9.Center amends Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 to ease compliance burden and ease of doing business for electronic industries
The Department of Consumer Affairs has allowed electronic products under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities), (Second Amendment) Rules 2022 to declare certain mandatory information through QR codes for a period of one year , if they are declared in the package. has not been done. This amendment will allow the industry to declare detailed information digitally through QR codes . This will allow important announcements to be effectively declared on the label in the package while other descriptive information can be passed on to the consumer via QR code. Prior to this, all pre-packaged goods including electronic products are required to declare all mandatory information on the package as per the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities), Rules 2011.
