Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  will attend  the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit   in  France from February 10 to 11.  French  President Emmanuel Macron  gave this information on Friday. President Macron said that France will host the AI ​​summit on February 10-11. This summit will provide an opportunity for dialogue on AI. The event will focus on five key themes: public interest in AI, future of work, innovation and culture, trust in AI and global AI governance. The French Presidency highlighted the importance of addressing issues related to misinformation and misuse of AI, which are central themes to the summit’s discussions.

 In his  first ever podcast, Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi interacted with  entrepreneur and investor  Nikhil Kamath  on a wide range of topics. When asked about his childhood, the Prime Minister shared his early life experiences and spoke about his roots in the small town of Vadnagar in Mehsana district of North Gujarat. He described service, dedication and connecting with people as the keys to success in politics. He also underlined the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi and the importance of selfless service.

3 India Young Leaders Dialogue 2025

National Youth Day is celebrated every year  on 12th January in the memory of  the great spiritual leader, philosopher and thinker  Swami Vivekananda  whose unwavering belief in the potential of youth resonates deeply with the young citizens of the country. His inspiring life and empowering message urge the youth to cherish their dreams, unleash their energies and shape the future in line with their envisioned ideals. Youth, defined as the age group of 15-29 years, constitute  nearly 40% of India’s total population . To commemorate the 162nd birth anniversary  of Swami Vivekananda,  the Vikas  Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025 is   being organized  on  11-12 January 2025  at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi . Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya  formally inaugurated the Vikas Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue on 11 January 2025. Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  will also interact with 3,000 dynamic young leaders from across India, selected through a merit-based, multi-level process from among over 30 lakh participants on January 12, 2025 .

4 India to add 24.5 GW of solar and 3.4 GW of wind capacity in 2024, sets a new record: JMK Research

India  has set a new record   for  solar and wind capacity in 2024. According to JMK Research, India has  added  about  24.5 GW of solar capacity  and  3.4 GW of wind capacity in calendar year 2024 (January to December). This represents more than double the solar installations and a 21 percent increase in wind installations compared to 2023. The solar capacity added in 2024 is the highest ever recorded in any single year. India installed 4.59 GW of new rooftop solar capacity in 2024, which represents a 53 percent increase compared to 2023. This growth is mainly attributed to the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, which was launched earlier this year. The scheme facilitated 7 lakh rooftop solar installations across the country in just 10 months. The wind sector saw new capacity addition of 3.4 GW in 2024, 21 per cent higher than in 2023. 98 per cent of the installed wind energy capacity in 2024 was from three states of Gujarat (1,250 MW), Karnataka (1,135 MW) and Tamil Nadu (980 MW). Moreover, as per information provided by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, India has added nearly 15 GW of renewable energy capacity during April-November in the current fiscal year, which is almost double the 7.54 GW added during the same period last year.

5 India joins the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics

India has joined the UN Committee of Experts  on  Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics   . India will now contribute to shaping global standards and practices in using big data and data science for official statistical purposes. The Ministry of Statistics has said in a statement that India’s inclusion in this committee of experts is an important step for the country’s statistical ecosystem. This UN Committee of Experts was formed to examine the benefits and challenges of big data, including the potential for monitoring and reporting on sustainable development goals.

6 Trump is the first president in US history to be convicted

 Former  US President Donald Trump has become  the first president in US history to be convicted . Trump was sentenced on 10 January by the Manhattan Court of New York on 34 charges related to the case of paying money to silence a porn star. Currently, the court has acquitted Trump without any condition by not sending him to jail. This punishment given to Trump is only symbolic. Meaning, he will neither go to jail nor will he have to pay any fine. However, he will take oath as the US President as a person who has been proven guilty.

7 US-Japan impose new sanctions against Russia

On January 10,  the  US  and  Japan  announced  new sanctions  against Russia   due to  the Ukraine war . Apart from this, the US has also banned two Indian companiesSkyheart Management Services  and  Envision Management Services  . These Indian companies had transported liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia, which is a violation of US sanctions. At the same time, Japan has imposed sanctions on 11 individuals, 29 organizations and 3 Russian banks. Apart from this, action has also been taken against a bank in North Korea and Georgia for helping Russia. Due to US sanctions, crude oil prices increased by up to 3% and the price of crude oil in the international market crossed $ 80 per barrel.

8 Joseph Aoun elected as new President of Lebanon

Army commander Joseph Aoun has been elected as the  new  president  of  Lebanon . 60-year-old Aoun has got the new responsibility after two rounds of voting in the Parliament on 9 January. President-elect Joseph Aoun was the fifth army commander and was elected army chief in March 2017. Generally, in Lebanon, an army commander or public servant cannot become president until two years after his resignation. However, this did not happen in Aoun’s case and he was the army chief until he became president. In Lebanon, the president is a Christian, the prime minister is a Sunni Muslim and the speaker of the parliament is a candidate from the Shia community. There, the president has the right to choose or remove the prime minister and the cabinet.

9 India’s first robotic system performed telesurgery from a distance of 286 kilometers

SSI Mantra,  a  made-in-India surgical robotic system, has successfully completed   two ‘ robotic cardiac surgeries ‘ via telesurgery from a distance of 286 km. Dr. Sudhir Srivastava  performed   the surgery using the SSI Mantra 3 surgical robotic system  from Gurugram to Manipal Hospitals Jaipur . The telerobotic-assisted internal mammary artery harvesting procedure  was successfully completed remotely in just 58 minutes. The surgery  demonstrated exceptional accuracy with a low delay of only 35-40 milliseconds (one-twentieth of a second).  This ground-breaking procedure was followed by another world-first, robotic beating heart totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass (TECAB) procedure. TECAB is known as the most difficult cardiac surgical procedure. This procedure was also completed via telesurgery from Gurugram to Jaipur in just 40 milliseconds. Developed by SS Innovations, the SSI Mantra 3 Surgical Robotic System is the only robotic system in the world to receive regulatory approval for telesurgery and tele-proctoring. The recent approval granted to SSI Mantra 3 by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has opened the doors to remote surgery and medical education, enabling healthcare professionals to perform surgeries remotely.

11 Varun Aaron retires from international cricket

Indian pacer Varun Aaron has announced his retirement from international cricket   on January 10.  Aaron   made his debut  in international cricket in 2011. He played his first ODI against England at Wankhede. Varun played 9 Tests (18 wickets) and 9 ODIs (11 wickets) for India. Aaron took 173 wickets in 66 matches of his first class career at an average of 33.27. Varun  played  his  last international match against South Africa in 2015 .

12 Union Commerce & Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal launches India Clean Technology Manufacturing Platform

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry  Shri Piyush Goyal  on Friday   launched  the India Cleantech Manufacturing Platform  at  the India Climate Forum 2025  in  New Delhi . The initiative is designed to enhance India’s clean technology value chains in solar, wind, hydrogen and battery storage sectors  . During his address, Shri Goyal highlighted that product-linked incentives (PLIs) and subsidies are detrimental to the long-term development and growth of the clean energy sector. He said that the PLI scheme can only help accelerate the sector, but the clean energy sector must strive to become self-reliant. Shri Goyal further added that the clean technology sector must be independent of the government.

13 Swiggy launched SNACC app with 15 minute delivery

Swiggy has launched an independent app called   ‘ Snacc ‘ that promises  delivery of snacks beverages  and  meals  within 15 minutes . The initiative is in line with the growing trend towards faster food delivery services in the industry. Swiggy launched Snacc in select areas of Bengaluru on 7 January 2025. The app offers a diverse menu, including chocolate cookies, Indian breakfast, coffee, tea, eggs, rolls, sandwiches, meals and cold drinks  . Snacc has partnered with brands such as Blue Tokai and The Whole Truth as well as third-party food providers. Unlike Bolt, a feature on Swiggy’s main app, Snacc operates independently and uses products stocked from centralised locations, ensuring consistent and faster service.
