1 Railway’s new super app RailOne, how to book unreserved tickets online.

Indian Railways is launching a new super app, RailOne, for booking unreserved tickets, platform passes, and season tickets . It will allow booking all types of tickets. The UTS app will be discontinued by the Railways from March 1st , preventing passengers from booking unreserved tickets, platform passes, and season tickets. Consequently, the Railways has advised passengers to use the RailOne app for all ticket bookings. This app has already been launched by the Railways. RailOne is positioned as an integrated digital platform that integrates multiple functions into a single interface. It aims to simplify travel for millions of passengers across the country. Passengers do not need to create a new account to use the RailOne app. Users can sign up using their existing UTS and IRCTC logins.
2 Israel’s Parliament honored Prime Minister Modi with the ‘Speaker of the Knesset Medal’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the ‘ Speaker’s Medal ‘, the highest honour of the Israeli Parliament ‘Knesset’ , for his outstanding contribution in strengthening the strategic relations between India and Israel . He became the first Indian Prime Minister to be awarded this honour . This is considered the highest honour of the Knesset. After the address, Speaker of the Israeli Parliament Amir Ohana presented this honour to the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Israeli Parliament in Jerusalem during his two-day visit to Israel . With this, he became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Knesset .
3 Prime Minister Modi’s Instagram following surpasses 100 million, becoming the first global leader to achieve this feat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has crossed the landmark 100 million followers on Instagram , becoming the first world leader and politician to achieve this feat on the platform. PM Modi joined Instagram in 2014. His following on Instagram is more than double that of US President Donald Trump. Trump is in second place with 43.2 million followers . In India, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is in second place with approximately 16 million followers on the platform.
4 India and Nepal sign MoU to promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of forest, wildlife, environment, biodiversity conservation and climate change

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Forest and Environment, Government of Nepal to promote bilateral cooperation in the areas of forests, wildlife, environment, biodiversity conservation and climate change , including restoration of wildlife corridors and connecting areas and exchange of knowledge, technical expertise and best practices. The signing ceremony was held in New Delhi in the presence of Shri Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India and Shri Madhav Prasad Choulagain, Minister of Forest and Environment, Government of Nepal.
5 ECI and State Election Commissions hold round table conference

On February 24th , the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the State Election Commissions held a National Roundtable Conference at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi . This roundtable was held after a gap of 27 years . The last such conference was held in 1999. State Election Commissioners from all states and union territories participated in the conference, along with their legal and technical experts. The conference aimed to strengthen cooperation between the National Election Commission and state-level election bodies within their legal frameworks. Participants discussed Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and ways to enhance transparency. The Commission recently launched the ECINET digital platform. Information related to election services and the platform was also shared at the conference.
6 RBI’s hi-tech Tier IV data centre inaugurated in Bhubaneswar

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched a highly secure second data center in Bhubaneswar , Odisha , a step towards enhancing the security and continuity of its critical financial infrastructure . The greenfield facility, located on the 18.55-acre Info Valley-II campus in Khordha, Odisha, will store and run the RBI’s core computer systems that manage cash supply, digital payments between banks, and financial data monitoring . The site has also received Tier IV Design Certification , demonstrating that it meets the highest global standards for reliability, uptime, and operational performance. This data center hosts core applications, databases, and software. The RBI’s primary data center is in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The RBI is also launching a pilot cloud facility with data centers in Mumbai and Hyderabad to provide local cloud storage to financial firms. The high-security data center is strategically located away from potential cross-border threat zones and high seismic-risk areas. This is part of efforts to safeguard critical financial infrastructure and strengthen the continuity of core systems. The greenfield facility in Bhubaneswar is designed to house the core computing systems supporting the central bank’s currency management, payment and settlement operations, and regulatory data functions.
7 IISS Report: ‘Operation Sindoor’ the world’s longest Beyond-Visual-Range (BVR) air-to-air engagement

The International Institute for Strategic Studies, a leading London -based organization on military, political, and security matters, believes that the military standoff between India and Pakistan in May last year , which India dubbed Operation Sindoor , was the world’s longest Beyond-Visual-Range (BVR) air-to-air conflict . BVR refers to aircraft firing rockets or missiles at distant flying objects that are typically invisible to the naked eye. According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies’ (IISS) Military Balance 2026 report, the 87-hour conflict involved highly sophisticated jets striking at extremely high ranges. Prompted by the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India launched air strikes using Rafale and Su-30MKI jets, with the S-400 aircraft shooting down a Pakistani aircraft from a range of 300 km. Indian aircraft struck nine alleged terrorist hideouts or camps in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as Pakistani Punjab.
8 Abhinav Bindra retires from International Olympic Committee

On February 23 , Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra retired from the International Olympic Committee . Abhinav Bindra became a part of this committee in 2018. His term ends in 2026. 48-year-old Bindra had won India’s first individual gold medal in 10-meter shooting at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Abhinav received the Arjuna Award in 2000 and the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in 2002. Abhinav was honored with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2009. In 2024, he was honored with the Olympic Order Award for his participation in the Olympic Movement.
9 PM condoles the passing away of Thiru R. Nallakannu

Freedom fighter and communist movement veteran R. Nallakannu passed away in Chennai on Wednesday (February 25, 2026) . He was 101 years old . He had been ill for some time and was undergoing treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where he breathed his last. Affectionately known as RNK in party circles, he chose to remain with the CPI despite the split in the communist movement in India in 1964 following the Sino-Indian War . He served as the CPI’s Tamil Nadu State Secretary for three terms, beginning in 1992. A dedicated activist and a man of organizational ability, Nallakannu campaigned tirelessly against the sand mafia illegally mining sand from the Thamirabarani River Basin. In 2010, he filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and personally argued the case in the Madras High Court, obtaining an order banning sand mining.
