7. Government launches e-commerce platform ‘ONDC’ to onboard local Kirana stores

The government launched a pilot project, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) , a neutral, open source, non-profit, e-commerce platform aimed at mom-and- pop shops (small, family-owned or independent businesses) stores and grocery storeshave to be empowered. 50 (targeted) retailers and sellers will get to showcase their products on seller apps like GoFrugal, GrowthFalcons, Digit and eSamudaay that are connected to the ONDC network. The products will be delivered through Goodbox, the only logistics provider that has been onboarded so far. For payments, buyers can use PhonePe and Paytm to get on the network and buy goods from sellers. ONDC has an ambitious target of connecting around 30 million sellers spread across 100 cities in six months.

8. MoPSW to build India’s first indigenous hydrogen-fuelled electric vessel at Cochin Shipyard

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) is set to build India’s first indigenous hydrogen-fuelled electric ships at the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) . The hydrogen fuel cell vessel based on low temperature proton exchange membrane technology (LT-PEM) called Fuel Cell Electric Vessel (FCEV) is expected to cost around Rs 17.50 crore. 75% of the cost will be borne by the Government of India.

13. BHEL signs MoU with GE Power for development of Integrated Electric Propulsion System

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with GE Power Conversions to develop and promote Integrated Electric Propulsion System for the Indian Navy . The MOU can leverage the rapid absorption of advanced technology by the Indian Navy combining indigenous manufacturing to promote ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. It drives increased ship energy requirements, including pulse power for propulsion, high-power sensors, service loads and defense systems. GE’s naval technologies are shock-rated and proven on naval applications ranging from 3MW to 110MW, and include Naval electric motors and generators, switchboards, power converters, power management, and automation and control systems.
