PM to inaugurate Ropeway at Girnar Prime Minister Shri Narenda Modi will inaugurate three key projects in Gujarat on 24th October, via video conferencing. Prime Minister will launch the ‘Kisan Suryodaya Yojana’ for the farmers of Gujarat. He will inaugurate the Paediatric Heart Hospital attached with U.N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre and a Mobile Application for tele-cardiology at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. He will also inaugurate the Ropeway at Girnar on the occasion.

2.Inauguration of Regional Raw Drug Repository of National Medicinal Plants Board at AIIA, New Delhi:- The Minister of State (IC) for AYUSH Shri Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the Regional Raw Drug Repository (RRDR) today at All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi through a virtual function. This RRDR is the second in the series of repositories proposed by National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH and will be dedicated to the Trans-Ganga Plain Region.  The event is graced by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary Ministry of AYUSH. There is an increased demand for the natural healing and herbal products across the globe. COVID has further pushed the demand and many of the key herbs like Asvagandha, Giloi, Tulsi, Kalmegh, Mulethi are on high demand. With the increasing demand for the herbal medicines, the NMPB which is already engaged in the development of a mechanism to ensure supply of quality raw material to the AYUSH industry as well as consumers expedited the process of establishing the Raw Drug Repositories.

3.Installation of War Trophy T-55 Tank at PCDA(O) Pune:- Army War Trophy – “T- 55 Tank” was installed in the premises of the Office of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Officer) Pune on  22nd October 2020.The installation of the Army War Trophy – “T-55 Tank” was inaugurated virtually from Delhi by Shri Sanjiv Mittal, IDAS, Controller General of Defence Accounts in the presence of Dr(Smt) Nirupama Kajla, IDAS, PCDA (O), Shri Mayank Sharma, IDAS, PCDA (SC), Shri Mihir Kumar, IDAS, Director NADFM & CDA(Trg) and other IDAS officers PCDA (O) Pune is a flagship organisation of Defence Accounts Department (DAD) under Ministry of Defence (Finance). The organisation is entrusted with the task of pre audit and payment of Pay and Allowances and all claims of over 53,000 officers of Indian Army from Lieutenant to Chief of Defence Staff serving over the length and breadth of the country.

4.Navy Operationalizes First Batch of Women Pilots:- The first batch of women pilots of Indian Navy have been operationalized on Dornier Aircraft by the Southern Naval Command (SNC) at Kochi. The three women pilots were part of the six pilots of the 27th Dornier Operational Flying Training  (DOFT) Course, who graduated as ‘Fully operational Maritime Reconnaissance (MR) Pilots’ at a passing out ceremony held at INS Garuda, Kochi on 22 Oct 20.

5.India Coronavirus Vaccine Update:- India Biotech Approves Phase III Trial of Corona Vaccine:- a big news is coming about the Corona vaccine in the country. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), India’s drug regulatory body, has approved the Phase III trial of Bharat Biotech’s Corona vaccine. Bharat Biotech’s Corona vaccine is one of the two indigenous corona vaccines in India. Apart from this, the trial of Zydus Cadila’s indigenous vaccine is also going on in India. Bharat Biotech vaccine is named Covaxin. Significantly, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India is developing biotech covaxine vaccine indigenously.

6.National Police Commemoration Day: 21 October:- In India, the National Police Commemoration Day is observed on 21st October every year. The day is marked to remember and honour the brave policemen who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.

History of National Police Commemoration Day:

On 21 October 1959, twenty Indian soldiers were attacked by Chinese troops in Ladakh’s Hot Spring area, in which, ten Indian policemen lost their lives and seven were imprisoned. Since that day, 21 October has been observed as Police Commemoration Day in honour of the martyrs.

7.Asan Conservation Reserve becomes Uttarakhand’s 1st Ramsar site:- Asan Conservation Reserve has become Uttarakhand’s first Ramsar site, making it a ‘Wetland of International Importance’, announced the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The Reserve is located on the banks of Yamuna river near Dehradun district in Garhwal region of the Himalayan state.
