1. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha.

Dr. Jitendra Singh,  Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministries of Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy and Department of Space, introduced  the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026  in  the Lok Sabha  . This amendment bill aims to  further strengthen the provisions of  the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.  It provides for speedy investigation, speedy trial through special fast-track courts , appointment of special public prosecutors, timely disposal of appeals, and more stringent penal provisions to effectively prevent unfair means and organized malpractices in public examinations. The bill proposes to increase the punishment for those using unfair means. The  minimum jail term is  increased from the current provision of three years, which may extend to five years,  to a minimum of five years, which  may extend to ten years.  The maximum fine  is also proposed to be increased from ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh .  For service providers found involved in offenses under the Act , the Bill proposes  to increase the maximum fine from ₹1 crore to ₹5 crore and the period of their ban  from conducting any public examination  from four years to eight years. The Bill  also proposes stringent punishment for managerial personnel of service providers, with  a minimum  jail  term of five years and a maximum of ten years,  and a maximum  fine of ₹1 crore to ₹5 crore .  To better combat  organized examination-related crimes,  the Amendment Bill proposes to  increase the minimum jail term from five years to seven years , which  may extend to ten years  , and  the maximum fine from ₹1 crore to ₹10 crore  . The Bill also empowers the Central Government to assign the investigation of offenses under the Act to a Special Task Force constituted for this purpose.

2 Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh launched Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme, Samarth Portal and released Model OSR Rules to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions in India

 

 Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh ,  also known  as Lallan Singh  , Minister of Panchayati Raj and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying,  launched  the Atmanirbhar Panchayat Program ,  the Samarth Panchayat Portal , and  released the Model  Own Source of Revenue (OSR) Rules for Panchayati Raj Institutions  at a function  held at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi. On this occasion, the Union Minister was  also presented with a trophy and certificate for the Ministry’s Gold Award under  the National e-Governance Awards (NAEG) 2026 for Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) – Data-Driven Governance for an Advanced India. The Atmanirbhar Panchayat Program  is a unique initiative of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj that  enables Gram Panchayats and Block Panchayats to identify local resources and opportunities  and develop them with the Ministry’s dedicated technical support. It aims   to channel these resources into creditworthy, revenue-generating projects that create  sustainable operating costs (OSR) . The Samarth Panchayat Portal  is the first-of-its-kind digital initiative of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj,   designed to strengthen the financial capacity of Gram Panchayats through technology-based OSR management . Developed as an integrated, configurable national platform, SAMARTH enables Gram Panchayats to digitally manage the entire OSR lifecycle, from taxpayer registration and demand generation to online payment, collection and real-time monitoring. Four Panchayati Raj-related initiatives, including the Panchayat Advancement Index,  were awarded the National Awards for e-Governance 2026, comprising three Gold and one Silver awards, at the 29th National Conference on e-Governance  held  in Jaipur from July 1-2, 2026,  reflecting the Panchayati Raj sector’s growing leadership in data-driven, grassroots digital governance.

3 Rupmani Gadh becomes the first woman from Assam to scale Mount Everest

Rupmani Gadh  has  become  the first woman from Assam  to conquer Mount Everest  . Assam Chief Minister  He Manta Biswa Sarma  felicitated her for this feat and promised her a job in the Assam Police. Rupmani Gadh, the first woman from Assam to climb Mount Everest, and ITBP Assistant Commandant Bhanita Timungpi, who led the successful all-women Mount Everest expedition, were felicitated at the Lok Seva Bhawan. The CM also presented Rs 10 lakh to Rupmani Gadh and Rs 2 lakh to Bhanita Timungpi for their outstanding achievements.

4. To accelerate ‘Make in India’, Dreamfly will set up the country’s largest aviation battery plant.

Indian deep-tech company Dreamfly Innovations  on Monday  announced the establishment of  a state-of-the-art  aviation battery manufacturing plant  in North Bengaluru ,  spanning 40,000 square feet  . The company says the project will strengthen India’s drone industry and further the goals of “Make in India,” “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” and “Vikas Bharat.” According to the company, the plant  will have an initial annual production capacity of 100 megawatt-hours (MWh)  , with the  potential to expand to 200 MWh in the future . It will be one of India’s largest aviation battery manufacturing facilities for the drone sector. The plant will produce advanced batteries for drones used in defense, surveillance, infrastructure inspection, drone spraying in agriculture, logistics, and future air taxis.

5 Cyber ​​Financial Fraud E-Zero FIR Service Launched

 On  July 27th , the Gujarat government  launched   a new service to combat cybercrime . This service is called ” Cyber ​​Financial Fraud e-Zero FIR .” Victims of cyber fraud will be able to file their complaints online from the comfort of their homes. Victims will no longer need to visit the police station. Upon receiving a complaint, the police will immediately initiate action to freeze the defrauded amount. This step has been taken to curb the rise in cybercrimes and digital payment fraud. The state police have also launched a dedicated portal and helpline. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Singhvi launched the service .

6 Zen Technologies introduces India’s first high-altitude anti-drone system

 

On  July 26th , Zen Technologies  unveiled   India  ‘s first indigenous high-altitude anti-drone system . It is man-portable  , meaning soldiers can easily carry it into the mountains. It   incorporates  radio frequency detectiondata fusion, and omni-directional jamming technologies. It has the capability to detect drones up to 5 km  . It is specifically designed for deployment in high-altitude areas like the Himalayas. The system is capable of jamming and shooting down enemy small drones. Zen Technologies developed it in collaboration with the DRDO. Plans are also underway to export it in the future. This is a major achievement in the defense sector under the ‘Make in India’ campaign.

7 India’s first ‘Integrated Oil Palm Complex’ inaugurated in Telangana

On July 27, 2026  ,  Godrej Agrovet  inaugurated  India  ‘s first integrated oil palm complex  in  Telangana . The complex  , located   in Khammam district , has a total investment of ₹300 crore (approximately $3 billion  ). It  includes a palm oil extraction unit, a refinery, and a modern nursery  . The mill’s initial capacity is 30 tons per hour and can be expanded to 60 tons per hour. Its goal is to reduce India’s dependence on edible oil imports. This plant will provide local farmers with better prices and access to technology for their produce. Cultivating oil palm can prove to be more profitable for farmers than traditional crops. This project is a step towards achieving the goal of “Atmanirbhar Bharat.” The complex was built with the aim of rapidly increasing domestic palm oil production and saving foreign exchange. Oil palm farmers will have access to seed, technical advice, processing, and marketing services all under one roof.

Indian astronomers discover rare blue straggler stars in the process of formation

 

Indian astronomers , along with   their  international collaborators  , have discovered a rare blue straggler star – a BSS –  in the process of formation . This provides direct evidence of the process of star formation. BSSs are a special class of stars found in star clusters that appear hotter, brighter, and more massive than their counterparts. The Ministry of Science and Technology stated that astronomers have long been trying to understand their origin and evolution. The accepted explanation is that these stars gain mass from a companion star or through stellar mergers, effectively reviving them. Direct observational evidence of such formation processes is extremely rare, the ministry said.

Ministry of Tourism signs MoU with Air India

The Ministry of Tourism  has   signed a Memorandum of Understanding with  Air India . The objective is to promote India as a preferred global tourist destination  under  the prestigious Incredible India brand  . The MoU was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Tourism and Culture Minister  Gajendra Singh Shekhawat  . The collaboration aims to enhance India’s global tourism potential by leveraging Air India’s extensive domestic and international network as well as the Ministry’s destination promotion initiatives. Under the MoU, the Ministry and Air India will conduct joint promotional campaigns, co-branded destination marketing and tourism storytelling on digital and offline platforms.

10 The country is making systematic efforts to combat hepatitis

India   is making systematic efforts to address hepatitis .  The National Viral Hepatitis Control Program aims to eliminate this disease as a public health threat by 2030.  The program adopts a health systems approach and integrates with various national health initiatives to prevent infection and provide free diagnosis and treatment to affected individuals.  Hepatitis  is  an inflammation of the liver caused by hepatitis viruses , other infections, toxins such as alcohol and drugs, as well as  autoimmune diseases—  in which the body’s immune system attacks healthy parts of the body. The five main hepatitis viruses are  A, B, C, D, and E  , with hepatitis  B and C being common causes of cirrhosis and liver cancer  . The government launched the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program in 2018 to provide screening and treatment services in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

11th Commonwealth Games: Sharmila Dhankar wins India’s second gold medal in the women’s shot put F-57 event

At the Commonwealth Games  , India’s  Sharmila Dhankar won the country’s  second gold medal  by winning the women’s shot put F57 final   in Glasgow  . With this victory,  India’s  medal tally  reached 10 at the end of  the fifth day ,  including  two gold, five silver, and three bronze . With her best performance of  9.81 meters  , Sharmila made history by becoming India’s first Commonwealth Games gold medalist in para-athletics.  The F57 category  is for athletes with lower limb disabilities, physical disabilities, or reduced muscle power. In the same event,  Shilpa’s Shyla  was  awarded a bronze medal  , further increasing India’s medal tally.  Valluri Ajay Babu  also  performed brilliantly, winning the silver medal in the men’s weightlifting 79 kg category  . The 21-year-old set Games records with 149 kg in the snatch and 181 kg in the clean and jerk,   lifting a total of 330 kg . He finished just one kilogram behind Malaysia’s Ari Hidayat Muhammad, who won the gold medal with a total of 331 kilograms. This was India’s sixth medal in weightlifting at the Games. In athletics,  Sarvesh Anil Kushare  won   another  silver medal  by finishing second in the men’s high jump .

12 Commonwealth Games 2026: Raja Muthupandi and Rishikant win silver medals

India’s young weightlifter Raja Muthupandi  produced  a stellar performance to   win  the silver medal in  the men’s 65kg weightlifting event   at the 2026 Commonwealth Games .  Rishikant  of Manipur secured the silver medal in the men’s 60kg weightlifting event  with  a total lift of 264kg  . Bin Kasdan Mohamed Anik of Malaysia won the gold with a total lift of 273kg, while Kenya’s Joshua Amunga Mboya (260kg) finished third on the podium.

13 Commonwealth Games: Indian weightlifter Gyaneshwari Yadav wins silver medal in women’s 53 kg category

Indian weightlifter Gyaneshwari Yadav  won  the silver medal in the women’s 53 kg category  at  the Commonwealth Games  in   Glasgow  . Gyaneshwari, a bronze medallist at the Asian Championships, lifted 88 kg in the snatch and 111 kg in the clean and jerk  to achieve a total  of 199 kg. Nigeria’s Onome Omolola Didih won the gold medal with a Commonwealth Games record lift of 206 kg. Another Indian weightlifter,  Bindyarani Devi  ,  won the bronze medal in the women’s 58 kg category  by lifting 87 kg in the snatch and 112 kg in the clean and jerk  to achieve a total  lift of  199 kg  . Nigeria’s Rafiyatu Folashade won the gold medal with a Games record total lift of 229 kg, while Canada’s Anne-Sophie Tashereau won the silver medal with a total lift of 215 kg.

14 The 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship begins in New Delhi.

The 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships 2026  commenced   in  New Delhi  on  July 27, 2026. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta  inaugurated the competition. This  is the 22nd edition  of the championship . The competition   is being held at  the Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi from July 27 to August 2, 2026. Players from approximately 25 Commonwealth countries  are participating. Team India will present a strong claim in both the men’s and women’s categories. The men’s team includes experienced players G. Sathiyan, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, and Payas Jain. The women’s team will be led by Shreeja Akula, who will be joined by Yashaswini Ghorpade, Swastika Ghosh, Sutirtha Mukherjee, and Cinderella Das. Previously, this competition has been held in India in Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Jaipur, Surat, and Cuttack. The main events included in the competition are men’s team, women’s team, men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

15 Shooter Esha Singh wins gold at  ISSF World Cup

India’s rising  shooter Esha Singh  on Monday   won  the gold medal in  the women’s 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Cup (Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun)  beating  Olympic medallist compatriot  Manu Bhaker. Manu  won the bronze medal, giving India two medals in the event. The 21-year-old Esha produced a brilliant performance in the final, shooting 40 to win the gold medal, while Manu, who won two bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, won the bronze medal after winning the shoot-off. She scored a total of 28 points.

16 Indian racer Aditya Patnaik won his first international car racing title in Malaysia

India’s  Aditya Patnaik  has  won his  first international car racing title by winning the Sporting Class   in the third round of  the Gold Vios Championship Malaysia  at  the Sepang International Circuit  . The 21-year-old from Mumbai finished third in Race 1 and then topped the podium with a thrilling victory in Race 2. He also received a prize of 15,000 Malaysian Ringgit. This win is a major achievement for Aditya in his first year of international car racing. Earlier, he had been the sub-national champion in the Polo Cup India for two consecutive years.
