Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at Mauritius ‘ 57th National Day celebrations next month . Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam made this announcement while addressing the Mauritius Parliament. Mr. Ramgoolam said that it would be a privilege for Mauritius to host a distinguished person like Mr. Modi. He also referred to the strong and enduring relations between India and Mauritius. He said that Mr. Modi has agreed to be his special guest. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Mauritius is taking place after his recent visits to Paris and the US. Mauritius celebrates its National Day every year on March 12. Mauritius became independent from Britain in 1968. President Draupadi Murmu attended the Mauritius National Day celebrations as the chief guest last year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi to former Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das . The selection of Mr. Das has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. He is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1980 batch of Tamil Nadu cadre. Mr. Das’s tenure will be effective till further orders.

In February 2025, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) , National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Bengaluru (Karnataka) -based Intel Technology India Private Limited have announced collaboration to launch a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) training initiative called ‘ AI for Entrepreneurship ’. The program is a micro-learning module hosted on Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) under MSDE and aims to impart AI and entrepreneurial skills to 1 lakh young innovators by 2025.

According to the global brand perception study ‘The FutureBrand Index 2024’ , South Korea ‘s Samsung has topped the global rankings, reflecting its strong brand perception and adaptability to market demands. India’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is in second place and has made an impressive jump of 11 places from 13th position in 2023. This is the first time an Indian company has made it to the top three in the list. Reliance, the only Indian brand on the list, is ahead of well-known global brands like Apple (3), Nike (4), ASML (5), Walt Disney, Netflix, Microsoft, Intel and Toyota. Other rankings: Danaher from USA (Rank 6), Disney from USA (7), MOUTAI from China (8), TSMC from Taiwan (9) and IHC from United Arab Emirates (UAE) (10).

The citation honours Ambani for being a compassionate philanthropist and for her dedication to making a transformational impact in education, healthcare, sports, arts, culture and women’s empowerment in India and around the world.
In February 2025, scientists at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) , an autonomous unit of the Department of Space (DOS) , Government of India (GoI) in Ahmedabad , have discovered a new exoplanet, TOI-6038A b . It is classified as a dense sub-Saturn size planet with a mass of 78.5 Earth masses , and a radius of 6.41 Earth radii in a wide binary system. The planet orbits the main F-type star every 5.83 days in a circular orbit . TOI-6038A b lies in the transition region between Neptune-like and gas-giant exoplanets, called “sub-Saturn”, (a category absent in our solar system) which provides a rare opportunity to study the formation and evolution of planets. This is the second exoplanet discovered using the PRL Advanced Radial-velocity All-Sky Search-2 (PARAS-2) spectrograph attached to the 2.5 metre (m) telescope at PRL ‘s Mount Abu Observatory at Gurushikhar , Rajasthan . This is also the 5th exoplanet discovered using the combined efforts of PRL Advanced Radial Velocity Abu Sky Search (PARAS-1) and PARAS-2 spectrographs. This is only the 5th sub-Saturn exoplanet discovered in a binary system.

In athletics , Hangzhou Asian Games bronze medallist Gulveer Singh created history by breaking the 13-minute barrier in the men’s 5000m indoor race , becoming the first Indian to do so. At the BU Terrier DMR Challenge in Boston, Gulveer won the race in an astonishing 12 minutes 59.77 seconds . In doing so, he not only set a new national record for India, but also set a new Asian record for 5000m short track . Last week, Gulveer had set a new national record in the men’s 3000m indoor event, breaking a 16-year-old record. He finished second in 7 minutes 38.26 seconds, breaking the previous Indian record of 7 minutes 49.47 seconds set by Surender Singh in 2008.
