1 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly constructed Jammu Railway Division through virtual medium

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  inaugurated   the  new railway division of Jammu  and  Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana  through  video conference  on  January 6. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of Raigad Railway Division Building  of  East Coast Railway . Currently, there are a total of 17 zones and 68 divisions  of railways in the country  . Udhampur, Srinagar, Baramulla rail link will be covered  in Jammu Railway Division   . At the same time, Charlapalli New Terminal Station is located in Medkal-Malkajgiri district of Telangana, which has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 413 crore. Apart from this, Raigad Railway Division Building was constructed to improve connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and surrounding areas.

2 PM Modi inaugurates Namo Bharat Rail Corridor

 

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Rail Corridor   between  New Ashok Nagar station  of   the  capital Delhi and Sahibabad of Ghaziabad  on January 5.  Through this, passengers traveling from Delhi to Meerut will be able to complete their journey in just 40 minutes. Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will pass through a total of 11 stations from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South. The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail project  has been linked with the PM Gati Shakti Central Master Plan,  which aims to make the journey of people seamless, safe and convenient.

3 Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched ‘Bharatpol’ portal

Home Minister  Amit Shah  launched  the BharatPol Portal developed by  the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)   in   New Delhi . The BharatPol Portal aims to streamline processing of all requests for international assistance  through   INTERPOL  , including issuance of Red Notices and other INTERPOL notices. The BharatPol Portal will provide significant facilitation to law enforcement agencies in accessing real-time information. The portal has been developed to combat cyber, financial and organised crime; online radicalisation and transnational crimes including drug and human trafficking. The portal will bring all stakeholders on a common platform. On the occasion, Shri Amit Shah   presented Police Medals to  35 CBI officers and staff who  have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Union Home Minister’s Medal  for Excellence in Investigation  .

4 Justin Trudeau announces resignation as Canada’s Prime Minister, will remain in office until new leader is elected

Canadian  Prime Minister  Justin Trudeau  announced that he  will resign as leader of the Liberal Party  and  as Prime Minister  . However, he will remain in office until the party elects a new leader. It is worth noting that this decision has been taken after increasing pressure within the party, with recent surveys indicating that the Liberal Party is likely to face a major defeat in the next election. Justin Trudeau took over as   Prime Minister in November 2015  and was re-elected twice  . But in the last two years his popularity started falling, especially due to inflation and lack of housing, public anger increased. The opposition  Conservative Party  is likely to win a big victory in the next election to be held by October. Conservative leader  Pierre Poilievre , who supported the demonstration of truck drivers against the Kovid-19 vaccine in 2022, is rapidly becoming popular among the public.

 

5 Centre introduces two special category visas for international students

 

The Home Ministry of the Government of India   on January 5  introduced two special categories of visas  for  international students  – ‘ e-student visa ‘ and ‘ e-student-X visa ‘. E-student visa will be issued to foreign students who want admission in graduation, post-graduation, doctoral or certificate programs in recognized educational institutions in India.  E-student visa will be valid for 5 years  . It can also be extended later. To avail this visa, students will have to apply through the ‘ Study in India (SII)’  portal. India’s SII program includes more than 600 educational institutions that provide more than 8,000 courses in specialized areas such as engineering, management, science, art, yoga and Buddhist studies.

6 Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru to host 15th Aero India 2025

Asia  ‘s largest air show ‘ Aero India 2025 ‘   will be held between  10 and 14 February . Aero India 2025  will be held at Yelahanka  in  Bengaluru, Karnataka . The theme of this event is – ‘ Runway to a Billion Opportunities ‘. People will be allowed to watch the air show on 13 and 14 February. Bilateral meetings with friendly countries will also be held during the event. CEOs of various companies, domestic public CMDs and leading private defense and aerospace manufacturing companies of India will participate in this program.

7 Congress announced ‘Pyaari Didi Yojana’ to give Rs 2500 per month to women if it comes to power in Delhi

 In view of  the Delhi Assembly elections , Congress  has  announced ‘ Pyaari Didi Yojana ‘  to give Rs 2500 per month to women  if it comes to power in  Delhi . Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar and Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav gave this information. Mr. Yadav said that every woman in Delhi needed to be given Rs 2500. He said that it is the responsibility of Congress to take care of women due to unemployment, inflation and atrocities being committed on them.

8 Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the second phase of ‘Panchayat se Sansad’ programme in New Delhi

 

Lok Sabha Speaker  Om Birla  inaugurated the second phase of the  ‘ Panchayat to Sansad ‘ program  in  New Delhi .  About 500 women representatives elected from Panchayati Raj institutions  of 20 states and union territories  are participating in this program. Its objective  is to empower women representatives elected from Scheduled Tribes of Panchayati Raj institutions  . Along with this, these women were encouraged to know about constitutional arrangements, parliamentary process and effective leadership.

9 Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh launched ‘Organic Fisheries Cluster’ in Sikkim

Union Minister  Rajiv Ranjan Singh aka Lallan Singh  on Monday  inaugurated 50 major projects worth Rs 50 crore under  the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)   in  Guwahati  ,  Assam  . The project   covers all the states in the northeastern region  except Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram . Apart from this, the Union Fisheries Minister launched  the country’s first ‘ organic fisheries cluster ‘ in Sikkim . The fisheries and aquaculture sector plays a vital role in India’s economy, providing livelihood to about 3 crore fishermen and fish farmers. These projects aim to create employment opportunities in the northeastern states. Also, to increase the infrastructure and productivity of fisheries.

10 Union Industry Minister HD Kumaraswamy launched PLI Scheme 1.1

Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries  H. D. Kumaraswamy  on   6  January launched the second round  of PLI Scheme for Specialty Steel   , called PLI Scheme 1.1,  in New Delhi . Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Kumaraswamy said that the Ministry of Steel  has launched  PLI Scheme 1.1 for Specialty Steel for 5 product categories , which is similar to the existing PLI Scheme. The ‘PLI Scheme 1.1’ will be open from 6 January to 31 January 2025.  The PLI Scheme for Specialty Steel has brought to the forefront the issue of developing self-sufficiency in the production of specialty steel. The country will benefit from reduction in imports of specialty steel, achieving ‘self-sufficiency’ through capacity building, ensuring investments for job creation and moving up the value chain in the steel business. The Ministry of Steel on  July 29, 2021  notified the first round of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Specialty Steels with a budgetary outlay of ₹6,322 crore.
