1.Army Chief MM Narwane Conferred The Honorary General Of The Army By Nepal:- Chief of Army Staff General MM Narwane  was  awarded the honorary general of the Nepalese Army by  Bidya Devi Bhandari , President of Nepal . He was honored at a special ceremony at the President’s official residence ‘Sheetal Niwas’ , located in Nepal ‘s capital Kathmandu . Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Sharma Oli , Indian Ambassador Vinay M. Quatra and other senior officials of both countries were present. This honorary degree effort is part of a seven-decade-old tradition of honoring each other’s army chiefs with both countries. Commander-in-Chief General KM Cariappa was the first Indian Army Chief to be awarded this honorary in 1950 . Yellow in January last year, General Purna Chandra Thapa , the Chief of the Nepalese Army, was decorated with the Honorary General of the Indian Army at a function organized in New Delhi by President Ram Nath Kovind .

2.AK Gupta Becomes The New MD And CEO Of ONGC Videsh Limited:- AK Gupta has   taken over as the new Managing Director and  CEO of ONGC  Videsh Limited (OVL) . Prior to this, he was serving as the Director (Operations) of the company . Apart from this, Gupta will also head new businesses in marketing at ONGC and head of business development for ONGC Videsh for both domestic and international markets. In this position he will handle commercial negotiations with partner partners, regulators, customers and national oil companies. OVL is an international petroleum company in India and a foreign branch of the national oil and gas major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited. Gupta has nearly three decades of experience in various capacities in domestic and foreign oil and gas exploration and production operations.

3.Prahlad Singh Patel Inaugurates “Tourist Facilitation Center” In Kerala:- Union Tourism and Culture Minister of State (Independent Charge) Prahlad Singh Patel said Kerala ‘s Guruvayur in “tourist facility” has Warchuli opening feature. The facility has been constructed  under the “Guruvayur Tourism Development of Kerala” project at a cost of Rs 11.57 crore under the Prasad Yojana of the Ministry of Tourism.

About PRASHAD Scheme:

  • The National Mission for Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Promotion Campaign (PRASHAD) was launched by the Ministry of Tourism in the year 2014-15 .
  • The objective of the PRASHAD scheme is the integrated development of identified pilgrimage and heritage sites.
  • This includes infrastructure development such as entry points (road, rail and water transport), last-mile connectivity, information / interpretation centers, ATM / currency exchange, environmentally friendly means of transport, energy, parking, with area lighting and renewable sources  Basic tourism facilities like drinking water, toilets, cloakroom, waiting room, first aid center, craft market / haat / souvenir shops / cafeteria, rain shelter, telecommunication facilities, internet connectivity etc. are included.

4.World Tsunami Awareness Day: 5 November:-World Tsunami Awareness Day is observed across the world on 5 November. The day is celebrated to spread awareness among people across the world in matters related to the dangers of tsunami. In December 2015, the UN General Assembly designated 5 November as World Tsunami Awareness Day, calling on countries, international bodies and civil society to raise tsunami awareness and share innovative approaches to risk reduction. World Tsunami Awareness Day was the brainchild of Japan, which due to its repeated, bitter experience has over the years built up major expertise in areas such as tsunami early warning, public action and building back better after a disaster to reduce future impacts.

5.ISRO to launch Earth Observation Satellite EOS01 on Nov 7:-The Indian Space Research organisation ISRO has scheduled the launch of the Earth Observation Satellite EOS01. Nine other customer satellites will also be carried into space by the workhorse launch vehicle PSLV-C49.This would be the first launch by the ISRO after the Covid-triggered lockdown. The ISRO says the earth observation satellite EOS-01 is intended for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support.

6.Naval Exercise Between Bangladesh And US Begins CARAT Bangladesh 2020:- Bangladesh and the US navies have launched ” Cooperation Aflot Readiness and Training (CARAT) Bangladesh 2020″ to enhance relations and broaden maritime awareness between the two countries  .

About the practice:

  • The exercise reflects the US’s continued commitment to work with Bangladesh’s military to overcome common maritime security concerns in the region and strengthen partnerships to ensure an independent Indo-Pacific region .
  • The sea phase of this exercise will be carried out in the Bay of Bengal with ships from both countries.
  • The exercise is designed to coordinate between the two navies. The US and Bangladesh will work through coordinated deployment of surface ships, to include strategic maneuvers, among other activities.
  • The CARAT  2020 reflects a shared vision for an independent, open, inclusive, peaceful and secure Indo-Pacific region of the US and Bangladesh .
7.Andaman and Nicobar Command conducts joint service exercise, three armies participated:- The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) on Thursday organized a three-day joint service exercise called Bull Strike, located off Teresa Island. Military officials gave this information on Thursday. Officials said the drill began on Tuesday and ended on Thursday. It saw the participation of officers of the Indian Army’s parachute brigade, Marcos (Marine Commando Force) and Special Forces, the three service components of the ANC. Officials said that the emphasis was on increasing the interoperability and synergy between the three armies, army, navy and air force to increase combat capability.
