1 Startup selected under National Quantum Mission launches one of India’s most powerful quantum computers
Bengaluru -based QPIAI , one of the eight startups selected under the National Quantum Mission coordinated by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), on the occasion of World Quantum Day announced the launch of one of India’s most powerful quantum computers with a capacity of 25 superconducting qubits . The quantum computer, called QPIAI-Indus , has been launched and is the country’s first full-stack quantum computing system . It combines advanced quantum hardware, scalable control, and optimized software for transformative hybrid computing. It integrates advanced quantum processors, next-generation quantum-HPC software platforms, and AI-enhanced quantum solutions.

3 Telangana Government launches Bhu Bharati portal for land records management
The Telangana government has launched the Bhu Bharati portal to make land record management simple, transparent and accessible to the public . The portal was launched by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on April 14, 2025, on the occasion of the 135th birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar . The portal will replace the Dharani portal introduced by the previous BRS government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao . The Dharani portal was introduced by the previous BRS government on November 2, 2020 as an integrated platform for agricultural land registration and mutation . The Bhu Bharati portal was launched by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at Shilpa Kala Vedika in Hyderabad. The state government has initially launched the Bhu Bharati portal as a pilot project in four mandals – Khammam, Mulugu, Kodangal and Kamareddy. According to the Chief Minister, the Mandal Revenue Officer will visit each revenue village in these mandals to resolve land-related issues by May 1, 2025. The state government intends to launch the Bhu Bharati portal across the state by June 2, 2025, the occasion of Telangana Foundation Day.

5 Garden Festival at President’s Residence Mashobra
A six-day garden festival is starting from Tuesday at the historic Presidential residence Mashobra in Mashobra , adjacent to Himachal Pradesh ‘s capital Shimla . This festival will be open for nature lovers and tourists from all over the country from 10 am to 6 pm every day till April 20. The special thing is that during this time, entry to the Presidential residence will be completely free for the general public. Sanju Dogra, manager of the Presidential residence, said that this time a beautiful exhibition of more than 35 varieties of colorful flowers has been set up in the garden festival.
6 India finish fourth in Archery World Cup 2025 Stage 1 held at Auburndale
Indian archers finished their campaign with four medals – one gold, one silver and two bronze – in the first stage of the Archery World Cup 2025. India finished fourth in the medal tally behind Mexico, China and the USA . The first stage of the 2025 Archery World Cup was held in Auburndale, Florida, United States from 8-13 April 2025. The pair of Rishabh Yadav and Jyothi Surekha Vennam won the only gold medal for India in the compound mixed team event . They defeated the pair of I-Jou Huang and Chieh-Lun Chen of Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) in the final. On the final day of the competition, the Indian men’s recurve team of Dheeraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai and Atanu Das lost to the Chinese team of Wang Yan, Li Zhongyuan and Cao Wenchao and had to settle for the silver medal . Dheeraj Bommadevara won the bronze medal in the men’s recurve event by defeating Spain’s Andres Tamino 6-4. Rishabh Yadav, Abhishek Verma and Ojas Deotale won the bronze medal in the men’s compound event .
7 Norway’s Magnus Carlsen wins Freestyle Chess Grand Slam 2025 title in Paris
World number one chess player Magnus Carlsen of Norway won the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam 2025 title in Paris , France . He defeated American Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura . Carlsen got two lakh US dollars and Nakamura got one lakh forty thousand US dollars. Apart from this, Italian-American Fabiano Caruana won one lakh US dollars by defeating German Grandmaster Vincent Keymer in the match for the third place. Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi defeated Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France and secured fifth place with a prize of 50 thousand US dollars. Arjun will play in the Grenke Freestyle Chess Open from April 17.

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been selected as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for his brilliant batting during the Champions Trophy 2025. Iyer scored a total of 172 runs in the last three matches at an average of 57.33. He was the second highest run scorer of the tournament. He scored a total of 243 runs at an average of 48.60. 10 Los Angeles Olympics to host cricket event as temporary venue at Pomona Fairgrounds
Cricket will be played as a temporary event at a specially built venue at the Pomona Fairgrounds in Los Angeles in 2028. The Olympic Organizing Committee announced this yesterday. Pomona is located in Southern California, 50 km from Los Angeles. The tournament will be played in T-20 format with six teams in both men’s and women’s competitions. The sport, which is making a comeback in the Olympics after more than a century, was last played in Paris in 1900. The Los Angeles Olympic Games will be held from 14 to 30 July in 2028.
11 Shooting: India’s Suruchi Singh wins gold, Manu Bhaker wins silver on first day of ISSF World Cup campaign in Peru
India made a great start on the first day of the ISSF World Cup campaign held in Lima , winning gold, silver and bronze medals in shooting. In the women’s 10 meter air pistol event, young sensation Suruchi Singh won the gold medal by defeating Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker by 1.3 points . 18-year-old Suruchi won two consecutive World Cup titles with a brilliant score of 243.6 in the final. At the same time, Saurabh Chaudhary made a strong comeback in the competition by winning the bronze medal in the men’s 10 meter air pistol event . This is his first individual ISSF medal in two years.

Renowned Hindi writer and critic Nirmala Jain has passed away. She was 93 years old. She gained immense fame for her memorable works like ‘ Delhi Shahar Dar Shahar ‘ (memoir) and ‘ Zamaane Mein Hum ‘ (autobiography). She has been awarded the ‘ Soviet Land Nehru Award ‘, ‘ Ramchandra Shukla Award ‘ along with the ‘ Sahityakar Samman ‘ of the Hindi Academy.
