Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  flagged off Assam’s first Vande Bharat Express train in Guwahati  through video conference  . This train  will connect Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri  and travel time will come down to five hours and 30 minutes. Please tell that this is  the first Vande Bharat train of Northeast and the third of West Bengal. Will be The trial run of this train took place on Sunday, 21 May 2023 between New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati. This is the second Vande Bharat train to run from New Jalpaiguri. Earlier, a Vande Bharat was run from New Jalpaiguri to Howrah. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Diesel Electric Multiple Unit and Main Line Multiple Unit shed at Lumding in Assam. Shri Modi also dedicated 182 kilometer long newly electrified railway sections to the nation. With this, electric trains will be able to go to Meghalaya.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India  CAG Girish Chandra Murmu has been  elected   as the external auditor of the World Health Organization for four more years .  His tenure will be from 2024 to 2027. Mr. Murmu has been on this post since 2019. In the first round of voting at the 76th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Mr. Murmu was elected with an overwhelming majority of one hundred and 14 votes against one hundred and 56.

3 ISRO launches navigation satellite NVS-1

Indian Space Research Organisation- ISRO  successfully   launched  the country’s  first second generation navigation satellite NVS -01 by GSLV-F-12  from  Satish Dhawan Space Center  at  Sriharikota  in  Andhra Pradesh . GSLV-F-12 successfully orbited the navigation satellite NVS-01. The 2,232 kg satellite is the first of the second generation satellites envisaged for navigation along the Indian constellation.

4 Indian Space Research Organisation- ISRO Chairman S Somnath said that Chandrayaan-3 will be launched in July this year

Indian Space Research Organisation- ISRO  Chairman  S Somnath  said that  Chandrayaan-3 will be  launched   in July this year . He gave this information after the successful launch of the second generation navigation satellite NSV-Zero One from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. ISRO Chairman said that the target is to launch Chandrayaan in July and ISRO is working in this direction. Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-up mission to Chandrayaan-2 which will demonstrate the capability to land safely on the Moon. It consists of an indigenous lander module, a propulsion module and a rover. The lander and rover will carry payloads for experiments on the lunar surface.

5 Union Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi has said that the government is working towards completely stopping the import of thermal coal by 2025-26.

Union Coal and Mines Minister  Pralhad Joshi  has said that the government   is working towards complete stoppage of thermal coal import by 2025-26 and for this transparent process of discovery and auction of new coal mines is in progress. He   was speaking at the inauguration of the first Mining Startups Summit  at  IIT Bombay . He said that through this event, the country is taking a step forward in the direction of converting the aspirations of self-reliant India into reality in this field. The Union Minister informed that 82 start-ups and 140 participants are participating in this first mining start-up conference.

6 Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni arrived in New Delhi, he is on a three-day visit to India

Cambodia  ‘s King  Norodom Sihamoni  has reached New Delhi on a three-day visit to India. Minister of State for External Affairs  Rajkumar Ranjan Singh  received the Cambodian King.  There will be bilateral meetings with President  Draupadi Murmu  and Prime Minister  Narendra Modi . The visit   is taking place to mark the completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Cambodia. This visit of the King of Cambodia to India is taking place after six decades. India and Cambodia enjoy warm and friendly relations characterized by cultural and economic ties and deep people-to-people ties.

Shri Praveen Kumar Srivastava  took   oath as the Central Vigilance Commissioner . President  Draupadi Murmu  administered him the oath of office and secrecy. Shri Srivastava is a 1988 batch retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the Assam Meghalaya Cadre.

8 Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria

Defense Minister  Rajnath Singh   will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Nigeria  ‘s President-elect  Bola Ahmed Tinubu  in  Abuja . He is on a three-day visit to Nigeria. His visit will further strengthen India-Nigeria bilateral relations. This is the first visit of an Indian Defense Minister to Nigeria. In view of the growing defense cooperation between India and Nigeria, senior officials of the Ministry of Defense and top leadership of important Defense PSUs also accompanied Shri Singh. Shri Singh will hold a meeting with representatives of Nigerian industry and the Armed Forces.

9 India’s Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam to start second hydroelectric project Arun-4 in Nepal

Nepal  has  given permission to India  ‘s  Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam – SJVN  to start the second hydroelectric project  in Nepal  . SJVN is currently   developing the 900 MW Arun-3 Hydroelectric Project  on  the Arun River in eastern Nepal. It is likely to be completed in the year 2024. The draft project development agreement was approved at a meeting of the Nepal Investment Board chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, an official statement said. The agreement will be signed with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam of India to develop the 669 MW Lower Arun Hydroelectric Project in Eastern Nepal.

10. Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to launch a trade mission in India

11 Bandra-Versova sea route to be renamed as Swatantra Veer Savarkar Bandra-Versova Sagari Setu, Maharashtra CM announces

Maharashtra  Chief Minister  Eknath Shinde  has announced that   the Bandra-Versova sea route  in   Mumbai will  be renamed as Swatantra Veer Savarkar Bandra-Versova Sagari Setu .  He said this at a program organized on the 140th birth anniversary of Swatantra Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in Mumbai  . He also said that Swatantra Veer Savarkar Shaurya Puraskar  will also be given  for incomparable works in the state on the lines of the  gallantry award given by the Central Government. 

12 Jammu and Kashmir’s Jammu Zoo to be opened to the public

 With a view to tap the potential of  Jammu tourism  in  Jammu and Kashmir, the  ambitious  Jammu Zoo near Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu  will be thrown open to the public.  Named after King Jambu Lochan , the founder of the city of Jammu,  the zoo will have artificial waterfalls and 27 species of animals including Royal Bengal Tiger, Asiatic Lion, Leopard, Bear, Crocodile. Situated on more than three thousand 32 hundred kanals of land in Nagrota area on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway, this zoo is considered to be the largest zoo in North India and will be a major center of tourism for travelers coming to Kashmir or Mata Vaishno Devi.

13 Kerala tops NITI Aayog’s Health Index 2020-21

NITI Aayog  ‘s Annual ‘ Health Index ‘ for Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana  during the Covid period for  the year 2020-21‘ has emerged as the top performer among the ‘big states’. Among the 19 ‘large states’, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana have secured the first, second and third places, respectively, in terms of overall performance. Bihar (19th), Uttar Pradesh (18th) and Madhya Pradesh (17th) rank last in the list. Among the eight smaller states, Tripura recorded the best overall performance, followed by Sikkim and Goa; Arunachal Pradesh (6th), Nagaland (7th) and Manipur (8th) rank last in the list. Among the eight Union Territories, Lakshadweep has been ranked as the top performer in terms of overall performance, while Delhi has been ranked the last. Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Odisha have emerged as the top three performers in the year 2020-21 as compared to their performance in the year 2019-20.

15 UPI transfers to dominate the Indian digital payments landscape by 2027

According to a report titled   ” The Indian Payments Handbook – 2022-27 ” by PwC India (PricewaterhouseCoopers) , the value of Unified Payments Interface (UPI)  transactions   is estimated to reach $1 billion per day by FY 2026-27 .  Under this, 90% increase in terms of retail digital payments in the country which will further strengthen the position of UPI in India’s digital payments system. The report states that during the financial year 2022-23, about 75% of the total transfers in the retail sector were done in UPI. The Indian digital payments market is expected to witness a significant compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 50% in terms of transaction volume with an estimated growth of 103 billion transactions in FY 2022-23 to 411 billion transactions in FY 2026-27. Further, the report shows the profitability of the credit card business, which accounts for about 76% of the total card revenue in the year 2022-2023. It added that the revenue from credit card issuance witnessed a substantial growth of 42% over the previous year and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 33% over the next five years.

18 FY24 GDP growth rate estimated to be 6-6.5 percent: BoB Eco Research

19 Bank of Maharashtra: Top in NPA Management

Pune-  based state-owned lender   Bank  of Maharashtra (BoM) has been ranked as the best bank in managing bad loans by achieving a  remarkably low  net non-performing assets (NPA)  ratio of 0.25%  during the financial year ending  March 2023. recognized as such. This is the lowest ratio among not only public sector banks (PSBs) but all banks with a total business of more than ₹3 lakh crore, according to the published annual numbers of banks. HDFC Bank’s net NPAs fell to 0.27 per cent followed by the Pune-based state-owned lender and Kotak Mahindra Bank with 0.37 per cent net advances.

20 New rules issued for  SPGs

Recently,   new rules have been introduced to strengthen the Special Protection Group and optimize its operations.
