1.Nagaland government created three new districts

In Maharashtra , the Genepath Diagnostic Center in Pune has succeeded in making a kit that can detect all types of corona virus with the help of a single test . This kit named Kovidelta has also been approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research. With the help of this kit, the first infection of Omicron was confirmed in Pune. Many government and non-government organizations in the country and abroad are considering the use of this kit. A great feature of this kit is that it clearly differentiates Delta and Omicron viruses.

3.In J&K, Delimitation Commission proposes seven assembly seats for scheduled castes and nine for scheduled tribes

The Delimitation Commission has proposed to increase six assembly seats in Jammu division and one assembly seat in Kashmir division . For the first time , it is proposed to allot nine seats for Scheduled Tribes and seven seats for Scheduled Castes in Jammu and Kashmir . Justice retired Ranjana Prasad DesaiUnder the chairmanship of the Commission met all the five Associate Members in New Delhi. These include Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi and Jugal Kishore Sharma. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir were also present in the meeting. The three-member commission was constituted on March 6, 2020, under the Part-5 provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019. It has been constituted for the re-fixation of assembly seats.

4.Trials of Indian Navy’s destroyer Mormugao commenced

Indian Navy test- fired Mormugao , the second state-of-the-art destroyer ship made in the country for the first time. Built by Madgaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, the ship is named after the port city of Goa . Mormugao was built in September 2016 when Manohar Parrikar was the Defense Minister. The Indian Navy plans to duly commission the INS Mormugao in the middle of next year. The Navy had commissioned another vessel of the same class, INS Visakhapatnam, for trials less than a month ago . Last month, the fourth P-75 submarine INS Vela was also inducted into the Navy.

5.GIS based automatic water supply system launched for the people living in the cantonment area on the occasion of Defense Estates Day 2021

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched Geographic Information Systems (GIS) based automatic water supply system for the people living in the cantonment area on the occasion of Defense Estates Day 2021 . The water supply model has been developed by Bhaskar Institute for Space Application and Geopharmaceutical under the guidance of Defense Secretary and Directorate of Estates Delhi . It is fully automatic which helps people to identify the water supply connection and it automatically determines the nearest water pipeline. The GIS system is the first of its kind which supports the concept of Minimum Government and Maximum Governance as there is no manual intervention for approval/sanction of water connections.

6.Election Law Amendment Bill passed in Lok Sabha, the purpose of the bill is to link Aadhaar number with voter list

The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill-2021 , to prevent bogus voting and linking of voter list with Aadhaar number , was passed in the Lok Sabha amid heavy opposition from the opposition . In this, there is a provision to give four opportunities every year to the persons who have completed the age of 18 years to enroll their names in the voter list. In addition, the bill has provisions to make election legislation gender neutral for military voters and to enable the requirement of any premises for election purposes.

7.BCCI’s selection committee announces 17-man Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022

The Board of Control for Cricket in India – BCCI ‘s All India Junior Selection Committee has announced a 17-member Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022 . The 14th edition of the Under-19 World Cup will be held in West Indies from January 14 to February 5, 2022 . This edition will have 16 teams, divided into four groups. Team India has won four titles in 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018 and finished second in 2016 and 2020. Team India was in Group B along with South Africa, Ireland and Uganda. The Indian team will be led by Yash Dhal of Delhi . Earlier, his name was announced as the captain of Team India for the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup.

8.The first consignment of Air Defense System S-400 arrived in India
