1. Government appointed Lt Gen Anil Chauhan (Retd) as Chief of Defense Staff (CDS)

The Government has decided to appoint Lt Gen Anil Chauhan (Retd) PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM as the next Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) with effect from the date of his assumption of charge and till further orders Government of India. He will also serve as the Secretary of the Department dealing with Military Affairs of the U.S. In a career spanning over 40 years, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan has held several command, staff and support positions and also has vast experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and North-East India. Born on 18 May 1961, Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan was commissioned into the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army in 1981.

2. PMGKAY scheme extended for 3 months

PM-GKAY (Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana) scheme has been extended for 3 more months till the end of December 2022 . The scheme was to end on 30 September . The decision to extend the scheme has been taken ahead of the festive season. The government will distribute 122 lakh metric tonnes of food grains from October to December 2022 under the seventh phase of this scheme. 44,762 crore will be spent as subsidy for this phase. The allocation of food grains for the seventh phase is around 1,121 lakh metric tonnes (LMT). The government has spent around Rs 3.45 lakh crore in the sixth phase of PM-GKAY. The total expenditure of this scheme is estimated to reach Rs 3.91 lakh crore. It has been implemented in 25 months from 2020 .

3. Indigenously developed special aviation fuel AVGAS 100 LL launched

The indigenously developed special aviation fuel AVGAS 100 LL was launched by the Government of India . AVGAS 100 LL was indigenously developed by Indian Oil Corporation for piston engined aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. It is used to power aircraft with spark-ignition piston engines, in which the combustion process of the air-fuel mixture is ignited by a spark from a spark plug. This indigenously developed fuel is a high octane number blue aviation gasoline. It will be produced at Indian Oil’s refinery in Vadodara Gujarat . It has been certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

4. ADB to provide $14 billion in aid for food security in Asia Pacific

Asian Development Bank commits $14 billion in aid to fight food insecurity in Asia Pacificannounced. Funds to address food insecurity in the Asia Pacific region were announced as part of the 55th ADB Annual Meeting. It will be used to tackle the food crisis caused by climate change and the Russian war in Ukraine. Financial assistance will be provided for the period 2022-2025. While USD 3.3 billion will be spent in 2022, USD 10.7 billion will be used from 2023 to 2025. In 2022, USD 2.5 billion of this assistance will be used to repurpose and strengthen existing projects and start new projects in agriculture, natural resources and rural development. USD 800 million has been used by the private sector to finance operations of trade and supply chain, direct agribusiness lending, Microfinancing will be done for programs and lending to financial institutions. The latest funding will complement existing aid targeting food security in the region.

5. CBI launches Operation Megh Chakra

CBI has launched Operation Megh Chakra to combat the spread of child sexual abuse material online . The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched Operation Megh Chakra on September 24, 2022 to conduct searches at 56 locations across India as part of a nationwide campaign against the spread and sharing of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). did. The operation was launched after the CBI received intelligence inputs from the Singapore Special Unit of Interpol based on information received from officials in New Zealand.

6. Government of India banned Popular Front of India

The Central Government has banned Popular Front of India for 5 years . The Union Home Ministry has passed the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its associations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act .for their links with terrorist groups and subversive activities. The ban was imposed based on the recommendations of the state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat. Now, the PFI has joined Lashkar, JeM, Al Qaeda, SIMI and other extremist groups on the “banned” list. 8 organizations which are working as affiliated to PFI have also been banned. The ban does not include the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), which was created within the PFI to focus on political issues. SDPI is not banned as it is a registered political party and comes under the purview of Election Commission of India. PFI was established in 2007 by three Muslim organizations – National Democratic Front (NDF) in Kerala, It resulted from the merger of Karnataka Forum for Dignity and Manitha Neethi Pasarai in Tamil Nadu. It was founded by members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). It was created in 2001 after SIMI was banned by the Government of India.

7. Rhino Monument inaugurated in Kaziranga National Park

A memorial made of ashes collected from rhino horns was recently unveiled at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam . Name of the monument with three rhinoceros statues “ Abode of the Unicorns” Is placed. It has a male rhinoceros, a female rhinoceros and a calf. The rhino statues have been made by the Assam government using ashes collected from around 2,500 rhino horns. Last year, on the occasion of World Rhino Day (September 22), illegally caught rhino horns were burnt in Kaziranga National Park. They were collected or confiscated in the last 40 years. These idols were made using about 128 kg of ash obtained from these burnt horns. These idols are made by sculptor Biju Das. The statues of forest guards have been carved by Biren Singha. It took four months to make these idols. The memorial was unveiled by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The estimated cost of this project is 10 to 12 lakh rupees.

10. Indian-origin British Home Minister Suella Braverman wins first Queen Elizabeth II Award

11. The Union Cabinet has approved the MoU on the water withdrawal up to 153 cusecs by each side from the Kushiyara River passing through the common border of India and Bangladesh.
