These gallantry awards were given to personnel who displayed indomitable courage, exceptional valour and gallantry in the line of duty with complete disregard for personal safety.

3 India showcases climate action at the WTO Trade and Environment Week 2026
On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026 , India organized an event titled ” Showcasing India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) and Standardization in Renewable Energy ” during the WTO Trade and Environment Week in Geneva . The event focused on India’s efforts towards a low-carbon economy, clean energy transition, and achieving its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement. India reiterated that its approach to sustainable development is guided by the core principles of equity and common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities (CBDR-RC) of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change). India has achieved its key NDC targets under the Paris Agreement well ahead of the 2030 deadline: by March 2026, India’s non-fossil fuel-based installed power generation capacity reached 53.21%, successfully exceeding the 50% target by 2030. India’s GDP emissions intensity declined by 37.38% between 2005 and 2022, exceeding the NDC target of 33-35% reduction by 2030.
The process of establishing 100 industrial parks has begun to provide opportunities for industrial development in all states . On Monday , Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Bharat Industrial Development Scheme (Bhavya) portal for the establishment of these parks . States will be able to apply through this portal. Under this scheme, 100 industrial parks will be developed over six years, from 2026-27 to 2031-32, with a total financial provision of approximately ₹33,660 crore . In the first phase of the scheme , up to 50 industrial parks will be developed through a challenge-based competitive selection process . Twenty industrial parks will be selected from applications received by July 31, while 30 more will be selected from applications received over the next four months. Approval for the establishment of parks will be given based on offers made by states. The central government will provide financial assistance of up to ₹1 crore per acre. Private companies can apply for industrial parks in collaboration with states, and public sector undertakings (PSUs) can also apply, provided they have their own land.
On June 9th , Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the Digital Land Port Management System (LPMS) . LPMS is a digital platform that will simplify slot booking, payment, and tracking for cargo movement at ports . LPMS will integrate the operations of all land ports into a single system. This smart system will enable documentless port movement. This initiative aims to modernize and digitalize India’s border infrastructure, similar to airports and seaports. The primary objective of the LPMS launch is to strengthen and enhance the country’s border security. The LPMS system will facilitate trade and reduce security check times by nearly half. LPMS is part of smart border management. This system will provide instant access to logistics-related information at ports during business. This system will facilitate end-to-end digital transactions for cargo and passengers, including payments, tracking, and single-window clearance.
6 India-Nepal sign MoU for cross-border digital payments
On June 7 , India and Nepal signed an MoU to fully implement cross-border digital payments . This MoU was signed during Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal ‘s visit to India. This MoU included linking India’s UPI (Unified Payment Interface) with Nepal’s National Payments Interface (NPI) . Following this MoU , Nepali citizens will be able to make digital payments via mobile phone in India, and Indian citizens in Nepal . This facility will facilitate personal remittances (person-to-person) and other cross-border payments. Previously, Indian citizens making transactions in Nepal were charged between 1.3 and 2%. However, since January 2020, the service has been free for any Nepali citizen in India, for both UPI users and merchants. Following this MoU, any additional charges will be borne by International Payments Limited (India) and Nepal Clearing House Limited (Nepal). Since March 2024, Indian tourists have been able to make UPI-based QR payments in Nepal. Now, after this MoU, payments in both modes will become easier. India had signed an MoU for digital payments and remittances in 2023, which will now be implemented at the operational level. Along with this, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also signed an agreement with Nepal on 72 health sector and 12 cultural sector projects as part of the post-earthquake reconstruction projects in Nepal. India was the major donor for reconstruction in Nepal after the 2015 earthquake. India had pledged $1 billion in grants and loans.

9 Kerala: State Health Department tightens preventive measures after a child dies of Shigella infection
Following the death of a four-year-old child in Kerala from Shigella infection, the state health department has tightened preventive measures. Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has asked the Food Safety Department to increase testing. Shigella infection (Shigellosis) is a highly contagious intestinal disease caused by a group of bacteria called Shigella . It spreads primarily through contaminated food, water, or contact with the feces of an infected person, resulting in severe abdominal cramps, fever, and bloody diarrhea.
10 Reliance Infrastructure enters AI sector, changes names of subsidiaries
Reliance Infrastructure on Monday announced its entry into the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and new technologies . The company said that it has initiated the process of making AI and technology-based activities a part of its business through its subsidiaries. In a filing to the stock exchange, the company said that necessary steps have been taken to participate in the rapidly developing AI ecosystem and related technology areas. According to the company, new provisions related to artificial intelligence and technology-based services have been added to the objectives of some of its subsidiaries. In this sequence, the company has also announced the new names of its three subsidiaries. These will now be named Reliance AI World Private Limited , Reliance AI Apex Private Limited and Reliance AI One Private Limited .
11 In tennis, Alexander Zverev of Germany won his first Grand Slam title.
In tennis , Germany’s Alexander Zverev won his first Grand Slam title. He defeated Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in a thrilling five-set final at Roland Garros to win the French Open. World No. 3 Alexander Zverev won 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 in a four-hour and twenty-minute match played on Court Philippe-Chatrier. This victory ends Zverev’s long wait for a major title. Previously, he finished runner-up at the US Open in 2020, the French Open in 2024, and the Australian Open in 2025. The 29-year-old Zverev became the first German male player to win the French Open since Heiner Henkel in 1937. He also became the first German male player to win a Grand Slam title since Boris Becker’s Australian Open victory in 1996. Despite the loss, Cobolli reached his first Grand Slam final and broke into the world’s top ten for the first time.
12 ICC releases list of commentators for upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the list of commentators for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England and Wales . This year, the commentary team includes several legendary women players, prominent among them are former Indian captain Mithali Raj , Anjum Chopra , and Veda Krishnamurthy . Dinesh Karthik and Jatin Sapru will also be part of the commentary panel. The 10th edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup begins on Friday. The opening match will be played between hosts England and Sri Lanka at Edgbaston in Birmingham, while the final will be played on July 5 at the historic Lord’s. A total of 12 teams will compete for the title, and 33 matches will be played throughout the tournament.

Oceans cover approximately 71% of the Earth’s surface and are vital for human life, biodiversity, and the global climate system. World Oceans Day is celebrated every year on June 8th . The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about the importance of oceans and strengthen global efforts to conserve them. The concept of World Oceans Day was first presented during the Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. The United Nations later officially recognized June 8th as World Oceans Day in 2008. Since then, the day has been celebrated worldwide through various events, campaigns, and public awareness activities.

All India Radio completed 90 glorious years on June 8th . On June 8th, 1936, the India State Broadcasting Service was renamed All India Radio . This day is marked as a special occasion in the country’s cultural, information, and broadcasting history. After independence, All India Radio expanded rapidly, and in 1956, it was renamed All India Radio . To mark this occasion, a cultural program called Spectrum was organized at Rang Bhavan in New Delhi. Punjabi folk songs and Rajasthan’s Kalbelia folk dance were presented. These performances captivated the audience. Currently, All India Radio has 591 stations, broadcasting programs in 23 languages and 146 dialects , reaching 98 percent of the country’s population . All India Radio’s External Services Department, uniting the Indian diaspora, is spreading India’s voice to more than 100 countries around the world.
