1. Will now meet the target of 20 percent ethanol blending in petrol by 2025
On the occasion of World Environment Day , Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the target of blending 20 percent ethanol in petrol will now be achieved by the year 2025 . Till now this target was resolved to be achieved by 2030. Emphasizing on organic farming and use of biofuels , Modi said, ethanol has become a major priority of 21st century India. Its use is having a better impact on the environment as well as the lives of farmers. Till 2014, on an average, only 1.5% ethanol was mixed in India. Today it has reached around 8.5 per cent. The PM released a detailed roadmap for the development of the ethanol sector. Ambitious E-100 pilot project related to production and distribution of ethanol across the country also PuneLaunched in Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Narendra Singh Tomar, Prakash Javadekar, Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan were also involved in this program through video conferencing.
2. Ramona 6th National Park declared in Assam
Ramona , located in the Kokrajhar district of western Assam , rich in wildlife diversity, has been notified as the sixth National Park of the state . In a program on the occasion of World Environment Day in Guwahati, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Ramona Sanctuary will be upgraded. Work is underway to give Dehing Patkai the status of a National Park. The Science and Technology Department of the State Government has been named as Science, Technology and Climate Change. State Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya said that a notification has been issued to declare Ramona with an area of ​​422 sq km as a National Park. Dehing Patkai, located in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of eastern Assam, is a long awaited upgrade.
3. Kerala launches ‘Knowledge Economy Mission’
The Government of Kerala has launched ‘ Knowledge Economy Mission ‘ to boost job prospects in the state by supporting knowledge workers . The initiative was announced in the state budget on June 4. It is headed by Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council.(Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council – K-DISC) and they will submit a comprehensive project report before July 15. The project will be launched to bring the ongoing efforts to provide employment to educated people and support ‘knowledge workers’ under a program. Plans will be made to provide basic amenities and social security system for knowledge workers working close to their homes and interacting with employers. For implementation and funding purposes, a ‘Knowledge Economy Fund’ will be created. Knowledge Economy Fund has been increased from ₹200 crore to ₹300 crore, to promote skilling and strengthen the higher education system and for technological transformation.
4. Pakistan will remain on the watch list of FATF
The Asia Pacific Group (APG) , the regional arm of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) , has retained Pakistan ‘s ‘ Enhanced Followup ‘ status. This has ensured that Pakistan remains on the watch list of FATF . The decision has been taken after failing to develop an effective mechanism to check terrorist activities and prevent economic crime. The Paris- based FATF had put Pakistan on the watch list in June 2018 . According to the report related to Pakistan by FATF’s Asia Pacific Group, FATF had made 40 recommendations to curb funding of terrorist activities in Pakistan, out of which 31 have been implemented.
5. CBSE to introduce coding and data science in schools
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) by Microsoft in the school curriculum in collaboration with the Science coding and data is included. Coding will be introduced for class 6 to class 8 students while data science will be introduced as new skill subjects for class 8 to class 12 . Both these courses will be offered in the 2021-2022 academic session. Both these skill subjects focus on critical thinking, computational skills, creativity, problem-solving skills and practical exposure to new technologies. These subjects will be launched in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

CSIR India and Laxai Life Sciences Pvt Ltd have started the Phase II clinical trial of Niklos-amide , a drug for stomach worms, for the treatment of covid . These companies have got regulatory approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DGCI). Through this trial, the efficacy, safety and tolerability of Niklos-amide in the treatment of hospitalized Kovid patients will be evaluated through multiple points. Nickelose-amide has been widely used in the treatment of tapeworm infections in adults and children. This drug has also been tested several times from the safety aspect and has been found to be safe for human use at various levels of dosage.
9. G-7 decides to support historic agreement to impose 15 percent global minimum tax on MNCs
The world’s developed countries of the Organization G7 by at least 15 percent of global minimum multinationals have decided to support a landmark agreement to explore. LondonIt was also agreed in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the G-7 member states that large companies should pay taxes on their actual whereabouts as well as where their products are sold. G-7 ministers said they were committed to implementing a global minimum tax of at least 15 percent on a country-by-country basis. According to the agreement, countries in which the companies’ products are sold, those countries will have the right to tax at least 20 percent on the company’s profits. Large and high-profit making multinational companies may be taxed separately at 10 per cent. G-7 ministers also agreed that the environmental impact of corporate activities should be made public, so that investors can decide whether to invest in companies. Britain’s Finance Minister Rishi Sunak announced this agreement.
