Minister for Environment and Forest Prakash Javadekar released a document on Best Practices and launched a portal on Human-Elephant Conflict named SURAKHSYA for World Elephant Day 2020. The world Elephant Day is observed on 12th August every year.

2.Assam Council Of Ministers Approves “Assam Non-Government Education Institutions (Regulation Of Fees) Rules 2020”:

Assam council of ministers approved the Assam Non-Government Education Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Rules 2020.This would regulate the fees structure of the private educational institutes. The council of ministers meeting also approved the Assam Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) scheme 2020.

3.Gujarat Government Launches New Scheme “Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana” To Compensate Farmers For Crop Loss:

Gujarat government launched a scheme ‘Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana’ under which farmers facing crop losses due to drought, excess rain or rain to get compensation without the collection of any premium from them. It replaces PM Fasal Bima Yojana.

4.Union Education Minister Launches Minimum Standards Of Architectural Education Regulations, 2020:

Union Education Minister launched the “Minimum Standards of Architectural Education Regulations, 2020”. It has been prepared by the experts of the Council of Architecture (CoA) to address major concerns in the human habitat and built environment in India.

5.Union Minister Of MSME Addressed India@75 Summit- Mission 2022:

Union Minister of MSME Nitin Gadkari addressed the India@75 Summit – Mission 2022, which was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). He stressed the need for looking beyond metros and urged industries to develop tribal areas.

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched ICAR’s data recovery centre – Krishi Megh. It is aimed at protecting the data of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. It has been set up at National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) in Hyderabad.

7.Paytm Launches ‘India’s First Pocket Android PoS Device For Easy And Contactless Payments:

Paytm launched an Android-based pocket-sized point of sale (POS) device named ‘Paytm All-in-One Portable Android Smart POS’ that is enabled with integrated billing software, camera for QR scanning and supports 4G SIM cards Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It is available for an introductory monthly rental of ₹ 499.

United States, Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden named Indian-origin senator Kamala Harris as his Vice-Presidential running mate. Joe Biden made history by selecting the first black woman to compete on a major party’s presidential ticket. Harris is currently the US Senator from California.

9.Russia Launches World’s First Registered COVID-19 Vaccine ‘Sputnik V’:

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced approval of a coronavirus vaccine for use, claiming it as a world first. Developed by the Moscow-based Gamaleya Institute, it has been named “Sputnik-V” a reference to the world’s first satellite by Soviet Union.

10.Tribal Affairs Ministry develops nine ‘Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums

The Tribal Affairs Ministry is developing “Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums dedicated to the contributions of the tribal people in India to the freedom struggle.Out of nine sanctioned museums, two museums are near completion and the remaining seven are at different stages of progress.By the end of 2022 all the museums will come into existence.Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced setting up of these tribal freedom fighters’ museums during his Independence Day Speech on 15th August 2016.All the museums will have strong usage of technologies like Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and 3D/7D holographic projections.These museums will demonstrate the way tribals struggle to protect their custodial concerns for the biological and cultural diversity of the country.

11.Gujarat launches ‘Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana’

The Gujarat government launched a new scheme ‘Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay’ Yojana.Under this farmers facing crop losses due to drought, excess rain or unseasonal rain will get compensation without collection of any premium from them.The new scheme will replace the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for this year only.Unlike the Centre’s crop insurance scheme, farmers are not required to pay any premium under this new state government’s scheme to get protection against natural risks like drought, excess or unseasonal rain this kharif season.
