1.President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurates the National Convention of Women Legislators in Thiruvananthapuram

Addressing the National Conference of Women Legislators in Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala , President Ram Nath Kovind said that women are passing through challenging times in life and women have shown their wisdom in fighting the COVID pandemic strongly. Appreciating the initiative of the Government of Kerala for women empowerment, Shri Kovind mentioned that three out of the 15 women members in the Constituent Assembly were from Kerala. Organized by the Kerala Legislative Assembly, this two-day conference is the first of its kind in the country. There will be various sessions on important topics. Women MPs, MLAs and Speakers of Legislative Assembly are participating in the conference.

Writer Geetanjali Shree ‘s novel ‘ Tomb of Sand ‘ won the International Booker Prize . It is the first Hindi language book to win the title . Let us tell you that Gitanjali Shree’s novel was published in Hindi under the name ‘ Reet Samadhi ‘, which was translated into English by Daisy Rockwell and named ‘Tomb of Sand’. It was one of the 13 books in the world that were included in the list of the International Booker Prize. ‘Tomb of Sand’ became the first Hindi language work when it was ‘shortlisted’ for the International Booker Prize. Now it has also got the Booker Prize of 2022.

4.Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus re-elected Director General of the World Health Organization

The World Health Organization has reappointed Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as the Director-General of WHO for a second term with effect from 16 August 2022 . His re-election was confirmed during the 75th World Health Assembly in Geneva. He was the only candidate. Dr Tedros was first elected in 2017. Prior to joining WHO, Dr Tedros served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Health in Ethiopia.

5.National Achievement Survey Report (NAS) 2021 released by the Ministry of Education

The Department of School Education and Literacy , Ministry of Education has conducted the National Achievement Survey (NAS), 2021.It examines the health of the school education system in the country by doing a comprehensive analysis of the learning ability of class III, V, VIII and X students every three years. It represents a holistic analysis of the school education system. The last survey was done in 2017. NAS 2021, conducted on 12.11.2021 at All India level, consisted of (a) Government Schools (Central Government and State Government Schools) (b) Government Aided Schools (c) Private Schools, which were provided government aid It is not done. Language, maths and environment subjects for class III and V, language, mathematics, science and social science for class VIII, language, mathematics, science, social science and English for class X were included in this survey. 1 of 720 districts located in urban and rural areas in NAS 2021. 34 lakh students from 18 lakh schools had participated. By releasing the National Report Card, it has also been made public on nas.gov.in. This will give impetus to the analysis of results and remedial efforts at the relevant level.

6.Environment clearance for red stone mining at Banshi Paharpur in Rajasthan

Environment clearance has been received for mining of red stone at Banshi Paharpur , Bharatpur in Rajasthan . This permission has been given by the State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority. According to the official release, 12 out of total 41 mining lease holders will be able to start mining work soon. The remaining lessees are likely to get permission next month. 41 plots for mining were e-auctioned here through the Government of India portal. In view of the increasing demand for pink and red stones of Banshi Paharpur across the country, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had directed to stop illegal mining here and make all possible efforts to allow legal mining. With the start of mining work, thousands of people of the area will get direct and indirect employment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent 28 thousand five hundred 40 crores in Chennai .Laid the foundation stone of six important projects worth more than Rs. This will further strengthen the infrastructure in the country. Shri Modi also dedicated five projects prepared at a cost of two thousand nine hundred 60 crores to the nation. The cost of all these 11 projects is about 31 thousand five hundred crore rupees. Some of the completed projects include the third broad-gauge line connecting Tambaram and Chengalpattu in the periphery of Chennai. Under another project, the 75-km long Madurai-Theni short line has been converted into a major line. The project has been implemented at a cost of more than Rs 500 crore. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the ambitious Chennai-Bengaluru Expressway worth Rs.14 thousand eight hundred and 70 crores. This Expressway Tamil Nadu, Will pass through Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka. Another major project is the four-lane 21 kilometer long double decker elevated road project connecting Chennai port and Maduravoyal, which will be built at a cost of more than five thousand eight hundred and fifty crore rupees. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the work of redevelopment of five railway stations at Chennai Egmore, Rameswaram, Madurai, Katpadi and Kanyakumari at a cost of one thousand eight hundred crore rupees.

8.Two days lavender festival organized in Bhaderwah city of Jammu and Kashmir

The Council of Science and Technology Research under the aegis of the Ministry of Science and Technology in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir organized a two-day Lavender Festival at Bhaderwah town in Doda district . The festival has been organized under the Central Government Aroma Mission to promote One Product One District programme . Dr. Jitendra Singh , Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Officeformally inaugurated the Lavender Festival by flying a thousand purple colored balloons. Lavender is an aromatic plant. Later Dr. Singh also inaugurated six Lavender oil extraction plants in different villages of Bhaderwah Valley under Aroma Mission. MoUs were also signed with industrialists from Punjab, Mumbai and Uttarakhand regarding lavender oil.

9.Sangeet Akademi announces Sangeet Kalanidhi Award 2020-22

10.The government limited the export of sugar to 10 million metric tonnes to reduce the prices, special permission required for export from June 1

In order to ensure domestic availability of sugar, the Central Government has decided to limit the export of sugar. Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said that this season the exports from India have reached a record high level and in view of the increase in consumption of sugar during the festive season in October-November, the time has come to ensure its domestic availability. The Food Secretary said that the decision to fix the limit on export of sugar has been taken in view of the possibility of increasing global demand for sugar.

Sarbani Dasgupta wrote the AtharvavedaThe ship was launched by chanting the call of The ship takes its name from the erstwhile Director, an Indian Naval Survey Ship and was decommissioned in December 2014 after 32 years of illustrious service. Of the four SVL ships, three are being partially constructed at L&T at Kattupalli under a collaborative approach between GRSE and L&T Shipbuilding. Earlier on October 30, 2018, a contract for construction of four SVL ships was signed between the Ministry of Defense and Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE). The first class ship ‘ Sandhyak ‘ was launched on 5 December 2021 at GRSE, Kolkata.

13.Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme of Rajasthan

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan recently approved new guidelines for the implementation of ‘ Indira Gandhi Shehri Rozgar Yojana ‘ . It is an urban employment scheme announced by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the state budget of Rajasthan 2022-23. The government will spend Rs 800 crore annually on the implementation of this scheme. Under this scheme, people living in urban areas will be provided employment for at least 100 days per year . It has been prepared on the lines of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) . As per the new guidelines, a person who is in the age group of 18 to 60 years and residing in the local body area will have to apply for Jan Aadhaar Card .will be registered on the basis of Jan Aadhaar card will be issued by the state government and will be the primary eligibility document for enrollment under the scheme. The provision of providing work to migrant laborers from other states only in emergency situations like the COVID-19 pandemic or natural calamities is being questioned by civil society groups. He also raised concerns that it is difficult for people from outside the state to get the eligibility documents provided by the state.

14.Central government to provide additional fertilizer subsidy of Rs 1.10 lakh crore

The Union Finance Minister had recently announced that the government would give an additional fertilizer subsidy of Rs 1.10 lakh crore to the farmers to save them from the increase in the prices of fertilizers.will provide. With the recent announcement, the government’s total fertilizer subsidy will reach Rs 2.15 lakh crore in the current financial year (2022-23). A fertilizer subsidy of Rs 1.05 lakh crore was announced in the budget for 2022-23. Fertilizer subsidy was Rs 1,62,132 crore in 2021-22. The Russo-Ukraine war caused supply chain disruptions and increased global fertilizer prices. India is dependent on imports of urea, potassium and phosphatic fertilisers. The government ensures that urea and 24 grade P&K fertilizers are available to the farmers at subsidized prices. The center fixes the MRP for urea. The difference between MRP and cost of production is reimbursed in the form of subsidy. Whereas, the subsidy on various P&K fertilizers comes under the nutrient-based subsidy (NBS) policy.

15.France’s Total Energies to buy stake in Adani’s hydrogen business

France ‘s oil and gas major, Total Energy , under the newly formed company Adani New Industries Ltd., is expected to acquire a minority stake of 10% or more in the hydrogen business (ANIL) of the Adani Group. The agreement is nearing completion, and an announcement is expected in the coming months. In India, Total previously partnered with Adani in 2018 with investments in Adani Gas Limited, city gas distribution business, associated LNG terminal business and gas marketing business. Total acquired a 37.4 per cent stake in Adani Gas Ltd and a 50 per cent stake in the Dhamra LNG project. Then, Adani and Total also agreed to an alliance in the wider sustainable energy sector. Total and Adani agreed to acquire a 50 percent stake in operating solar assets owned by Adani Gas in a 2.35 GWac portfolio and a 20 percent stake in Adani Green Energy for a global investment of $2.5 billion.

State Bank of India (SBI) has announced the launch of real-time express credit on its YONO platform to enable eligible customers to avail personal loans up to Rs 35 lakh . The bank said that its flagship personal loan product “Express Credit” for salaried customers now has a digital avatar and customers can now avail the same through YONO.

The Delhi government has inducted two robots in the city’s firefighting fleet , which will provide easy access to narrow streets and inaccessible places and assist in the risky task of extinguishing fires. A few days ago, a massive fire broke out in a building in Delhi’s Mundka, killing 27 people. According to the statement, these robots will cover an area of ​​100 meters together. The robots were purchased from an Austrian company . This initiative will help reduce collateral damage and save precious lives. This machine can be operated remotely from a distance of 300 meters. It shall not be affected by fire, smoke, heat, or any other adverse condition. With the help of remote control, it can be sent inside fire-affected areas and it has an army tank-like tracking system, through which these robots can easily climb stairs. It has a 140 horsepower engine.

19.Uttarakhand government and BPCL sign MoU for renewable energy projects

21.RBI constitutes six-member group to examine customer service standards

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) set up a six-member committee to assess and review customer services in regulated firms with the goal of protecting the interests of customers . According to a statement from the banking regulator, the committee will also examine the adequacy of customer service standards and provide recommendations for improving customer service. The six-member committee will also assess the effectiveness of the customer service rules and make recommendations for improvement. Former RBI deputy governor BP Kanungo will head the committee, which will submit its report three months after its first meeting.

23.Veteran communist leader Shivaji Patnaik passes away

Veteran communist leader and three-time MP Shivaji Patnaik passed away at the age of 93. Shivaji Patnaik is lauded as the founder of the CPI (Marxist) in Odisha . Born on 10 August 1930, the veteran leader joined the state’s student movement at the age of 17, while studying at Renshaw College. He was instrumental in the formation of the CPI(M) in 1964, when the Communist Party suffered a split. He was the party secretary from 1971 to 1990. He was also elected to the Central Committee of the party.
