1 Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth more than Rs 40,000 crore in Purnia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth over ₹40,000 crore for Bihar in Purnia district . The Prime Minister inaugurated the newly constructed Purnia Airport and launched flight services from the airport. He stated that Purnia has now emerged on the country’s aviation map. With this airport, domestic flights will begin operating from Purnia to other parts of the country. Prime Minister Modi also launched the National Makhana Board in Bihar . Bihar contributes approximately 90 percent of the country’s total Makhana production, with Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Saharsa, Katihar, Purnia, Supaul, Kishanganj, and Araria being the primary centers. The establishment of the Board will significantly boost Makhana production and strengthen Bihar’s global presence in this sector. In the energy sector, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for a 2,400 MW thermal power project in Pirpainti , Bhagalpur . Designed using ultra-supercritical, low-emission technology, the Pirpainti Power Plant is Bihar’s largest private sector investment. In the railway sector, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several projects and flagged off new trains. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the railway line between B. Kramila and Kataria, costing over ₹2,170 crore. This will provide direct rail connectivity across the Ganga River.
2. World Teak Conference to be held in India for the first time, Kochi to host

Kerala is set to host the World Teak Conference (WTC) for the first time . This prestigious international conference will be held in Kochi from September 17th to 20th . This event, being held for the first time in India, will serve as a platform for important discussions on the global teak trade and sustainable forestry. The theme of the conference is “ Sustainable Development of the Global Teak Sector – In Line with Future Markets and the Environment .” Discussions will cover aspects such as socio-economic issues, genetics, silviculture (forest management), technology, environment, and international trade. Over 350 delegates from 40 countries will participate in the event. The conference is being jointly organized by the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), TEAKNET, and the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), Japan. Technical support is provided by FAO, IUFRO, and MAFF, Japan.
3 India to host AI Impact Summit in February 2026, aims for $8.3 trillion GDP by 2035

India will host the next AI Impact Summit in February 2026. This announcement was made on Monday by Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav . The summit will discuss the safety and impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) . The previous edition was co-chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Paris. In preparation for this summit, NITI Aayog organized a special conference to showcase best practices in AI applications in districts across the country. The Union Minister stated that AI-based initiatives have improved learning outcomes in education, strengthened agriculture, and enhanced the quality of healthcare. On this occasion, NITI Aayog and NITI Frontier Tech Hub released the report “AI for Developed India: The Opportunity for Accelerated Economic Growth.” The report states that the use of AI can be a key tool for accelerating India’s economy. It is estimated that by 2035, India’s projected GDP could increase from US$6.6 trillion to US$8.3 trillion through AI adoption and innovation in research.
4 Railway Ministry makes Aadhaar authentication mandatory for IRCTC users for ticket booking from October 1

The Railway Ministry has decided that from the first of next month, during the first 15 minutes of the opening of general reservation , reserved general tickets will be booked only through the IRCTC website and its app by Aadhaar-authenticated users . Currently, this restriction applies only to Tatkal bookings. The Ministry stated that this decision has been taken to ensure that the benefits of the reservation system reach the common user and are not misused by unscrupulous elements. However, the Ministry stated that there will be no change in the current timings for booking general reserved tickets through the Indian Railways’ Computerized Passenger Reservation System counters. It also stated that there will be no change in the ten-minute restriction on the opening of general reservation. During this period, authorized railway ticket agents will not be allowed to book reserved tickets on the first day.
5 Big relief for UPI users, now they can transact up to Rs 10 lakh daily.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has increased the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) limit, allowing users to make large transactions of up to ₹10 lakh per day . This new feature came into effect from Monday and will currently be available only for select categories and verified merchants. According to a circular issued by NPCI last month, the limit for person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions has now been increased to ₹5 lakh per transaction , while the total daily limit has been raised to ₹10 lakh. This change will apply to sectors such as insurance premiums, capital markets, travel, collections, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). However, the limit for person-to-person (P2P) transfers remains unchanged at ₹1 lakh per day.
6 The government announced a special campaign “Paanch” to improve sanitation from October 2.

The government has announced a special campaign five , starting from the 2nd of next month, focused on improving cleanliness and clearing pending cases . The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution informed that the campaign includes various activities such as clearing various types of pending cases, better record management, space management, e-waste and overall cleanliness and beautification of office premises. The ministry highlighted that after the completion of four successful campaigns, the Department of Food and Public Distribution will continue to strengthen its commitment towards a cleaner and more efficient work environment.

10 India’s Anandkumar Velkumar wins bronze medal at Speed Skating World Championships

India’s Anandkumar Velkumar created history by winning the gold medal at the Speed Skating World Championships 2025 in Beidaihe, China . The 22-year-old Anandkumar finished first in the senior men’s 1000m sprint with a time of 1:24.924, giving India its first gold medal in the event. He had previously won India’s first senior World Championship medal at the same championships by winning the bronze medal in the 500m sprint, clocking 43.072 seconds. In the junior category , Krish Sharma also brought India home with a gold medal. Velkumar had previously won a silver medal at the Junior World Championships in 2021. This day marks the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya (born: 15 September 1861, Muddenahalli, Karnataka). He was a renowned civil engineer of India who made landmark contributions in dam construction, flood management and industrial development. In 1955, he was awarded India’s highest civilian honour “Bharat Ratna”. India first started celebrating Engineers Day in 1967.
