In a major discovery, ASI has unearthed amazing archaeological remains in Bandhavgarh Forest Reserve in Madhya Pradesh . During the discovery by the ASI, 26 ancient temples/relics from the Kalachuri period (9th century CE to 11th century CE), 26 caves (2nd century CE to 5th century CE mostly related to Buddhism), 2 monasteries, 2 stupas, 24 Brahmi inscriptions (2nd century CE to 5th century CE), 46 sculptures, 20 scattered relics and 19 water formations (2nd to 15th century CE) have been found. Varaha idol one of the 46 idolsIt is also one of the largest sculptures. The remains or things that have been unearthed are related to the reign of King Sri Bhimsen, Maharaja Pothasiri and Bhattadeva. The inscriptions mention places like Kaushambi, Mathura, Pavta (mountain), Vejbharda and Sapatnairika. An ASI team unearthed these ancient things in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve area after a month-long search in an area of ​​about 170 sq km. The work of exploration was started here for the first time after 1938. The discovery was made under ASI’s Jabalpur circle.
