1 Silent Hunter-Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft ‘Mahe’ inducted into Navy

The ” Silent Hunter, ” also known as the anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft “Mahe,” was commissioned into the Indian Navy on Monday. This anti-submarine ship symbolizes stealth, vigilance, and unwavering resolve. According to the Navy, “Mahe” has been designed for high-risk missions in coastal areas. Its capabilities make it a powerful and capable shallow-water combatant. The ship is capable of carrying out large and dangerous operations, including anti-submarine warfare. The ship was commissioned into the Navy in the presence of Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi . “Mahe” was built in India by the Cochin Shipyard. This makes “Mahe” a powerful example of self-reliant India in the defense sector. A total of eight anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft ships of this class will be inducted into the Navy , with “Mahe” being the first of these. The crest on this shallow craft depicts the ” Urumi, ” the flexible sword of Kalaripayattu.
2 India and Nepal will begin the 19th Suryakiran military exercise in Uttarakhand on Tuesday.

India and Nepal are scheduled to conduct the 19th edition of the bilateral military exercise Suryakiran from November 25 (Tuesday) to December 8 at Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand . According to the Indian Army, the aim of this exercise with the Nepal Army is to strengthen operational coordination in jungle warfare and counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrain. It also focuses on integration of specialized technologies to enhance interoperability and share best practices, which reflects India and Nepal’s shared commitment to global peace and security. A contingent of 334 soldiers of the Indian Army participated in the 18th edition of the battalion level joint military exercise Suryakiran held at Saljhandi in Nepal from December 31, 2024 to January 13, 2024.
3 Cyclone Senyar to delay severe cold in West Bengal

The name of this likely storm will be ‘Senyar’ , which has been suggested by the United Arab Emirates . This will be the second cyclone to develop in the Bay of Bengal in the post-monsoon season. Earlier, cyclone ‘Montha’ had crossed the Andhra coast near Kakinada on October 28.

India’s economy is expected to grow at a faster pace of 6.5 percent in the current fiscal year on the back of strong domestic demand, recent GST rate cuts and monetary policy easing, a report said on Monday. Data from A &P Global Ratings also estimates India’s growth rate to be 6.7 percent in FY26, with risks to the outlook balanced. The report said that India’s real GDP grew at a robust 7.8 percent in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the fastest pace in five quarters. With this, India’s growth momentum remains strong.

7 Marburg disease outbreak in Ethiopia

The death toll from Marburg disease in Ethiopia has risen to five. The health ministry said the mortality rate has now reached 50 percent. The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said efforts are underway to contain the disease in Ethiopia’s neighboring countries, South Sudan and Kenya. Marburg is a viral disease. Its symptoms include high fever and severe headache. According to the World Health Organization, Marburg virus is a serious disease and its mortality rate is up to 88 percent.

The Punjab government has decided to grant holy city status to three of the five Takhts (pilgrim shrines ). Borphukan’s leadership thwarted the imperialist ambitions of the then Mughal emperor Aurangzeb . For this reason, he is also known as the ” Shivaji of the Northeast .” It is noteworthy that Borphukan was one of the five influential ministers of the Ahom kingdom. This position was created by the Ahom king, Swargadeo Pratap Singh.
