1.World’s largest irrigation project completed on Godavari, CM inaugurated by three states:-

On the Godavari river, the world’s largest lift irrigation project has been completed. Chief Minister of three states inaugurated this project together on Friday afternoon. It has been named Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. The Telangana government has built the world’s largest lift irrigation scheme on Godavari river. This project includes 22 pumps house. They plan to take three TMC water in one day. This project has two important steps. In the first phase, Mediguddha, Annaram, Sundilla Pump House have been partially prepared to lift the water. In the second stage is the world’s largest underground pump house, which has the capacity to pump two TMC water every day. The project was inaugurated today in presence of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governor Narsingh Guru, Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who arrived in the inaugural function, said that the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project is a gift given to the people of Telangana by the people of Maharashtra. The Telangana government has completed its construction work in record time. This project is a big success for Telangana state.

The world’s largest irrigation project has been completed in just 24 months. Under this project, the water of Godavari river has already been transported to the Madiguda pumping house. On switching of the motors, the water can be again transported to the Godavari river, which, through the delivery seater (underground pipe), reaches the Annamar barrage located on the upper stream.According to MEIL, a major company involved in the project’s decision, “So far this huge lift project has not been created in the whole world. This is the world’s top and largest elevator project. To pump 3 TMC water every day in this project, 7152 MW will be required. In the first phase, 4992 MW of electricity is being used to pump 2 TMC water. All the work has been completed in terms of the basic needs of electricity. Civil works related to pumping houses were completed in record time. ”

These are the biggest irrigation projects

At present, America’s Colorado Lift Scheme, a plan made on the man-made river of Egypt, is considered to be the world’s largest irrigation scheme. The capacity of these plans is in HP and it took about three decades to complete. Since 2000, large-scale lift projects have started in Telugu states. Among them are Hondry-Neva, Devdula, Kalvakuthi, Nettampadhu, Pattitsema, Purushottamapuram etc. States like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have also started lift plans. So far, heavy machinery is used only for Kalavakurti Lift Scheme, but its maximum capacity is only up to 40 MW.

Many records made through Pump houses

A total of 43 machines have been installed for Mediguddha, Annaram and Sundilla Pump House, each having capacity of 40 MW. These three pump houses of the link-1 consume almost 1720 MW of power. There will be 7 units (machines) in the underground pump house in Package-8, out of which 5 machines are fully prepared to do 2 TMC water pumps per day. Each of these machines has a capacity of 139 MW. Such large pumping machines are nowhere in the world. This underground pump house consumes 973 MW of electricity.

This is its specialty

Explaining the important features of the pump house, Srinivas Reddy of MEIL said, “The specialty of this pump house is its two adjacent tunnels, which have been made by digging the ground with 10.5m diameter. Generally they are called left and right tunnels. Each of the lengths is 4133 meters. The lining of these two tunnels has also ended. In addition to this pump house, its Surge pool is also the largest in the world. This is the first time that such a construction has been done within the land. Think of the size of a pump house, its depth is 330 meters, width is 25 meters and height is 65 meters.

How do these projects work

The water that is to be pumped first comes to the Surge pool, in which there is a huge amount of water for pumping. Three Surge pools have been built to maintain such a large amount of water. With the construction of the main Surge pool with 200x20x67.8 meter dimensions and 60x20x69.5 meters, the work of a separate Surge pool has already been completed. The work of pumping station in the second phase of 189.5 meters under ground with 115x25x64.75 meters dimensions has also been completed. The transformer bay is constructed under the pump house, which is 330 meters below the ground surface. Installing a vertical pump at a distance of 138 meters below the ground is a major feature of this project. Each of the pump motor has a weight of 2376 MT, and it shows the size of each unit.
