1 South Korea’s Han Kang will receive the Nobel Prize for Literature
The Nobel Prize for Literature 2024 was announced on 10 October . This year this prize will be given to South Korean writer Han Kang . She will be honored for presenting touching stories of life in a beautiful way . Han Kang started her career in 1993 by writing poems. In 1995, she started writing stories. Han Kang is the 18th and first Korean woman to win the Nobel Prize . Earlier in 2016, she also won the Man Booker International Prize for the novel ‘ The Vegetarian ‘ . This novel gave her international recognition.
2 ISRO will conquer the moon in collaboration with Japan, the fifth mission LUPEX got the approval of the Space Commission
ISRO is now preparing for a larger scale mission on the moon . In this direction, ISRO’s ambitious Loopex mission has received the approval of the National Space Commission . ISRO will complete the Lunar Polar Exploration Mission or Loopex with the Japanese Space Agency, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). It is worth noting that this will be ISRO’s fifth moon mission . After the success of Chandrayaan 3, ISRO is now busy preparing for Chandrayaan 4. Meanwhile, the fifth mission has also been approved. Now this mission has to be approved by the Cabinet. After this, the way for the mission will be clear.
The average monthly income of rural households has increased by more than 57 percent from 2016-17 to 2021-22 . According to the All India Survey of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) , the monthly income of rural households has increased from Rs 8,059 in 2016-17 to Rs 12,698 in 2021-22. . The savings of about 66 percent of the families increased by more than fifty percent in 2021-22 as compared to 2016-17. The insurance coverage of rural families has also increased significantly. According to the survey data, this scope has increased from twenty-five and a half percent to eighty percent. Kisan Credit Card played an effective role in expanding the financial inclusion of rural farmers. Pension coverage also improved and it increased from about 19 percent to twenty-three and a half percent. But during this period the ratio of outstanding loans also increased and it increased from 47 percent in the year 2016-17 to 52 percent in 2021-22.

The Centre has declared Hizb-ut-Tahrir and all its organisations as terrorist organisations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act . In a notification, the Home Ministry said that Hizb-ut-Tahrir is allegedly involved in radicalising and motivating youth to join terrorist organisations like ISIS and raising funds for terrorist activities. The aim of the organisation is to establish an Islamic state globally, including India, by overthrowing governments through jihad and terrorist activities.

Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal announced his retirement on 10 October . The Davis Cup finals in November will be the last event of Nadal’s career. Nadal is the second player to win the most Grand Slams in tennis history. He has won a total of 22 Grand Slams . This includes 12 French Open, two Australian Open, two Wimbledon and four US Open titles. Among men, only Novak Djokovic (24) has won more Grand Slams than him.
