Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss various issues with Maldives President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi will hold talks with  Maldives  President  Dr. Mohamed Muizzu   in  New Delhi on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest. Several agreements are also expected to be signed between the two countries after this. Before the talks, the Maldives President will be given a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He will also visit Rajghat and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He will meet President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Dr. Muizzu will visit Agra and Mumbai and Bengaluru on Wednesday. Dr. Muizzu arrived in New Delhi on a five-day visit to India.

2 UP CM Yogi Adityanath unveiled the logo of Prayagraj Mahakumbh

Uttar Pradesh  Chief Minister  Yogi Adityanath  unveiled   a  multi-coloured new logo  for  Maha Kumbh 2025  in  Prayagraj . This logo represents religious and economic prosperity. This logo  depicts the Amrit Kalash,  the sacred vessel obtained from  the mythical Samudra Manthan . This logo has pictures of  a temple, sage, Kalash, Akshay Vat and Lord Hanuman  . It reflects the combination of nature and humanity in Sanatan civilization. It reflects the continuous flow of self-awareness and public welfare as an inspirational symbol of Maha Kumbh 2025. Kumbh Mela  has been recognized  by UNESCO  as   the intangible cultural heritage of humanity . Kumbh Mela  is considered  to be the largest peaceful gathering of pilgrims in the world . The motto of this fair is Sarvasiddhiprad: Kumbh:.  On this occasion, he also launched a website and app.

3 Indian Navy deployed its first training squadron in Oman

Indian Navy has deployed   its  First Training Squadron (1TS)  to Oman  . Indian ships  Tir, Shardul  and Indian Coast Guard Ship  Veera arrived Muscat  on 05 October on a long distance training deployment   . The training, which will continue till 09 October, marks further strengthening of the existing defence ties between India and Oman in the maritime domain. During this period, the Indian Navy will interact with the Royal Navy of Oman on various aspects of maritime security and interoperability, including port interactions and joint exercises.

4 Indian Air Force conducted a big aerial display in Chennai on its 92nd foundation day

The Indian Air Force held  a big  air display in Chennai  on   its  92nd foundation day  . After almost  21 years,  this display  was held at Marina  which was witnessed by 15 lakh people. It  was also recorded in   the Limca Book of Records . The biggest attraction point of the show was the Harvard T-6G Texan aircraft  used in  the First World War  . The Indian Air Force used Harvard as an intermediate trainer till 1974. The Indian Air Force was officially formed  on 08 October 1932.  Its  first aircraft flight came into existence on  01 April 1933. Its strength was six officers and 19 Hawai Sepoys (literally air warriors) trained by the RAF.

5 ADB extends $162 million loan to support tourism development

The Asian Development Bank (ADB)  has announced on 2 October 2024 that it  has approved a US$162 million  loan  to  Himachal Pradesh to support  tourism development  in the state . The loan has been provided to finance the state government’s Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism Development Project.

6 Italy and Switzerland redraw the Alpine borders

Redrawing the borders   between  Italy and Switzerland is a vital response to the rapid melting of  glaciers   due to  climate change . As global temperatures rise, the glaciers of the Alps  are shrinking, altering the natural water dividing lines that historically defined the borders between these two countries. The agreement was made official by Switzerland on September 27, 2024, and follows the recommendation of a commission created in 2023 to evaluate the effects of climate on glaciers. Italy is also expected to soon approve these changes, which will mainly affect the areas around the Matterhorn.

7 Employment in India increased by 36%: Centre report

India   has witnessed  a remarkable growth in employment in the last few years.  With employment  growing by nearly 36% between 2016-17 and 2022-23  , creating nearly  170 million jobs , India’s economic progress reflects sustained job creation across key sectors. 8 Mumbai won the 15th Irani Cup after 27 years

Tanush Kotian  ‘s unbeaten century helped  Mumbai  win their 15th Irani Cup  on the basis of first innings lead over  Rest of India in a match that  ended in a draw on the fifth and  final day   . Mumbai last won the Irani Cup 27 years ago during the 1997-98 season and since then this domestic cricket powerhouse has reached eight more finals but has never succeeded. Mumbai’s last final was in the 2015-16 season. Mumbai resumed play on the final day at 153 for six and declared their second innings at 329 for eight. Thus, Mumbai’s total lead became 450 runs.

9 Coco Gauff of America won the title of China Open Tennis Tournament

Coco Gauff  of   America  has  won the title of  China Open Tennis Tournament . In the final, Gauff defeated Carolina Muchova   of  Czech Republic 6-1, 6-3. This is Gauff’s second title of the year and eighth overall. Gauff became the youngest China Open champion in 14 years. She  is also the second American player to win the tournament after Serena Williams  . Gauff’s record in final matches has become 8-1.

10 World Cerebral Palsy Day

World Cerebral Palsy Day  is observed on October 6, 2024  to amplify the voices of persons with cerebral palsy (CP). This year’s theme, ‘ #UniquelyCP ‘, celebrates the uniqueness of the cerebral palsy community – their interests, passions and identities – showing that they are not defined by their disability alone. The theme emphasises that every person is special in their own way and society must understand and accept these unique identities.
