1 Start-up accelerator Wavex launches a nationwide initiative called “Kala Setu”

In a strategic effort to harness the power of AI for inclusive communication , the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched the “ Kala Setu – Real-time Language Tech for India ” Challenge through its WaveX Startup Accelerator Platform . This nationwide initiative invites the country’s leading AI start-ups to develop indigenous, scalable solutions for automated creation of audio, video and graphic content from text inputs with support for multiple Indian languages . The Challenge focuses on scalable solutions that support three core areas of AI-powered content creation. First, Text-to-Video Generation, which allows automated creation of video content from text with the ability to adapt the environment, tone and subject matter to suit various communication needs. Second, Text-to-Graphics Generation, which enables the creation of data-driven infographics and electric visuals that make abstract information easy to understand and engaging. Third, text-to-audio generation, which uses advanced voice synthesis to create speech that is not only accurate but also emotionally expressive and sensitive to regional accents, enhancing relatability and impact in multilingual contexts.
2 Brazil awarded its highest honor to Prime Minister Modi

Brazil on Tuesday conferred its highest honour , the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross , on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his state visit to the country . With this, the Prime Minister has added another feather to his achievements. This award was the 26th global honour for Prime Minister Modi and the third honour of his five-nation visit that began on July 2. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi on Friday became the first foreign leader to be conferred with the Caribbean country’s highest civilian honour ‘The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’ during his two-day visit to Port of Spain. Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamala Prasad Bissessar praised the Indian Prime Minister, saying that this honour is being given for his global leadership, deep ties with the Indian diaspora and his humanitarian efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. Last Wednesday, just before arriving in Trinidad, Prime Minister Modi was conferred the country’s national honour ‘Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’ by Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama in Accra in recognition of his “distinguished statesmanship and influential global leadership”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Namibia after a successful visit to Brazil.

Various MoUs were exchanged between India and Brazil on Tuesday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva . PM Modi said that our cooperation in the field of energy is constantly growing. Environment and clean energy are major priorities of both countries. The agreement to increase cooperation in this area will give new impetus to our green goals. According to India’s Foreign Ministry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Lula have set an ambitious target of increasing bilateral trade to $ 20 billion in the next five years . Both the leaders decided to establish a permanent mechanism at the ministerial level to monitor the progress of matters related to trade, commerce and investment. Prime Minister Modi also appealed to Brazil for cooperation in expanding the India-Mercosur trade agreement, so that regional economic partnership can get a new boost.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize . Netanyahu met President Donald Trump over dinner at the White House on Monday night and presented him with a letter addressed to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee. During the meeting, Mr Netanyahu also backed President Trump’s controversial proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza and turn the conflict-torn coastal strip into a luxury waterfront development. The visit comes amid growing global criticism of Israel’s military operation in Gaza.
5 Indian Navy signs contract with M/s BEL for implementation of NMDA project

Indian Navy has signed a contract with M/s Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bengaluru for implementation of National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) Project towards strengthening maritime and coastal security . The contract was signed in the presence of VADM Tarun Sobti , Deputy Chief of Naval Staff and Shri Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, M/s BEL . The project will implement an integrated approach for data collection, analysis and information sharing among various maritime stakeholders. The project involves upgrading the existing National Command, Control, Communication and Intelligence (NC3I) network to NMDA network along with AI-enabled software. Under the project, the nodal centre of the existing NC3I network, Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) at Gurugram will also be upgraded to a multi-agency NMDA centre hosting representatives from various national agencies. The project will be implemented on a ‘turnkey basis’ (i.e. something that is ready for immediate use, typically used in the sale or supply of goods or services) and will be administered by the Indian Navy.
6 India, Japan to begin ‘Ja Mata’ coast guard exercise off Chennai coast

The Indian Coast Guard and the Japanese Coast Guard will conduct a joint exercise codenamed Ja Mata (meaning “see you later” in Japanese) off the Chennai coast . The Japan Coast Guard will be represented by its ship Itsukushima, which arrived at Chennai Port on 7 July 2025. The Japanese Coast Guard Ship Itsukushima is on a global ocean voyage training mission during which it is visiting ports of various friendly countries. This visit of the Japanese Coast Guard ship is a part of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2006 between the Indian Coast Guard and the Japanese Coast Guard to strengthen maritime partnership between India and Japan.

Niti Aayog revealed the performance of districts of northeastern states in the second edition of the North Eastern Region (NER) District Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index Report (2023-24) . Niti Aayog released the report on July 7, 2025 in New Delhi. The first edition of the NER District SDG Index Report 2021-22 was released on August 26, 2021. The North Eastern Region (NER) District Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index Report (2023-24) was prepared by Niti Aayog in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India provided technical assistance to Niti Aayog in preparing the report.
8 Bihar Cabinet’s historic decision: 35% reservation for women candidates

In the meeting of Bihar Cabinet held on Tuesday, a total of 43 proposals including the formation of Youth Commission were approved. In this meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a proposal to give 35 percent horizontal reservation to women candidates who are natives of the state in direct appointments to all levels and all types of posts in all government services, cadres of Bihar state was also approved. Under the Chief Minister Divyangjan Empowerment Scheme, male disabled candidates of backward class, economically weaker section and general category will be given incentives of Rs 50 thousand and Rs one lakh respectively for the preparation of main examination and interview on passing the preliminary examination of BPSC and UPSC. For this, a proposal to start Divyangjan Civil Service Incentive Scheme has also been approved. In the meeting, approval was given for the implementation of Millets Program to promote Millets crop in Kharif season under Nutri Cereals (Millets) Scheme under Food and Nutrition Security under the Fourth Agriculture Road Map in the financial year 2025-26 and a total withdrawal and expenditure of Rs 46 crore 75 lakh was approved.

10 Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Agricultural Technology Innovation Center at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agricultural University, Meerut

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Agricultural Technology Innovation Centre and Agritech Startup and Technology Showcase at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Meerut . He said that the government is focusing on making farmers entrepreneurs. He said that the role of Indian Institute of Technology-Ropar has been important in using mechanical intelligence to double the income of farmers and ensure fair prices. Mr. Pradhan also announced that a skill development centre will be set up at the university to promote farmer-centric research and start-ups.
11 Union Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya launched Asmita Weightlifting League

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the 2025 season of Asmita League in Modinagar , Uttar Pradesh . Asmita’s 2025 season began with the Weightlifting League, with 42 girls participating in eight different weight categories in a two-day event held in the open category. 852 leagues have been planned in 15 sports disciplines in the current financial year 2025-26. More than 70,000 women players will participate in these leagues to be held in states and union territories. Last season, 550 leagues were organized in 27 sports disciplines, in which 53,101 women players participated. Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Mirabai Chanu was among the dignitaries present at the inauguration of the Asmita Weightlifting League. ASMITA (Achieving Sporting Achievements by Inspiring Women) is part of Khelo India’s gender-neutral mission to promote sports among women through leagues and competition. Thus, the Sports Authority of India assists the National Sports Federations to conduct Khelo India Women’s Leagues across multiple age groups at both regional and national levels. Launched in 2021 , the ASMITA League aims to not only increase women’s participation in sports but also use the league as a platform to identify new talent across India.

At the Archery World Cup in Spain , India have secured top seeding in both the individual and team events thanks to stellar performances by Rishabh Yadav and Jyothi Surekha Vennam . 22-year-old Rishabh Yadav topped the men’s compound qualifying round with a score of 716 points. Reigning Asian Games champion Jyothi Surekha Vennam also topped the women’s compound event with a score of 715 points.
