1.Prime Minister’s Award for the year 2018 for exceptional contribution in Yoga promotion and development  :-

The Prime Minister’s award will be given to Mr. Bhavish Mandalak and Yoga Institute of Nashik, Mumbai for exceptional contribution in the promotion and development of Yoga for the year 2018. This selection was made out of 186 nominations received in different categories.

On 21 June 2016, on the occasion of Second International Yoga Day held in Chandigarh, the Honorable Prime Minister had announced the formation of awards for the promotion and development of yoga. The AYUSH Ministry has developed guidelines for the awards. Committees adopting a transparent process in awarding prizes – Screening Committee (for initial evaluation) and Evaluation Committee (Jury) – were created. Nominations were invited for the award through open advertisement.

 

2.For displaying fast pace in the implementation of projects under ‘India Smart City Award’ 2018, Surat Smart City was selected for ‘City Award’ :-

Three categories namely Project Award, Innovative Ideation Award and City Award, 9 Awards have been announced under the India Smart City Award , which was started by the Hon’ble Housing and Urban Affairs Minister on June 25, 2017.

Surat Smart City has  been selected for City Award for the execution of projects, especially in urban environment, transportation and desiability and for sustainable consolidated development of projects in the implementation of projects .

 

3.Shillong (Meghalaya) selected as the 100th Smart City :-

Shillong, capital of Meghalaya, has been selected as 100th Smart City. This city has been selected only after estimating the proposal submitted by Shillong. So far 99 smart cities were selected in four rounds of related competition and today’s announcement has completed the process of selecting 100 smart cities under smart city mission. Before this, 20 cities in January 2016, 13 cities in May 2016, 27 cities in September 2016, 30 cities in June 2017 and 9 cities in January 2018 were selected. With the selection of Shillong, the total proposed investment in the 100 selected smart cities under smart city mission has reached level of Rs 2,05,018 crore.

 

4.Teachers of government schools will now be able to apply directly for the National Teacher Award: Shri Prakash Javadekar   :-

Teachers of government schools can now send their exhibitions directly to the teachers’ national award. Announcing this by Union Human Resource Development Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar, this is a new initiative. Before that the selection of the publicists was done by the state government. He said that teachers of government schools can apply for a national award of teachers themselves. In this new system, the heads of government teachers / schools can enroll themselves on an online basis. Three teachers will be selected from each district. Similarly, 6 teachers from each state will be selected. An independent jury at the national level will make selection of 50 extraordinary teachers / heads of schools for the National Award. Teachers can also upload videos of their work.

 

5.In the second special refund fortnight, a total GST of Rs 41548 crore was refunded till June 16, 2018, IGST refund of 6087 crores was approved :-

As per the commitment made by the government to settle all pending GST refunds till April 30, 2018, the Central Board of Direct Taxes and the Customs Board (CBIC) have successfully completed the second special refund fortnight, which is extended after 31 May 2018 From June 16, 2018, it was decided.

In the refund fortnight, the IGST refund of 6087 crores has been approved till June 16, 2018. Interesting facts of the second fortnight are: (i) Processing of approximately 1,68,191 shipping bills has been done, (ii) IGST refund claims of nearly 9293 exporters have been approved. Almost even 3500 new exporters, including refunds, were stuck.

 

6.Indian Embassy in Nepal ready for organizing the fourth International Yoga Day :-

Several programs will be organized in Nepal on the fourth International Yoga Day. On Tuesday, a yoga camp was organized by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. The program started with the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Various organizational institutions, friendship organizations, film personalities, school children and officials participated in the camp.

 

7.Governor ruled in Jammu and Kashmir :-

President Ramnath Kovind has approved the establishment of Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, Governor N.N. Vohra sent a report to the President for implementing Governor’s rule in the state under section 92 of the Constitution. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti resigned on Tuesday after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s separation from the coalition government. Mr. Vohra also consulted the BJP, PDP, National Conference and Congress. Earlier, the BJP broke the alliance with PDP by saying that it was impossible to stay in the government in the wake of increasing fundamentalism and terrorism in the state.

 

8.HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar inaugurated National Digital Library :-

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar launched the country’s National Digital Library on Tuesday. On this occasion, Shri Javdekar said that to fulfill all the requirements of education, this library will be a single window platform. People can register for the National Digital Library through the Google Play Store for free. These libraries will be available on the ndp.iitkgp.ac.in website.

 

9.Britain will honor the first world war Sikh soldiers, 10 feet high statue :-

In order to pay tribute to thousands of Sikhs killed in World War I, a 10-foot tall bronze statue of a Sikh soldier will be found in Britain. In November it will be set up in the West Midland. To keep the statue, the base of granite six feet high will be made. In this, the sacrifice of Sikhs will be recorded in the war.
Lions of Great War Monument in Smethwick will be honored by the soldiers of South Asia, who fought for Britain in the First World War. The gurudwara Gurudwara of Smethwick is raising the figure of a Sikh soldier for a rifle hand.

 

10.Baba Ramdev and Vasundhara Raje to create world record, 2 lakh people will be together today :-

On Yoga Day, on Thursday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev will do yoga with 2 lakh people. World Yoga Day is going to be a world record in Kota. For this, the Guinness Book of World Records team has reached Kota.

Yoga camps to be held in RAC Ground in Kota will include coaching centers and one lakh students of schools, army personnel and one lakh others. Along with the quota, people from Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran districts have also been called.
