2,Mangarh hill declared national monument

In a report by the National Monuments Authority (NMA) , the top of Mangarh hill in Rajasthan has been named as a national monument in honor of 1500 Bhil tribal freedom fighters .announced to be named as The National Monuments Authority has been set up under the Ministry of Culture in accordance with the provisions of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) (Amendment and Recognition) Act which was enacted in March 2010. The NMA has been entrusted with a number of functions related to the conservation of monuments and sites through the management of restricted and regulated areas around centrally protected monuments. The NMA also considers granting permission to applicants for construction related activities in restricted and regulated areas. National ancient monuments are defined under the Ancient Monuments, Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958. The Act shall declare any structure of those ancient monuments as a monument or a cave, Rock sculpture or inscription which is of historical or archaeological interest. The central government is authorized for the maintenance, protection and promotion of monuments. Mangarh hill, located on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border, is the site of a tribal revolt where more than 1500 Bhil tribal freedom fighters were killed in the year 1913. This place is also known as Adivasi Jallianwala and there has been a demand to build a memorial here. On November 17, 1913, the British army opened fire on the tribals gathering in protest, led by a leader of the Govind Guru community, killing more than 1,500 people. It is the site of a tribal rebellion where more than 1500 Bhil tribal freedom fighters were killed in the year 1913. This place is also known as Adivasi Jallianwala and there has been a demand to build a memorial here. On November 17, 1913, the British army opened fire on the tribals gathering in protest, led by a leader of the Govind Guru community, killing more than 1,500 people. It is the site of a tribal rebellion where more than 1500 Bhil tribal freedom fighters were killed in the year 1913. This place is also known as Adivasi Jallianwala and there has been a demand to build a memorial here. On November 17, 1913, the British army opened fire on the tribals gathering in protest, led by a leader of the Govind Guru community, killing more than 1,500 people.

According to the United Nations report, India’s population of 224.3 million malnourished people has decreased in the last 15 years . However, there has been an increase in the number of obese adults and anemic women in the world’s second most populous country. According to the World State of Food Security and Nutrition 2022 report, which was released by the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), UNICEF, the World Food Program (WFP), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). There were 828 million people suffering from hunger worldwide in 2021, up from about 46 million in 2020 and 150 million since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

4.Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe dies

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has died. Japanese media NHK World has confirmed the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Shinzo Abe was shot while giving an election speech in the city of Nara. Abe, the country’s longest-serving prime minister until he resigned in 2020, was helicoptered to a hospital after the attack. It was the first assassination of a current or former Japanese prime minister since the days of pre-war militarism in the 1930s. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida described the incident as “extremely barbaric and brutal”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep anguish over the attack on his dear friend Abe. India has declared a day of national mourning on the death of the former Prime Minister of Japan.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur launched online portal DBT website and National Sports Development Fund portal for schemes of sports department . Launching the portal through video conference, Shri Thakur said that the government has provided various facilities to the sportspersons by implementing schemes like Lakshya Olympic Podium.

6.Environment Ministry organizes ‘Hariyali Mahotsav’ in New Delhi to raise awareness on plantation

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change organized a tree festival ‘H Riyali Mahotsav ‘ – in New Delhi . As part of the 75th year of the ‘ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘, this festival has been organized to raise awareness about air pollution and climate change and the importance of trees and green areas in environmental protection. Under this , saplings will be planted in 75 city forests, 75 km of roads around 75 police establishments, 75 schools in Delhi and 75 undeveloped places in the country .

7.Lt Gen Mohan Subramaniam appointed Force Commander of United Nations Mission in South Sudan

India’s Lieutenant General, Mohan Subramaniam has been appointed as the Force Commander in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) . He will succeed Lieutenant General Shailesh Tinikar of India. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced the appointment on 5 July. About 20,000 peacekeepers work with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to protect civilians and build lasting peace in the conflict-hit country.

8.Tata Power and Tamil Nadu sign agreement to set up solar manufacturing facility

Tata Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government under which it will invest around Rs 3,000 crore for setting up a new four GW solar cell and four GW solar module manufacturing plant in the state’s Tirunelveli district. . As per the agreement, both the sides will endeavor to move towards renewable energy and promote job creation in the state. The investment in the facility should be over a period of more than 16 months and should result in the creation of jobs, most of which would be for women.

9.Asit Rath appointed as the new CEO and MD of Aviva India

Private sector life insurer Aviva Life Insurance Company India has appointed Asit Rath as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director. The company said in a statement that Rath would assume his position on July 11. He will replace Amit Malik. Currently CEO of Prudential Myanmar Life Insurance, Rath has over 22 years of banking and insurance experience in India and Myanmar and has strong distribution experience with ICICI Bank and ICICI Prudential Life in India.

10.GreenCo partners with IIT Hyderabad to set up a sustainable science and technology school

Renewable energy company GreenCo has partnered with IIT-Hyderabad to set up a school where students will be trained for sustainable goals such as climate change mitigation, circular economy, energy transition . According to a statement from the company, Greenko School of Sustainable Science and Technology (GSSST) will open later this year and by June 2023, the first batch of students will be admitted for MTech and PhD programs in sustainable science and technology. After that there will be B.Tech program. It will be the first institute in the country to focus entirely on teaching sustainable science and technology. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was present at the time of signing of the MoU.

11.IGSS Ventures and Tamil Nadu Government MoU to set up Semiconductor Park

Chief Minister M.K. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Tamil Nadu and Singapore – based M/s IGSS Ventures Pte Ltd in the presence of Stalin for setting up a 300-acre semiconductor hi-tech park in the state with an investment of Rs 25,600 crore and grant . Industries Minister Thangam Thennarasu, Chief Secretary V. Irai Anbu and other top officials were present at the function held at the Secretariat. According to an official press release, over the next five years, the project is expected to provide direct employment to over 5,000 persons.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed monetary penalty of Rs 1.05 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively on Kotak Mahindra Bank and IndusInd Bank for deficiencies in regulatory compliance . These penalties from RBI are based on deficiencies in regulatory compliance and the validity of any transaction entered into by the bank with its customers does not come into question.

14.Father-daughter team of IAF fighter pilots created history

According to an Air Force release, Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma and his daughter, Flying Officer Ananya Sharma took off together in a Hawk-132 aircraft in Bidar , Karnataka . The flight took off on 30 May. The father-daughter duo created history by flying in the same formation of the Hawk-132 aircraft, the statement said . Never before has it happened in the history of the Indian Air Force that a father and his daughter have flown in the same fighter aircraft for a mission. It was a mission where Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma and Flying Officer Ananya Sharma were not just a father and daughter. They were also companions, who had full confidence in each other as cooperative wingmen. Ananya Sharma is currently training in Bidar.

16.SBI updates agreement with Air Force for defense compensation package

State Bank of India (SBI) has renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (AoU) with the Indian Air Force for the Defense Salary Package Scheme . SBI said in a statement that under this scheme, the bank will provide various benefits and facilities to all serving and retired personnel of the Air Force and their families. According to the statement, under the agreement with the Air Force, IAF personnel will be provided with comprehensive benefits such as personal accident insurance, air accident insurance, and additional ‘insurance cover’ in case of death in the line of duty. Apart from this, two other public sector banks Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Bank of Baroda (BOB)in a separate statement said that they have also entered into similar agreements with the Air Force. Under this, various facilities have been offered to serving and retired Air Force personnel.

17.South Indian Bank ties up with Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department for digital payment collection

South Indian Bank has signed an agreement with the Forest and Wildlife Department of Kerala to enable digital collection of payments at eco-tourism centres, Vanashree shops, mobile Vanashree units and eco-shops across the state. The Forest Department has set up Vanshree shops and units with the objective of marketing forest products, conservation and management of biodiversity, protecting the rich and sensitive ecosystem and raising the standard of living of the tribals working in the area.

18.NSUT sets up Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence

Netaji Subhas Technological University (NSUT) has set up a Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence to accelerate R&D . It focuses on model building in the areas of Image & Video Analytics, Speech Synthesis & Recognition and Natural Language Processing. Built for Rs 6.5 crore, the center houses a supercomputer named DGX-A100, 10 high-end workstations and eight graphics processing unit processors.

19.New airline- Aakasa Air allowed to start commercial flight service

The Directorate General of Aviation Regulation has given permission to the new airline – Akasa Air to start commercial flight service. Now this airline can start its commercial flights in the country. Terming this decision as significant in a tweet, the airline has said that it will start commercial flights by the end of this month.

20.Some states of America are in the grip of storm called Derecho

Recently some states of America were hit by a storm called Derecho , due to which the color of the sky turned green. Derechos are commonly found in parts of Central and Eastern America. The year 2009 saw a ‘Super Derecho’ which was the most intense and unusual derecho ever observed, it stretched from Kansas to Kentucky (US state) with wind speeds of 170 kilometers per hour. The first documented derecho was observed in Russia in 2010, the effects of which were also seen in Germany and Finland, and more recently in Bulgaria and Poland. A derecho is a broad, long-lasting straight-line storm, accompanied by heavy rain and thunderstorms. The name comes from the Spanish word ‘la derecha’ which means ‘upright’.

21.Delhi to host India’s biggest shopping festival in 2023

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that Delhi will host its first government-backed shopping festival from January 28 to February 26 next year . The festival will have 200 concerts for entertainment, food walks and huge discounts on products. This will be the biggest shopping festival ever in India. The Delhi Shopping Festival was one of the ambitious projects proposed in the Rozgar Budget 2022-23 presented by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in March this year.

22.Veteran Bengali filmmaker Tarun Majumdar passes away

Veteran Bengali film director , Tarun Majumdar has passed away at the age of 92. Tarun Majumdar was known for popular Bengali films like Smriti Tuku Thak, Mr. Prithviraj, Kuheli, Balika Badhu, Dadar Kirti, Chander Bari during his lifetime. He was instrumental in the rise of the Bengali film industry during the 60s, 70s and 80s. Tarun Majumdar was the recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award in 1990. He was the recipient of four National Awards, 7 BFJA Awards, 5 Filmfare Awards and an Anandalok Award.
