1 Vidarbha cricket team won the Ranji Trophy for the third time

Vidarbha cricket team  has   won  Ranji Trophy for the third time . Vidarbha won on the basis of first innings lead over Kerala  on the fifth and final day of the match in  Nagpur today  . Vidarbha had scored 379 runs in the first innings. But Kerala’s team could score only 342 runs. In this way, Vidarbha had gained a lead of 37 runs in the first innings. By the end of the last day’s play in the second innings, Vidarbha had scored 375 runs for nine wickets in the second innings.

2 US President Donald Trump signed an executive order declaring English as the official language of his country

US President Donald Trump  has   signed an executive order  declaring English as the official language of his country . The order reverses former President Bill Clinton  ‘s order that required federal agencies and federal funding recipients to provide assistance to non-English speakers. Under the new directive, agencies will retain some flexibility in determining the level of support to be provided in languages ​​other than English.

3 Rajasthan launches SSBY, providing accident insurance cover of Rs 1.3 lakh to school students

In February 2025,  Rajasthan  ‘s Education and Panchayati Raj Minister  Madan Dilawar launched  ‘ Shiksha Sanjivani Bima Yojana (SSBY) ‘  during a special event held at Residency Girls Higher Secondary School  in  Udaipur ,  Rajasthan  . It is the first of its kind scheme that aims to provide personal accident insurance coverage of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.30 lakh  to students in government schools . Initially, the scheme  will cover schools in the Udaipur division of Rajasthan. The scheme will also provide insurance coverage in case of  accidental death of the student’s  parents  . Wonder Cement Zurich Kotak General Insurance  and  State Bank of India (SBI)  are the partners of the Shiksha Sanjivani Bima Yojana. The state government plans to expand the scheme, which is estimated to benefit 1 crore school children across the state.

4 AISEF organised International Spices Conference 2025 in Bengaluru, Karnataka

Ernakulam (Kerala)  -based  All India Spices Exporters Forum (AISEF)  organised  the International Spices Conference (ISC) 2025  ,  held from February 24  to  February 27, 2025 at The Leela Indian City, Bengaluru, Karnataka  . The aim of the conference was to lead the conversation on building a resilient and responsible future for the spices sector.
The theme of ISC 2025 : ‘Building Trust Beyond Borders: Transparency, Sustainability, Convention’.
The conference was inaugurated  by Krishna M. Ella, Executive Chairman,  Bharat Biotech International Limited   .

5 BOB launches merchant loyalty/cashback program to promote CBDC

 

On February 27, 2025,  Vadodara (Gujarat)  based  Bank of Baroda (BOB) has launched  “ Bob Merchant App ”  for its customers launched a pilot for a “ Merchant Loyalty/Cashback Program a programmable Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)  ”. The project was set up under the guidance of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which allows small and medium-sized merchants to design and operate independent loyalty programs.

6 Japan and India renew US$75 billion bilateral swap arrangement

On February 28, 2025,  Japan and India  renewed   their Second Amendment and Restructuring Agreement of  the Bilateral Swap Arrangement (BSA) ,  retaining the agreement for up to  USD 75 billion . The agreement was signed by the Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  and  the Tokyo  (Japan)-based  Bank of Japan (BoJ)  , acting as agent of the Ministry of Finance of Japan. The arrangement aims to deepen financial cooperation between Japan and India, complementing other global and regional financial safety nets.

7 India’s first World Peace Centre inaugurated in Gurugram

A new chapter is going to be added in the spiritual and social field of India.  The country’s first World Peace Center  will be inaugurated in Sector 39 of  Gurugram  on Sunday  . This center  is being established under   the leadership of  Jain Acharya Lokesh Muni and the efforts of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti . Former President of India Ram Nath Kovind  will be the chief guest on this occasion. Apart from this, Punjab Governor  Gulab Chand Kataria,  Bihar Governor  Arif Mohammad Khan , Haryana Chief Minister  Naib Singh Saini  and Delhi Chief Minister  Rekha Gupta  will also attend the ceremony. To make this occasion more special, ” Virat Sant Sammelan ” is being organized, where famous spiritual gurus of India will share their views. These include Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar, Patanjali Yogapeeth founder Yogrishi Swami Ramdev, famous Ram Katha Vachak Morari Bapu, Swami Avdheshanand and Sadhvi Ritambhara. All of them will give the message of peace, non-violence and social harmony.

8 Cochin Queens won overall championship in the first Asmita Yachting League in Hyderabad

 

Cochin Queens  have   won  the overall championship  in  the first Asmita Rowing League  in  Hyderabad . The Kerala team  won six gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Host  Hyderabad Queens  finished second by winning four gold and one bronze medal. Eight teams were in the race for the title in 20 events in the Under 19 and Under 23 categories. Cochin Queens won four out of five events in the Under 23 category. Hyderabad Queens won the Under 19 title and three out of five events. This was the first rowing league in the country in which teams were named after cities. Other teams included Chennai Queens, Deccan Queen, Pune, Bhopal Waves Queen, Cuttack Rowing, Ludhiana Team Rowing and Kolkata R Oars.

9 Bengaluru Open Tennis: Anirudh Chandrasekhar and Ray Ho won the men’s doubles title

In Bengaluru Open Tennis  , top seeded  Anirudh Chandrasekhar  and  Ray Ho  won men’s doubles title  managed to win  . The Indo-Taiwanese pair defeated Australia’s Blake Bayldon and Matthew Christopher Romeos 6-2, 6-4 at the KSLTA Tennis Stadium  . With this win, they won their sixth ATP Challenger title. Their victory also continued India’s strong doubles legacy at the Bengaluru Open, where seven of the nine events so far have featured at least one Indian champion.

10 India’s Ritwikh Choudhary Bollippalli along with Colombia’s Nicolas Barrientos won the Chile Open tennis tournament title

 Ritwik Choudhary Bollipalli  of India  along with  Nicolas Barrientos of Colombia has won the title of Chile Open Tennis Tournament  . In the final, the unseeded pair of Ritwik and Nicolas defeated top seeded Argentines Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzales 6-3, 6-2 in a match that lasted for an hour.

11 India won 22 out of 24 medals in WTT Youth Contender tournament held in Vadodara

India   performed brilliantly in  the WTT Youth Contender tournament  held in  Vadodara  , winning  22 out of 24 medals . Ankur Bhattacharjee  won  the gold medal in the Under 19 boys  category  by defeating Abhinandan Pradhan  3-0.  Cinderella Das  won the girls’ singles title in the Youth Contender Table Tennis. Cinderella Das   came back from 1-2 down against Ananya Chande to win the gold medal.  Divyanshi Bhowmick  once again won the gold medal in the Under-15 category, taking her tally to two individual gold medals and one silver medal in the mixed category.
