Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the headquarters building of the International Financial Services Center Authority (IFACA) in Gujarat on July 29, 2022 . This authority is the unified regulator for the development and regulation of financial products, financial services and financial institutions in International Financial Services Centers in India. The Headquarters building of this Authority is envisaged as an iconic structure, reflecting the growing reputation and structure of Gujarat International Finance Tech as a premier international financial hub. The Prime Minister will also launch India’s first International Bullion Exchange i.e. Bharat International Bullion at Gujarat International Finance Tech- International Financial Services Centre.

Five more sites of India’s wetlands i.e. Ramsar have been declared as of international importance . These include Karikili Bird Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu , Pallikaranai Marsh Reserve Forest and Pichavaram mangroves , Pala in Mizoram and Sakhya Sagar in Madhya Pradesh . There are a total of 54 Ramsar sites in the country .

3.India contributes USD 2.5 million to UNRWA

India contributed USD 2.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East . This contribution highlights India’s strong performance and unwavering support for the work of UNRWA. It also highlights India’s commitment to the well being of Palestine. It supports Palestinian refugees in the Middle East. India is a dedicated donor to UNRWA. Since 2018, it has contributed USD 20 million to support UNRWA core services to Palestine refugees in the Middle East.

4.Jharkhand launches its tourism policy

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched the “ Jharkhand Tourism Policy ” with an aim to revive the tourism sector in the state . Its attractions will mesmerize India and the world. Its objective is to revive and renew the tourism sector in Jharkhand. It seeks to provide a different dimension and perspective to how the world views the state. The policy also focuses on adopting methods of providing civic amenities and beautification of several places including Parasnath, Deoghar, Itkhori and Madhuban. Under this policy, a Religious Tourist Unit will also be set up with the aim of increasing the possibilities of religious tourism in Jharkhand.

5.Zoological Survey of India conducted survey on Snow Leopard

Recently, the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) conducted a survey on Snow Leopard , which gives some interesting information about the Snow Leopard and its prey species . ZSI Study of Habitat Use by Snow Leopard and Blue Sheep and Siberian Ibexas highlights a strong relationship between its prey species. According to this study, snow leopards are more likely to be detected if the site is used by its prey species. The Snow Leopard is scientifically known as Panthera uncia. It is classified as ‘Vulnerable’ on the IUCN Red List. It is a Schedule-I species of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The global population of the snow leopard is less than 10,000. Predators such as the snow leopard help control herbivorous populations at high latitudes. Thus, it helps to protect the health of grasslands. If the species is absent for a long time, it can lead to trophic cascades as populations of herbivores such as blue sheep and Siberian ibex will increase,

6.Who has been appointed by the Center as the interim CEO of NLMC Sanjay Kumar Jain?

To run the National Land Management Corporation (NLMC), the Central Government has appointed a Joint Secretary for the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) . He will serve as the interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Special Purpose Vehicle. He will monetize surplus land and buildings of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) . Sanjay Kumar Jainhas been appointed as interim CEO. The government has also appointed nominees to the board of NLMC. The government will initiate the process of creating assets along with 3,479 acres of surplus land, which has been identified by nine PSUs. Other PSUs and government departments will also prepare a list of assets to be monetized through NLMC. NLMC was established on June 3, 2022 as a wholly owned company of the Government of India. An initial authorized share capital of Rs 5,000 crore was fixed in addition to the paid-up share capital of Rs 150 crore. It will hold, own, manage and monetise the land and assets of those PSUs which will be closed down. It will look after additional non-core land assets of state-owned companies as part of strategic disinvestment.

7.Union Ministry of Power in collaboration with Government of Meghalaya organized Bijli Mahotsav in Ri-Bhoi district yesterday

8.Three member committee constituted to investigate chemical misuse tragedy in Botad district of Gujarat, death toll rises to 29

The state government has constituted a three-member committee to probe the chemical abuse tragedy in Botad district in Gujarat . Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi told that I.G.P. Subhash Trivedi will be the chairman of the committee. The committee will investigate the cause of the incident and submit its report to the government within three days. Its two other members include the Director of Prohibition and Excise Department, M.A. Gandhi and forensic science laboratory director H.P. Sanghvi included. The death toll in Gujarat’s Botad district, allegedly after consuming spurious liquor , has risen to 29. The police have recovered four hundred and sixty liters of the chemical. In the forensic report, it has been described as methyl alcohol.

10.Shri Purushottam Rupala inaugurates NDDB subsidiary for Fertilizer Management

The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Purushottam Rupala , launched NDDB MRIDA Limited , a wholly owned subsidiary of National Dairy Development Board , to take forward the manure management initiative across the country . NDDB MRIDA Limited is an unlisted public limited company incorporated by NDDB on 1st July, 2022 under the Companies Act, 2013 .under which the paid-up capital is Rs.9.50 crore. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rupala said that NDDB Soil Limited will provide an opportunity to dairy farmers to earn additional income from the sale of slurry/dung. He said that this would help the farmers to save while replacing the cooking fuel with biogas. The Minister said that efforts are being made to make better use of bovine dung, but most of these initiatives are individual and the manure management efforts through the new company will get a structural impetus. On the occasion, Dr. Balian released a brochure on NDDB MRIDA Ltd. and Dr. Murugan handed over the ‘Sudhan’ trademark of NDDB to the Chairman and Managing Director of NDDB MRIDA Ltd.

11.Prasar Bharati ties up with IIT, Kanpur to comply with 5G broadcast standards

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has said that Prasar Bharati has entered into an agreement with IIT, Kanpur to develop next generation broadcasting solutions and roadmaps compliant with 5G broadcasting standards . In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Shri Anurag Thakur informed that presently Doordarshan has 23 Digital Terrestrial Transmitters which are working at 19 locations. Shri Thakur said that All India Radio has 123 MW transmitters in its network, out of which 38 are digital MW transmitters.

12.Amendment in foreign contribution regulation rule, now foreign contribution will be able to receive more than Rs 10 lakh during the financial year

The Central Government has made amendments in the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Rules-2022 , so as to reduce the compliance burden on the citizens. A press release of the Ministry of Home Affairs has said that as per the amended rule, a person receiving foreign contribution of more than Rs.10 lakh from relatives during the financial year will have to inform the government within three months . Earlier this limit was one lakh rupees and it was mandatory to inform the central government within thirty days.

13.Defense Acquisition Council approved the proposal to buy arms worth Rs 28 thousand 7 hundred 32 crores

The Defense Acquisition Council-DAC , chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh , has approved a proposal to purchase arms worth Rs . The procurement will be done under the indigenously designed, developed and manufactured arms and equipment category to promote self-reliance in the defense sector. Keeping in view the increased security in view of the threat of infiltrators near the Line of Control, the DAC has approved the purchase of Indian Standard BIS-4 level bullet proof jackets.

14.ECGC launches new insurance cover scheme for small exporters to cover export credit risk up to 90%

ECGC up to 90 per cent to support small exporters under ‘ Export Credit Insurance for Banks ‘ (Entire Turnover Packaging Credit and Post Shipment) (ECIB-WTPC, PS)A new scheme has been introduced to provide enhanced export credit risk insurance cover. The scheme is expected to benefit many small scale exporters availing export credit from banks having ECGC WT-ECIB cover. This will enable small exporters to explore new markets/new buyers and diversify their existing product portfolio in a very competitive manner. This enhanced cover is extended to manufacturer-exporters (i.e., exporters) availing fund-based export credit working capital limit of up to Rs. Total packaging credit and post shipment limit) per exporter/exporter-group. This new scheme will enable banks having ECGC’s WT-ECIB cover to explore the possibility of further reducing interest rates so as to benefit all stakeholders. This enhanced cover percentage will be provided to State Bank of India as per the premium rate of the previous year keeping in view its favorable claim premium ratio. However, there may be a marginal increase in the premium rates prevailing for other banks.

18.36th National Games will be organized in Gujarat

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on 22 July signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Olympic Association (GOA) and the Gujarat State Government to jointly organize the 36th National Games 2022 . The 36th National Games 2022 will be held in Gujarat. It will be held from September 27, 2022 to October 10, 2022. It will be conducted in 6 cities of Gujarat, in which all 28 states and 8 union territories will participate. In all, 36 games will be hosted, which will be ” Games for Unity “.“(Sports for Unity) will be in line with the tagline. This year Yogasan and Mallakhambha have been added to the list of sports. Thus, it will promote indigenous sports in India. The opening ceremony will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

20.Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra injured, ruled out of Commonwealth Games

21.Kargil Vijay Diwas

The 23rd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated on 26 July 2022 . This day is dedicated to the martyr soldiers of Kargil war. There were many military conflicts after the Indo-Pak war of 1971 . In the year 1998, both the countries conducted nuclear tests which further escalated the tension and finally Kargil war in 1999 . The Kargil War, also known as the Kargil conflict, took place between May–July of 1999 along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir (now a district in the Union Territory of Ladakh ).But it was fought in which India got victory. In the year 1999, India and Pakistan signed the Lahore Agreement to mutually resolve the Kashmir issue in a peaceful manner. However, Pakistani troops began infiltrating the Indian side of the Line of Control (LOC) as part of Operation Badr, in the hope that the Indian troops would be defeated at Siachen. While the Indian Army responded by launching Operation Vijay. On May 3, 1999, Pakistan started this war when it infiltrated and occupied high altitude in the rocky mountainous region of Kargil with about 5,000 soldiers. When the Indian government came to know about this betrayal, ‘Operation Vijay’ was launched by the Indian Army to drive back the infiltrators who had captured Indian territory.
