Tex 2025, a mega global event, kicked off on February 14 and will continue till February 17. The event brings together the entire textile value chain from raw materials, finished products and accessories at one place. The Bharat Tex platform is the largest and most comprehensive event of the textile industry, which includes a mega expo spread across two venues and will showcase the entire textile eco-system.
In February 2025 , India and Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance quality assurance, standardization and global promotion of traditional medicine systems . This strategic partnership focuses on promoting cooperation in traditional medicine quality assurance, with both parties committing to various forms of collaboration. This MoU is the recent outcome of an earlier exchange between the Pharmacopoeia Commission of India for Indian Medicine and Homeopathy (PCIM&H) under the Ministry of AYUSH and the Food and Drugs Authority of Indonesia in January 2025. PCIM&H is certified under the international organization.
3 RBI approves Easebuzz to work as an online PA
In February 2025 , the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has acquired Pune (Maharashtra) -based Easebuzz Private Limited for secure digital payment solutions. a digital payment solutions provider, to operate as an online payment aggregator (PA) . This enables Easebuzz to remain an authorised payment platform, enabling it to process online payments for Indian businesses across various sectors, including e-commerce, travel, tourism, education and real estate. With this, Easebuzz joins companies such as Razorpay, MSwipe, Google Pay (GPay), Cashfree, Zomato, CC Avenue and Innoviti Payments, all of which have received PA licences from the RBI.
4 KSSL and L3Harris sign MoU to strengthen strategic communication network for Indian Armed Forces
Pune (Maharashtra) -based Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) , a subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited (BFL) signed a 2-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with New Delhi (Delhi) -based L3Harris India to advance defence and security solutions for India . The partnership focuses on Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) technologies. The MoU enables L3Harris to leverage KSSL’s local expertise to develop customised tactical communications networks for the Indian Armed Forces.
In February 2025 , Coca-Cola ‘s mango-based drink Maaza achieved a historic milestone by crossing USD1 billion in annual sales in 2024. This makes Maaza Coca-Cola’s third billion-dollar brand in India after Thums Up (2021) and Sprite (2022) . This positions Maza as the 30th billion-dollar brand for beverages globally. Maza is one of India’s most popular mango-flavoured beverages, originally launched by Parle Bisleri in 1976. In 1993, Coca-Cola acquired Maza along with other major Indian beverage brands including Thums Up, Limca and Gold Spot.
6 Sportico’s Top 100 Highest-Paid Athletes 2024: Ronaldo leads the list with USD 260 million
In February 2025 , sports industry news site Sportico released the 4th annual list of the 100 top highest-paid athletes , Cristiano Ronaldo , a Portuguese professional footballer is the world’s highest-paid athlete in 2024 for the second consecutive year , earning USD 260 million, including USD 215 million from salary/winnings (from Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr) and USD 45 million from endorsements. Stephen Curry (USD 153.8 million), an American professional basketball player, took the second spot, and Tyson Fury (USD 147 million), a British former professional boxer, took the third spot on the list. Female athletes were missing from the top 100 for the second consecutive year . Not a single player from India is included in the top 100. American professional tennis player Coco Gauff was the highest-paid female athlete in 2024 for the second consecutive year with USD 30.4 million .
7 The 4th South Asian Senior Athletics Championship will be held at Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium in Ranchi
The fourth South Asian Senior Athletics Championship will be held from May 3 to 5 at Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium in Ranchi . Sri Lanka Athletics Federation gave this information in a social media post. The federation said that players from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives will participate in the championship. This championship was to be held in Ranchi from October 4 to 6 last year, but it was postponed. The South Asian Senior Athletics Championship is returning after 17 years . This tournament was last held in 2008. The first two championships were held in 1997 and 1998.
