1.PM to launch two innovative consumer centric initiatives of Reserve Bank of India on November 12

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two innovative customer centric initiatives of the Reserve Bank of India through video conference . These initiatives are RBI Retail Direct Scheme and Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das will also attend the event. The objective of the RBI Retail Direct Scheme is to increase access to the government securities market for retail investors. It provides them an opportunity to invest directly in securities issued by the Central and State Governments. Investors will be able to easily open their Government Securities Account with RBI online for free. The Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme aims to further improve the grievance redressal mechanism for redressal of customer complaints regarding entities regulated by the Reserve Bank. This scheme for registering customer complaints is based on One Nation-One Ombudsman with one portal, one email and one address. All relevant information regarding grievance redressal and assistance in lodging complaints can be found on the multilingual toll-free number.

2.Climate Change Performance Index: India Ranks 10th

Along with COP26 , India has been ranked 10th in the Global Climate Change Performance Index ( CCPI ) 2022 released by Germanwatch . In 2020 also India was ranked 10th. India has retained its position as the top 10 best performing countries with high climate performance for the third year in a row. Meanwhile, the top three spots in the overall rankings are once again vacant as none of the countries has performed well enough to earn a very high rating in the CCPI as a whole. Moving on, Denmarkoccupied the fourth position as the highest ranked country in the CCPI 2022, followed by Sweden (5th), and Norway (6th) respectively. Other countries in the top 10 are the United Kingdom (7th), Morocco (8th) and Chile (9th).

3.India Post Payment Bank and Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company announce significant partnership

4.30 thousand volunteers will be trained to be the first to act in road accidents in Odisha

The Odisha government has launched a road safety initiative – Rakshak . In this first of its kind state-level programme, 30,000 volunteers living or working in eateries and various commercial establishments located near accident prone locations will be first trained for action. They will be trained in first aid and pre-hospital trauma care to road accident victims. Under the programme, three hundred master trainers in all 30 districts will train local people to help the victims of road accidents. Every year, when around 1.5 lakh people die in road accidents across the country, in Odisha every year more than five thousand people lose their lives in such accidents.

5.51st Conference of Governors and Lieutenant Governors

The 51st Conference of Governors and Lieutenant Governors began at Rashtrapati Bhavan . Vice President M. 6.Top security chiefs resolve not to allow Afghanistan to become a haven for terrorism at Delhi Regional Security Dialogue

The Delhi Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan concluded in New Delhi . Top security chiefs of India, Russia, Iran and five Central Asian countries pledged not to allow Afghanistan to become a haven for terrorism. Joint Delhi Declaration was issued with the concurrence of all National Security Advisors. All participants agreed to continue this process of deliberation. All participants expressed similar views on the situation in Afghanistan and the major challenges. There the discussions mainly took place on the increasing risk of terrorism and the humanitarian crisis. National security advisers stressed the need for removing barriers to the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

7.India launches ‘e-Amrit’ portal on Electric Vehicles (EVs) in ‘Cop26’

India by British Glasgow released coop 26 summit in electric vehicles (EV) and a web portal ‘ e-Nectar launched. ‘E-Amrit’ is a one-stop destination for all information related to Electric Vehicles where all myths or misconceptions about Electric Vehicles (EV) adoption, purchase, investment opportunities, policies, subsidies, etc. have been completely removed. The portal has been developed and hosted by NITI Aayog under a collaborative knowledge exchange program with the British Government. Not only this, this portal is part of the UK-India Joint Roadmap 2030 which has been signed by the Prime Ministers of both these countries.

8.Civil Aviation Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia launched GCA (e-Governance in Directorate General of Civil Aviation)

The country is celebrating ‘ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘ to commemorate 75 years of independence . On the occasion, Minister for Civil Aviation , Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said DGCA (DGCA) in e-governance platform , Ijisia dedicated to the nation. The objective of this project is to automate the processes and functions of DGCA, in which 99 services are being covered in the initial stages, which is about 70 per cent of the functions of DGCA. 198 services will be covered in other phases.

9.The United States becomes the 101st member of the International Solar Alliance

In order to accelerate the adoption of solar energy around the world , the US also joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA) as a member country . The announcement was made by John Kerry , the US President’s special envoy to the UNFCCC COP26 climate conference . The US has become the 101st country to sign an ISA framework agreement to accelerate the global energy transition through a solar-powered approach . International Solar Alliance (ISA) announced the launch of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and France ‘s former president HE Mr. Francois Hollande said France Paris inIt was held on 30 November 2015 at the 21st session of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP-21) . Former UN Secretary  General Ban Ki-moon attended the launch along with the heads of around 120 countries who pledged their participation in efforts to promote solar energy.

10.17 scientists selected for Swarna Jayanti Fellowship

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has invited 17 scientists for the Swarna Jayanti Fellowship .has selected. These scientists have been awarded for their innovative research, ideas and ability to make an impact on R&D in various disciplines. The Swarna Jayanti Fellowship Scheme was established by the Government of India to commemorate the 50th year of India’s independence (1997). It provides specialized support to selected young scientists with a proven track record to pursue basic research in frontier areas of science and technology. The award consists of a research grant of Rs 5 lakh per annum by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) for a period of 5 years along with a salary of Rs 25000 per month from the parent institute. Equipment, computational facilities, consumables, contingencies, national and international travel and other special requirements, if any, other than fellowship Grants are covered on merit basis. This fellowship is selectively institute-specific rather than scientific-specific and is under academic supervision.

Recently a layer of foam was seen floating on some parts of Yamuna river which has now become a frequent occurrence in Delhi. Earlier , Delhi’s water supply was being disrupted repeatedly due to high levels of ammonia in the Yamuna . The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has banned the sale, storage and transportation of soaps and detergents not manufactured as per the quality standards prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) . Yamuna Monitoring Committee appointed by National Green Tribunal (NGT)The fifth report of the BIS states that the BIS standards for detergents have been improved, but it is not clear whether these standards will actually apply. The Yamuna, a major tributary of the Ganges River, originates from the Yamunotri Glacier near Bandarpoonch Peaks in the Mussoorie Range of the Lower Himalayas at an altitude of 6387 meters above sea level in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Basin: It flows through Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi and joins the Ganges at Sangam (where Kumbh Mela is held) in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
